Passage2
Stomach flu is one of the most unpleasant of common illnesses. It spreads easily. That’s especially true if someone in your family has it. A virus can cause stomach flu, but not the same one that causes common flu. There’
s no medicine to make it go away at once. But there are some things you can do to stop catching it.
You can stop stomach flu by washing your hands often. Use hot water and soap to wash your hands. Using
soap is better than using nothing, but it doesn’t work very well against stomach flu. That’s because soap can’t kill
viruses completely.
The virus that causes stomach flu is hard to kill. Normal cleaners (清洁剂) won’t always get rid of it. So mix
bleach (漂白剂) with water, and use that to clean your house. If someone in your family is sick, remember to clean
things that person has touched.
Dishwashers are better at killing viruses than washing the dishes by hand. That’s because they keep the dishes
hotter for a longer time. Many viruses can live in your washing machine. So wash clothes with hot water and use
bleach, if possible. You may even run the washing machine with no clothes, just hot water and bleach. This will kill
any virus in it.
If you do get the stomach flu, drink as much water as possible. If you’re feeling better, don’t return to work or
school right away. You can still spread the disease for a few days after you feel better. If you have a fever, wait at
least 24 hours after it ends before going out. This will help stop other people from getting sick.
Stomach flu is awful, but by following these tips above, you can keep away from it.
( ) 25. From Paragraph 1, we know that ________.
A. stomach flu is a pleasant common flu
B. medicine can make stomach flu go away at once
C. if someone around you catches stomach flu, you may catch it too
D. the same virus can cause stomach flu and common flu
( ) 26. What does the underline phrase “get rid of” probably mean in Paragraph 3
A.逃离 B.除去 C.避免 D.变糟
( ) 27. Which of the following is the best to kill viruses
A. Washing your hands with water and soap.
B. Mixing bleach with water to clean your house.
C. Washing the dishes and clothes with bleach by hand.
D. Running the washing machine without clothes, just with hot water and bleach.
( ) 28. What should we do after a fever ends
A. Take as little medicine as possible. B. Return to work or school at once.
C. Wait at least 24 hours before going out. D. Co to see the doctor again.
Passage3
Dear Amy,
My special hobby is picking up rubbish. Yes, that’s right. And I especially enjoy collecting waste wood. These
pieces of wood may not be wanted by others, but my grandfather and I can give them a new life. We love turning
them into flower shelves, sunshades and even swings. We place them in our garden and they make us very happy.
They also give our garden a sense of design.
I also like picking up bottles. These are usually empty bottles. We can repurpose (略微改动) them by making
holes at the top and use them to water flowers. Of course there can be many other uses for these bottles.
I find picking up these waste things very enjoyable. Some people think it’s difficult to discover the hidden
treasures of waste things, but it is a piece of cake for me. I’m really good at turning these seemingly useless objects
into useful resources. They can help us do many things and create a much cleaner environment.
We are always encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. By doing these, we can not only create cool
new things but also play our part in protecting the environment.
My special hobby of recycling rubbish really brings me a lot of fun and a sense of accomplishment(成就感).
Would you join me Let’s do our part to help make the world a cleaner and better place!
Yours,
Yang Jing

Imagine visiting an amazing place. You can see bears and wolves there. You can walk up mountains and next
to rivers of ice. You can fish for salmon (鲑鱼). And you’ll meet many different travelers.
The Tongass is the largest national forest in the United States. It is also one of the oldest and largest quiet
rainforests in the world. In the forest, you can find over 1,000 islands and about 17,000 miles of rivers. These rivers
are home to all five kinds of Pacific salmon.
You can also find animals in the forest, such as bears, deer and mountain goats. The rivers in the area are
places for whales, harbor porpoises, and sea otters (海獭), as well as many kinds of fish, like salmon. Also, this
area is home to more eagles than any other place in the world!
The Tongass has 5.7 million acres (英亩) of very old forest. These trees are hundreds of years old. Nothing
hurts them-not storms, not sickness, not even people cutting down trees.
Cutting down too many trees puts animals in danger, and it also causes bad weather. The earth’s usual weather
pattern is changing, and it is changing so fast. Alaska’s wetlands are drying up, and many trees are dying because
of earlier spring times. Many diseases grow under warmer conditions, killing trees and animals.
Without taking steps to prepare for these changes, places like the Tongass National Forest, and all of the plants,
animals, and people within, will be at risk.

( ) 36. What do we know from the text
A. There are not any birds in the Tongass. B. It’s easy for travelers to get lost in the Tongass.
C. The Tongass is a well-protected rainforest. D. Many people cut down trees in the Tongass every year.

Ⅴ. 任务型阅读(共 10 分,51-53 小题每题 2 分;54 小题 4 分)根据短文内容,简略回答问
题。
To most people, Mount Qomolangma is one of the greatest wonders of the world. On the highest place on
earth, you will feel like you are able to touch the sky. But only the best climbers reach the top, and that is only if
they survive the terrible conditions first. On the mountain, temperatures can fall to-30 degrees. Climbers must also
deal with thin air, high cliffs, and changeable weather.
Before 1960, no one was able to reach the top of Qomolangma from the northern side. Mountain climbers
even called that way the “Death Road”, but a Chinese climbing team was determined to make the climb.
On 24 May 1960, climbers Liu Lianman, Wang Fuzhou, Qu Yinhua, and Gongbu arrived at the Second Step. It
was 8,600 metres above sea level. People said it was so high that even birds could not reach it. Liu allowed his
teammates to step on his shoulders. Bit by bit, the climbers pulled themselves up, and they made it past the Second
Step. At 4:20 a. m. on 25 May, the Chinese national flag flew above the world’s highest mountain for the first time.
In 1975, another Chinese team climbed to the top of Qomolangma to do research. This time, they brought a
ladder to the Second Step. Until 2007, almost all climbers from the northern side used this “Chinese Ladder” to
reach the top much faster. In 2020, a Chinese research team went to Qomolangma to measure its height-8,848.86
metres
Climbing Qomolangma is dangerous. Some climbers reach the top successfully, but many fail. Why do people
still risk their lives to climb the highest mountain in the world It is because human curiosity and ambition cannot
be stopped. Or, as the English explorer George Mallory put it, it is simply “because it’s there”!
