" The best way to know the unknown is to go there, experience it and feel it with your heart," DuM
engran told Nature.
Called a“deep diver” by the famous science journal, the 38-year-old Chinese scientist played an im
portant role in the discovery of the world's deepest-known animal ecosystem. Earlier this month, she wa
s named on Nature's annual (年度的) list of 10 people of 2025.
A deep-sea scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Du has been diving with submersibles si
nce 2016. In 2024, she led a team with the Fendouzhe submersible on 24 dives in the northernPacific O
cean. There, they found a strange ecosystem. Instead of sunlight, it gets energy from chemicals (化学物
质), like methane (甲烷), that come out of the ocean floor.
In 2025, the team found more of these chemosynthetic(化学合成的) ecosystems in the southernPa
cific." We used to think nothing could live in such terrible conditions," Du said.
Diving in the sea can be challenging. The water pressure at the bottom of the ocean can be about1,0
00 times what we experience at sea level. That is why Fendouzhe is made with titanium (钛).Onboard th
e submersible, there is only a space 1.8 meters wide for three scientists. Seasickness(晕船)is also a probl
em." When I heard I was named one of Nature's 10, I couldn't even bring myself to celebrate because I w
as too worried about my team being seasick," Du said.
However, deep-sea exploration has the potential(潜力) to answer many questions, like the origin(起

It's often said that you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family. It's true.Siblin
g(兄弟姐妹) bonds(纽带) can last for life and may even help our brain health. That's according to a
new study by researchers in the US.
The research team used large data(数据) from the project that began in 1957. It followed 10,00
0US high school graduates and their siblings.
The participants were also asked to look back on their childhood and researchers tested the thin
king abilities of some older adults by telephone interviews.

Life is full of ups and downs. The ups will be meaningless if there are no downs. Everyone should learn t
o deal with different situations. Here's how you can start a new life.
Learn from others.
It is amazing to learn from the people who have the same problems. They know how hard the problems
are, so they can understand and help you. For example, they can give you some useful advice. When you lear
n from others, you can learn new ways of thinking. If people can deal with their problems successfully, they
can help you out of trouble easily.
Try everything.
Sometimes we may feel sad because we have tried so many different ways to solve a problem but none
works. In this kind of situation, try ways that you never thought of. One of them may improve the situation f
or you.
Let your past go.
You are not supposed to lock yourself in the room of the past if you want to be free. The terrible things
that happened in the past may bring you bad feelings. They are only going to make you very tired and unhap
py every day. You have to stay away from them. Don't hate the people who hurt you in the past as well. Wal
k to the future.
Do the right things.
A lot of people are busy doing the things that are of no use to them. For example, many people lose the
mselves in computer games or phones. Never do that. Think about your dreams and take action from now on.
