Born on March 26,1874,in San Francisco,California,Robert Frost grew up to become one of America’s most famous poets, leaving a lasting impact on the world of literature.
Though he was born in California,Frost moved with his family to Massachusetts after his father passed away.Growing up on a farm in New England,he found inspiration in the beautiful landscapes and changing seasons, which later became key themes in his poetry.
Frost published his first book of poetry,A Boy’s Will,in 1913.It was an impressive book, filled with the beauty of nature and the wisdom of a young poet finding his voice. His second book,North of Boston, published in the following year, became even more famous, containing some of his best-known poems like Mending Wall and After Apple-Picking. Over the years,Frost continued to publish books that won the hearts of readers, including Mountain Interval,New Hampshire, and A Further Range.
While Robert Frost is known for his famous adult poems like The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, many of his books contain poems that are enjoyable for both children and adults. Some of his well-known poems for kids include The Pasture,Birches, and Mending Wall. In these poems,he uses simple language and paints vivid pictures that can inspire your imagination.
Let’s take a closer look at one of his poems for children,The Pasture.
I’m going out to clean the pasture (牧场)spring
I’ll only stop to rake (耙) the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear;I may):
I sha’n’t be gone long.—You come too.
I’m going out to fetch (找来) the little calf(小牛)
That’s standing by the mother:It’s so young,
It totters (踉跄) when she licks (舔) it with her tongue.

In February of 2023,Willard Spiegelman published a biography(传记) of Amy Clampitt entitled “Nothing Stays Put:The Life and Poetry of Amy Clampitt”.Spiegelman — the author of many previous books, including an edited volume of Amy Clampitt’s letters,“Love,Amy”—focuses on the poet herself,or Amy,as he often calls her.In the biography’s opening pages,he presents her poem “The Sun Underfoot Among the Sundews”,which appeared in The New Yorker in 1978,when Clampitt was 58.She was unknown to the literary world at the time but would have several more poems published in the magazine before they were collected in her book “The Kingfisher” in 1983.
The biography follows Clampitt’s slow turn toward poetry and publication.Born in Iowa in 1920 to a family of farmers,Clampitt graduated from Grinnell College in 1941,then headed on her own to Manhattan. There she found work in publishing but focused all her creative energy for 20 years on writing novels, none of which were published. She traveled to England and Greece and later immersed herself in(专心于) classical Greek.
Clampitt at last decided to turn toward poetry. She enrolled in a poetry workshop at the New School at age 57.The course instructor,Daniel Gabriel,a young poet, found her student poetry,as he told Spiegelman,“overwritten, obscurantist(故弄玄虚的)and difficult.”Yet her first full-length book of poetry, published in 1983,became an immediate classic.Prizes and publications followed.
When she appeared on the literary scene, like Athena leaping from the head of Zeus,it was often said that no one wrote poems like Amy Clampitt. But a close read of the poems of “The Kingfisher” and “Westward” and five books published over the last decade of her life makes clear her influences.
Also,Clampitt, though acting and appearing ageless, embodied (代表) the broad reading habits of another generation.Spiegelman, sadly, feels he has to explain:“Literature defined her,and it affected her work and her inner life.People in the 21st century may not understand a commitment of this sort.”
28.How did Spiegelman start “Nothing Stays Put:The Life and Poetry of Amy Clampitt”
A.By citing a poem.
B.By presenting a letter.
C.By discussing the book “The Kingfisher”.
D.By introducing Amy Clampitt’s growing experience.
29.What can we learn about Clampitt’s poetry career
A.She got into it at an early age.
B.She achieved immediate success.
C.She eased into it after many tries.
D.She failed even though she worked very hard.
30.What was the course instructor’s impression of Amy Clampitt
A.She was a gifted poet.
B.She was a well-published writer.
C.She was a student with a forced style.
D.She was a difficult-to-deal-with character.
31.What does the underlined part in paragraph 4 mean
A.Clampitt was not a literary woman.
B.Clampitt learned from celebrated poets.
C.Clampitt entered the literary world unwillingly.
D.Clampitt made a major impact upon entering the literary world.

