After staying at the International Space Station (ISS,国际空间站) for nine months, American astronauts Suni Williams and Barry Wilmore finally returned to Earth. The Space X Dragon spacecraft (航天器) took them home.
Williams and Wilmore arrived on the ISS in June 2024 for a week-long trip. However, because of problems with their spacecraft, the Boeing Starliner, they had to wait to return to Earth.
Life for the two astronauts in space was busy. They spent over 900 hours on science studies and did experiments that will help with future medical development. Williams also finished two spacewalks, bringing her total to nine-a new record for women astronauts.
To keep their bodies from getting too weak in the zero-gravity (零重力) environment, the astronauts exercised for at least two hours a day. They used special tools to copy the feeling of working out on Earth.
“We’re doing pretty well, actually. We’ve got food, we’ve got clothes. Both of us have trained to live and work on the International Space Station, and I think we’ve made the most of it,” said Williams.
Even with their efforts, they still became weaker. What’s more, Space travelers experience 100 times more radiation (辐射) than people on Earth, which may increase their risk of illness in the future.
The two astronauts not only worked in space but also did other things. For example, they wore Christmas hats and made video calls with their loved ones to celebrate the festival.

Dear Mom and Dad,
You have no idea what a busy week I’m having at Space Camp! Our timetable is full, but what we’re doing is great fun! We get up at 7:00 in the morning and have breakfast, and then it’s time for our daily report. We work in teams, and each team has a task to finish every day. Our team is making a two-stage rocket, and we’re hoping it will fly into the sky. After our daily report and some work with the team, it’s time for lunch.
When lunch is over, we do some other activities. Yesterday, I tried out the one-sixteenth Gravity (重力) Chair! It’s a great chair! It makes you feel you were on the moon. Tomorrow, I want to try the Manned Maneuvering Unit-in that special room we will work without any friction (摩擦). I hope I’ll also get to experience the Five Degrees of Freedom Chair-—they call it the 5DF. That’s a special kind of chair. It moves you back and forth-even upside down! We do other kinds of things, too. For example, the training center has a rock climber and a climbing trainer. There’s a pool, too, and we do water activities there. It’s a good thing that I brought my swimsuit!
I’m really having a good time. I’m so glad I came, even though I was a little nervous at first. But I miss you, and I’ll be glad to go home, too. The Space Camp leavers’ party will be on Friday afternoon—you’ll be there, right I want you to meet some of my friends and see the planetarium (天文馆) and the museum.
It’s almost time for “lights out.” I’ll call you on Thursday morning.
Love,
Sara

(24-25八年级下·浙江嘉兴·期末)Maybe you already have something you love doing and just need more time for it. Or maybe you haven’t found a hobby you really enjoy yet, and you’d like to try something new. A hobby is something fun you do in your free time, but not all hobbies are good for your health and happiness.
When choosing how to spend your time, think about how you feel afterward. Some people say looking at social media or watching shows is their hobby, but often they feel tired or empty after that. These activities may seem fun at first, but they can make you feel worse later. Dr. Hafeez calls this “popcorn brain”— jumping from app to app, always looking for something new. This habit can be bad for your brain (大脑) in the long run and make it hard to stop.
Dr. Kaiser says another problem with screen- based hobbies is that they usually keep you sitting for a long time, which can cause health problems over time.
So how do you pick a better hobby Dr. Vuu suggests thinking about seven parts of a healthy life: sleep, food, movement, feelings, thoughts, relationships, and purpose (目的). A good hobby can help with some of these. For example, doing group activities like yoga or running can help you move more, feel happy and make new friends. Helping others, like teaching or gardening, can make you feel useful and improve your mood.
There’s no right number of hobbies to have. Some people focus (聚焦) on one, others enjoy many. The key is to try new things from time to time. New experiences are good for your brain—and they help you connect with others too.
46.What does “popcorn brain” in the second paragraph most likely mean
A.A brain that forgets everything easily.
B.A brain that keeps moving between apps.
C.A brain that likes to eat popcorn while using apps.
D.A brain that works very slowly and can’t think clearly.
47.Why does the writer suggest trying new things sometimes
A.To keep up with fashion. B.To learn to use more apps.
C.To grow your brain and meet people. D.To become famous and make more money.
48.Which can be the best title for the passage
A.Why everyone should watch less TV B.How to make new friends through apps
C.Looking into the history of popular hobbies D.Choosing the right hobby for a healthier life
