Sometimes, we remember our childhood neighbourhood just as well, or even better than, our childhood homes. For both children and grown-ups, neighbourhoods are the place to play, learn, and keep in mind.
In most parts of Australian suburbs, almost everyone on the block knows each ing home together on the school bus is usually just the beginning of neighbouring children spending time together. When it's hot, children can swim in a pool together. And when it's cold, they can have barbecues with each other's families.
Grown-ups also take advantage of living in a community by taking care of their neighbours. It's convenient for neighbours to become friends because they live so close together. Neighbours will often help to look after their neighbours' houses when they are on holiday.
If someone is ill, neighbours might bring them some delicious food. And if a child loses his way, neighbours are more than happy to help him find his way back home.
