Fast fashion has changed the way we dress. Clothes are cheaper and easier to buy than ever before. But there is a hidden price: the environment. Every year, about 92 million tons of clothing are thrown away. That is like a garbage truck full of clothes being thrown away every second. Imagine all those shirts, pants, and dresses ending up in landfills (垃圾填埋场)!
To solve this problem, a group of Austrian researchers led by Thomas Harter has a smart idea: turn old clothes into stronger packaging paper. Instead of letting clothes rot (腐烂) in landfills, they give them a second life.
The process starts with cutting the clothes into tiny pieces. These pieces are put in a water-based solution (溶液), and then they go through a special machine. This step separates the cotton fibers (纤维). After that, the fibers are mixed with recycled paper pulp (纸浆).
Here’s the cool part: textile (纺织品) fibers are much longer than paper fibers. Because of this, they make the final paper stronger. The new paper looks a bit brown and has small spots (点) of color from the old clothes. But it works well for packaging and can be recycled just like normal paper.
The project is still new, but the team hopes to improve it by using some safe chemicals. This would make the process faster, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly. When the new method is ready, it could help reduce textile waste around the world. One more good thing The new paper is stronger, so it can be used longer. This means less paper will be thrown away when making packaging.
63.How does the writer lead into the topic of the passage
A.By listing the steps to recycle old clothes.
B.By telling a story about Austrian researchers.
C.By asking a question about the environment.
D.By showing the environmental problem caused by fast fashion.
64.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A.The way to cut the clothes into tiny pieces.
B.The environmental advantages the project can bring.
C.The process of turning old clothes into packaging paper.
D.The differences between textile fibers and paper fibers.
65.What makes the new paper stronger
A.Paper fibers. B.Small spots. C.Textile fibers. D.Safe chemicals.
66.What’s the theme of the passage
A.Art. B.Culture. C.Travel. D.Environment.
67.What would be the best structure of the passage
A. B. C. D.

A clay cat, usually with big eyes and a wide-open mouth, may look a bit scary at first. But in Yunnan, they are little guards that protect homes. They are called wamao—traditional clay cats that keep bad luck away and bring peace. In 2023, wamao became Yunnan’s provincial intangible cultural heritage (省级非物质文化遗产).
Zhang Hang, 32, is an inheritor (传承人) of Kunming wamao-making skill. He makes these cute clay cats in a small Kunming museum and also started the Heart Chamber Wamao Museum.
Zhang first saw wamao in 2012 when he studied folk art at Yunnan Arts University. He loved its special artistic style very much. After that, looking for old wamao became part of his daily life. With over 10 years of effort, his museum now has more than 700 wamao. He said wamao carries history, culture and people’s hope for a better life.
Once in 2021, he visited an ancient village and saw a wamao above. He tried to take it but failed. When he came back years later, both the house and the clay cat were gone. He said, “Even if the house was broken, the wamao stayed with it. It comes from the earth, protects the home and finally goes back to the earth.”
Since opening the museum in 2019, he has promoted (宣传) wamao through workshops and tours. To make a wamao, Zhang mixes clay, shapes it, dries and fires it. Skilled artists can finish one cat in a week, but Zhang says the true challenge is mixing tradition with new ideas. “It sometimes takes a month to create one that feels right,” he said. “The goal is to help this ancient craft find new meaning in modern society.”
68.Put the events about Zhang Hang into the correct order according to the passage.
①He opened the Heart Chamber Wamao Museum.

69.What can we infer from Zhang’s words in Paragraph 4
A.Wamao is made of earth and breaks easily.
B.Wamao is closely tied to people’s homes and nature.
C.Wamao can hardly be found or kept in the ancient village.
D.People should throw wamao back to the earth after using it.
70.What will Zhang Hang probably do to achieve his goal
A.Stick to the old ways of making wamao.
B.Try to spend more time promoting wamao.
C.Ask other artists to help him make wamao quickly.
D.Connect traditional wamao making with modern life.
71.What is Zhang Hang like according to the passage
A.Shy and polite. B.Calm and strict.

Once upon a time, an ant and a grasshopper (蚱蜢) lived in a lush (葱郁的) green field. The ant was hard-working and spent all summer collecting food and keeping it for the winter. On the other hand, the grasshopper spent all summer long singing and dancing, not caring to collect any food.
The ant realized that winter was coming and that he needed to get ready as the fall days became shorter and the temperature dropped. He put a lot of effort to get as much food as he could. Even though it was winter, the grasshopper continued to sing and dance.
The ant was warm and comfortable in his lovely underground house, happy with all the food he had accumulated (积累的), when the very first snow of the winter arrived. The grasshopper didn’t have food and shelter (庇护所;住处) and was hungry and cold.
He went to the ant and asked for some food. “Please, Ant, I didn’t prepare for the winter like you. Can you give me some of your food ” The ant thought for a moment and said, “I’m sorry, Grasshopper, but I worked hard all summer to collect this food. I can’t just give it away to someone who didn’t take the time to prepare.”