Teaching Poetry
No poem should ever be discussed or “analysed”,until it has been read aloud by someone, teacher or student.Better still, perhaps, read it twice, once at the beginning of the discussion and once at the end,so the sound of the poem is the last thing one hears.
All discussions of poetry are,in fact, preparations for reading it aloud, and the reading of the poem is,finally, the most telling “interpretation” of it—suggesting tone, rhythm, and meaning all at once.Hearing a poet read in his or her own voice,on records or on films,is obviously a special reward. But even those aids to teaching can not replace the student and teacher reading it or,best of all, reciting it.
I have come to think,in fact, that time spent reading a poem aloud is much more important than “analysing” it,if there isn’t time for both.I think one of our goals as teachers of English is to have students love poetry.Poetry is “a criticism of life”,and “a heightening of life”.It is “an approach to the truth of feeling”,and it can “save your life”.It also deserves a place in the teaching of language and literature more central than it presently occupies.
I am not saying that every English teacher must teach poetry. Those who don’t like it should not be forced to communicate this to anyone else. But those who do teach poetry must keep in mind a few things about its essential nature, about its sound as well as its sense, and they must make room in the classroom for hearing poetry as well as thinking about it.
32.To have a better understanding of a poem,one should .
A.analyze it by oneself B.discuss it with others
C.practise reading it aloud D.copy it down in a notebook
33.According to the writer, one of the purposes of teaching English is to get students .
A.to enjoy poetry B.to become poets
C.to become teachers D.to understand life
34.What does the last sentence in the third paragraph imply
A.The teaching of poetry is more important than any other subject.
B.More importance should be given to the teaching of poetry.
C.Poetry is the foundation of all language and literature courses.
D.One cannot enjoy life fully without an understanding of poetry.
35.The underlined phrase “make room” in the last paragraph could be best replaced by “ ”.
A.provide equipment
B.build a school
C.set up a house
D.leave a certain amount of time
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
How to appreciate poems
Read poems aloud several times. Poems are meant to be heard as well as read on the page. Take the time to read the poem aloud and pay attention to how the words sound. 36
Look for literary devices like metaphors, similes, and personification.A metaphor compares two things to each other. 37 A simile compares two things using “like”or“as”.For example,“My love is like a flaming (火红色的) sun.”Both literary devices are used often in poems to create strong imagery for the reader. Personification is when an inanimate(无生命的)object is given human qualities. It is often used in poems about nature and technology to add deeper meaning to the subject.
Check for repetition and rhyme in the poem. Poets will use repetition, where the same word or phrase is repeated more than once,to emphasize it and let readers know it is important. 38 You can also look at rhyme in the poem to find deeper meaning. Think about how the rhymes give the poem structure.
39 Look for poetry readings at local cafes.Check if a poet you like is performing at a venue (活动场地) in your area and go to see them read.Live poetry readings are a great way to experience poetry as entertainment that you watch and listen to.
Start a poetry reading group.Another way to broaden your appreciation of poems is to create a reading group where you read and discuss poetry. 40 Make the meetings informal and casual(随意的)so everyone feels comfortable.Print out different poems for discussion and take turns reading the poems aloud.
A.Look for recordings of the poem online.
B.Go to a live poetry reading in your area.
C.For example,“My love is a red,red rose.”
D.Ask friends, family, teachers, and classmates to join the group.
E.Then, show them to family or friends and ask them what they think.
F.Try reading it aloud several times to deepen your understanding of it.
G.Check for repeated words in the poem and consider how they relate to the subject of the poem.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My little sister,Meg,said that she wasn’t afraid of the dark anymore and she’d be OK staying with Aunt Lily in the country.“As long as you’re there,Mike,” she had said.Still,Mum was worried.Meg had never slept away from home, away from the city.So I told Mum I could handle everything.
Even though we were only staying overnight,Meg had brought six books—all about fairies (仙子).After we unpacked,Aunt Lily invited us to pick some flowers. As we followed her through the forest,Meg held my hand tightly. But once we reached the sunlit grassland, she let go.“Butterflies!” whispered Meg.She screamed with delight when one flew near her.
Maybe I had nothing to worry about,I thought.I still remembered when I was here last summer,I found some amazing insects, like fireflies (萤火虫),which I’d never seen in the city.
“Fairies are magical.See these beautiful flowers they grow!” she kept telling absolutely everything she knew about fairies.I was glad that if she kept it up until bedtime, then maybe she’d fall asleep right.
Meg did keep chatting, right through supper. Then the sun began to set.“Does it get really dark out here at night ” she asked. Her eyes were fixed on the window.
“Sure, but we’ve got plenty of lights inside,” said Aunt Lily. She leaned over and gave Meg a warm smile. But I could tell she was still worried.“I could read to you.”
I hadn’t even finished a page when her bottom lip started shaking slightly.“Mike,” she said, her eyes starting to fill with tears.“I want to go home.” I quickly searched through her book for something to keep her from crying.
The book fell open to a page that was dog-eared from use,a page that was obviously one of Meg’s favorites. The text read:“Among the trees deep in the forest, the lights of fairies gleam (闪烁).” Aha! How could I forget those “tiny fairies” out there
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
“Meg,there’s something outside I want to show you,” I whispered.

