Have you ever imagined being welcomed by a robot in a park In Qianhai Stone Park, Shenzhen, this has already become real. On March 20, China’s first robot volunteer service station officially began operations there. This new project shows how technology is becoming part of people’s daily lives.
At the service station, several robots in volunteer vests are ready to help visitors. Instead of standing still like machines in a lab, they work like real volunteers in the park. They greet people, offer help, and move around the area. Their arrival has made the park more modern and more interesting.
These robot volunteers can provide many useful services. Some answer daily questions, such as how to get to a certain place or where to take good photos. Some give out drinking water or take items such as bandages and mosquito repellent (驱虫剂) from a first-aid box. They can also explain public information and offer emergency support when needed.
What makes these robots even more special is their intelligence. Some are equipped with visual recognition systems and can patrol the park, give safety reminders, and make public announcements. One robot, Oli, can have real-time conversations in both Chinese and English. More languages may be added in the future, which will make communication easier for international visitors.
These robots were developed by companies in Qianhai and Nanshan. They are not meant to replace human volunteers completely, but to provide smarter and more convenient services. Scientists have made some of the smallest robots in the world. They are smaller than a grain of salt. But they have a tiny computer inside and can swim in water on their own.
Building such small robots was hard. To power the robot, scientists chose to use a solar panel (太阳能电池板), which allows a robot to run for months, powered only by light. But that also meant there was little space left for other parts.
The robots have a very small computer that can be programmed and even has a memory. Once the robots are programmed, they can move by themselves.
Making the robots swim was another challenge — here’s how they manage it. The robots create a small electric field. This makes the water move around them, then the water carries the robot forward.
What can these robots do For one thing, they can feel how warm or cold the water is. They can also be programmed to swim toward warmer places.
The scientists also found a creative way for the robots to “talk”. The robots share information by moving in special ways. For example, after checking the temperature, a robot might do a little dance. Scientists watch through a microscope and understand the dance to get the information. “It’s very similar to how honey bees communicate with each other,” said one scientist.
The scientists say this is just the beginning. They believe these robots could do many useful things in the future. One day, similar robots might check the health of cells (细胞) in the human body. Although each robot is very small, they can work together to do bigger jobs.
16.What problem did scientists face when using solar panels
A.The robots had little space for other parts.
B.The robots could only run for a short time.
C.The solar panels couldn’t work without light.
D.The solar panels were too heavy for the robots.
17.How do the robots move forward in water

B.They use solar energy to push water away.
C.They create a special field to pull in water.
D.They are pushed forward by the moving water.
18.Why does the writer mention honey bees in the sixth paragraph
A.To explain how small the robots are.
B.To tell how the robots learn from honey bees.
C.To show that bees are smarter than the robots.
D.To help understand how the robots communicate.
19.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.Uses of the robots in the future.
B.Communication between the robots.
C.Reports on new designs of the robots.
D.Ways of the robots working in groups.
20.What’s the best title for the passage
A.Bees & Robots B.Light & Robots

第二节 短文填空
以下是一则短文, 请阅读短文, 并从下列六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中, 使原文的意思完整、连贯。并在答题卡上将相应的字母编号涂黑。(共5 小题, 每小题1分)
Saving money can be challenging for teenagers, especially when there are so many things to spend it on. Therefore learning to save is an important skill. 26
Opening a savings account is a smart first step. 27 What makes it even better is that some accounts offer high interest rates (利率), which means the bank pays you just for keeping your money there. To open one, you may need a parent to go to the bank with you.
Another effective way is to stop yourself from buying things immediately. It’s easy to see something you like and want to buy it right away. 28 That is, write down the product, its price, and the date, then wait a full month before deciding to buy it. By doing so, you will turn a sudden want into a thoughtful choice.
29 For example, if you earn 15, put 5 directly into savings. This method allows you to enjoy the rest while still building your savings for future goals. If you are saving for something big, you can choose to save even more.
Finally, to have money to save, you need to make money. You can sell your old books and toys at the local flea market. You can also ask your parents if you can earn money by doing chores, such as washing the dishes or sweeping the floor. 30
A.When this idea pops up, try the “30-day rule.”
B.Here are several practical ways to start saving.
C.A savings account keeps your money safe in a bank.
D.You’ll surely feel satisfied if you pay for it immediately.
E.Moreover, save at least one-third of your money as soon as you receive it.
F.Both ways not only provide income but also give you valuable experience.
