□My favourite book is The Old Man and the Sea. It was written in 1952 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway. □ The book became popular very quickly. In 1953, it won the Pulitzer Prize.
□The main character is a fisherman who hasn’t caught anything for months. One day he catches a huge fish, but he has to fight for days to kill it. He finally succeeds, but he can’t pull the fish onto his boat. When the fisherman is on his way back, sharks eat the fish, leaving nothing but bones.

□This book has taught me not to give up or doubt myself. I’m inspired by how hard the fisherman fights, even though he loses the fish in the end. As Hemingway said, “Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” □Even though I’ve already read the book three times, I’m not tired of it yet. If you’ve never read Ernest Hemingway, I recommend this book.

Frankenstein (1818) is a Gothic horror novel by English writer Mary Shelley (1797-1851). The book was written while Shelly was staying in the Swiss Alps. She and her friends, who were also authors, challenged each other to write a ghost story, and one night the idea came to her. At first, the novel received mixed reviews because it was written by a female author. However, it later became very popular and is now considered one of the earliest examples of science fiction literature.
The story follows Victor Frankenstein, who develops a keen interest in science. He discovers a new way to create life and uses it to create a large human figure from the parts of dead people. When it comes to life, he runs away, and the creature escapes
too. It lives close to a family to observe them and learn their language. The monster is very strong and incredibly smart, and also naturally kind and sensitive. However, when it saves a girl’s life, the girl’s father shoots it, because he thinks it is attacking her. The creature escapes again and, in anger at mankind, seeks Frankenstein to take revenge. The story has a tragic ending.
I really liked the book and learnt a lot from it. I think it teaches us about the ethics of scientific discovery and having respect for life. It also shows how kindness is important and the terrible effects of revenge. I think everyone should read this classic.
The Secret Garden
The book was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was first published in 1911 in England. Many people think it is a classic children’s story about hope and friendship.
The main characters are Mary Lennox, a lonely girl, her cousin Colin, and their friend Dickon. The story is about Mary, who moves to her uncle’s big house. She finds a locked garden and works with her friends to make it beautiful again. They also help Colin become healthy and happy. The main events are: Mary finds the garden, makes new friends, and together they bring life back to the garden and themselves.
Sample Writing - B
From this story, I have learned that friendship and spending time in nature can help people heal and find joy. The book is full of hope and shows how even sad situations can change for the better. I really enjoyed reading it because it is both gentle and inspiring.
I would definitely recommend The Secret Garden to others. It is easy to read and teaches important lessons about kindness, patience, and the happiness that comes from caring for something—and someone—special.