“Tiny fairies,Mike!” she said, pressing her forehead against the window.“Everywhere!”

(17)Boys and girls,
Today,I’ll talk about how to get higher scores in a math test.Do you have a tough math test coming up How do you feel Are you stressed Does your mind go blank while taking the test Don’t be nervous.Just take it easy. Here is good news for you.Recently, researchers did an experiment.(20) They asked a group of students to listen to some piano music by a famous 18th century composer before taking a math test. They were surprised to find that the students’ scores jumped by eight to nine points on average.Meanwhile,(18) they discovered that classical music could excite a student’s brain activities.Similar activities also occur when a person is figuring out a math problem. However, researchers warned that before applying this method to your math test,(19) you should remember that brain-exciting effects only last 10 to 15 minutes.Would rock music work as well as the piano music do “No,” say the scientists. As a matter of fact, noisy music might even weaken a person’s reasoning ability.
Thank you for listening.Good luck!

I sha’n’t be gone long.—You come too.
Frost’s poems are not only fun to read, but they also teach us valuable lessons about life, love, and nature. They remind us to appreciate the world around us and to treasure the simple moments.

38.G [设空处承接上文。根据上文中的“Poets will use repetition ...let readers know it is important.”
根据上文中的“Another way to broaden...read and discuss poetry.”和下文中的“Make the meetings informal and casual so everyone feels comfortable.”

“Meg,there’s something outside I want to show you,” I whispered.Meg quickly covered her eyes with her hands.“I don’t want to look,” she sniffled.“Come to the window,OK It’s something you will like.” I promised. When we finally reached the window,I quietly switched off the lamp.Outside, thick chunks of trees reached up into black clouds of leaves and fireflies hovered around like twinkling stars.Meg pressed her hands against the window, pushing herself away. But then she noticed them. Her stiff arms relaxed.
“Tiny fairies,Mike!” she said, pressing her forehead against the window.“Everywhere!” They weren’t fairies,of course. But the winking lights really existed and were,in my opinion, better than the fairies.I wanted to tell Meg about these incredible insects that flashed in the dark, signaling to each other. Then I looked down into Meg’s shining eyes, and I decided she could learn about fireflies some other time.Meg was so absorbed in the breathtaking scene that she completely forgot her homesickness and soon fell asleep against my shoulder.I guessed it turned out that I could handle everything—with a little help from the magical fairies.
