An initiative (倡议) for Greener Packaging
In response to the growing problem of packaging waste, the “Green Delivery initiative (倡议)” is calling on
everyone to adopt reusable express packaging. This is not just an environmental act but a step towards a sustainable
future.
Traditional cardboard boxes and plastic fillers are often used once and then discarded, creating a significant
amount of waste. Our solution is a circular system. We provide durable, reusable packaging boxes and padded
envelopes. After receiving your item, you can simply fold the packaging and drop it into any designated recycling
bin. We will collect, clean, and redistribute them for the next use.
By choosing reusable packaging, you are directly reducing deforestation and plastic pollution. It’s a simple
habit that collectively makes a tremendous difference. Every time you return a package, you are casting a vote for a
greener planet. Let’s work together to wrap the future in sustainability.

The Invisible Threat: Microplastics (微塑料)
When we think of plastic pollution, we often picture bottles and bags. However, a more insidious (隐伏的)
threat exists: microplastics. These are tiny plastic pieces, smaller than five millimeters, that are polluting our
environment on a global scale.
Microplastics come from various sources. They can be manufactured (生产) that way, like the microbeads
once common in cosmetics, or they can result from the breakdown of larger plastic items like water bottles or
fishing nets under sunlight and wave action. They are found everywhere—from the deepest oceans to the air we
breathe and the food we eat.
The potential health impacts are still being studied, but there is growing concern. These particles can be
ingested (摄入) by marine life and enter the food chain, eventually reaching humans. They may carry harmful
chemicals and cause physical damage to organs. To combat this, we must reduce single-use plastics, improve
wastewater treatment to filter out microplastics, and support research into biodegradable (可生物降解的)
alternatives. The fight against plastic pollution requires tackling both the visible and the invisible.

D. Because they are expensive to clean up.
39. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a way to fight microplastic pollution
A. Reducing single-use plastics.
B. Improving wastewater treatment.
C. Stopping all plastic production immediately.
D. Supporting research into biodegradable alternatives.
40. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Microplastics are a harmless form of pollution.
B. Plastic bottles are the only source of microplastics.
C. There is no solution to microplastics pollution.
D. Microplastics are a widespread and concerning pollutant that need to be addressed.
(D)
The world itself is becoming much smaller by using modern traffic and modern communication means (通信
方式). Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but it has brought new problems. One of the
biggest is pollution. To pollute means to make things dirty. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink
it and even hear it.
Man has been polluting the earth for a long time. The more people there are, the more pollution there will be.
Many years ago, the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used
up or the river was dirty in one place, Man moved to another place. But this is no longer true. Man is now slowly
polluting the whole world.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It’s bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind
of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us angry more
easily. Many countries are making laws to fight pollution. They stop people from burning coal in houses and
factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air.
Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. It is sure that if
there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is our home. We must take care of it. That means keeping the land, water and air clean. And we must
take care of the rise in population at the same time.
根据短文内容,判断下列句子正 (T)、误 (F)。
41. Life today is harder than it was hundreds of years ago and we meet new problems.
42. Many years ago, the problem wasn’t serious because people always moved.
43. Air pollution is serious, it kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water.
44. Pollution by SO2 is a kind of air pollution and caused by heavy traffic.
45. We must take care of the earth by keeping the land, water and air clean.

daughter and gold. The king had many rooms full of gold, but he wasn’t satisfied. He wanted to get even more gold.
One day when the king was taking a walk in his garden, an unknown visitor came to him. He told the king that
he could wish for anything the king wanted. At first the king did not believe the stranger, but finally he was
convinced (信服) “I wish to have more gold,” the king said. “Very well,” answered the stranger. “You shall have
your wish. From tomorrow, everything you touch will turn to gold.”
The next morning the king got out of bed early. He wanted to see if his wish had been given. First, he touched
a chair, then a flower, then a table. Everything he touched turned to gold! The king was very happy. Then, he sat
down to eat breakfast. But as soon as he touched his food, it turned to gold. The king began to worry. What would
happen if he couldn’t eat anything Just then his daughter came into the dining room. She ran to her father. But as
he touched her, she turned to gold.
The king was sad and worried. He went out to the garden. As he was walking, he saw the stranger again. The
king asked him to take back the wish. “I don’t want any more gold,” he cried. The stranger warned the king to be
sure this time. Then, he agreed to take back the wish.

Beauty is everywhere in our life. It’s common but precious. I sensed the power of beauty from that experience.
On my way home, I saw a good-looking young man who was riding by. He rode so fast that he knocked an old
lady down. Instead of stopping, he pretended not to see her and rode away. To my surprise, a girl ran forward at
once. She helped the lady stand up and took her home without asking for any return. What I saw was like a
beautiful picture which is still fresh in my mind and inspires me to offer help to others.
If we are willing to do what we can to help those in need, we can spread more beauty to the world.
