重难语法突破
重难点一:询问他人职业的特殊疑问句
[解析]询问他人的职业时,用由 what引导的特殊疑问句,句型结构如下:
—— What is/ are+名词所有格/形容词性物主代词+ job(s)
—主语+ am/ is/ are(+a/ an)+表示职业的名词.
注意: be动词需要根据主语人称和数的变化而变化。当主语为第一人称时,be动词用am;当主语为第二人称或第三人称复数时,be动词用are;当主语为第三人称单数时,be动词用is。
[例句]1.—— What are your parents' jobs 你父母的工作是什么
—— They' re bus drivers.他们是公共汽车司机。
2.—— What's that tall woman's job 那位高个子女士是做什么工作的
—— She's a policewoman.她是一名警察。
[典例剖析]单项选择。
( )—— —— He's a farmer. He works on his fields every day.
A. What is he doing B. What's his job C. Is he a driver
点拨:由答句中“He's a farmer.”可知,问句询问的是职业,应用特殊疑问句,排除选项C;选项A是问现在正在进行的动作,可排除。故选 B。
[拓展]询问他人的职业时,还可以用以下句型:
(1) What+ is/ are+主语 ……是做什么的
(2) What+ do/ does+主语+ do ……是做什么工作的

重难点二:名词所有格
[解析]名词所有格用来表示某个名词所拥有的东西或与其相关的事物,通常是在名词后面加’s。其构成规则如下:
1.在单数可数名词或不可数名词后面加’s;
2.在以 s结尾的复数名词后面加’;
3.表示共同拥有时,在最后一个名词的后面加’s;
4.表示分别拥有时,每个名词的后面都加上’s;
5.表示无生命名词的所有格,通常用“of+名词”结构;
6.双重所有格的形式是“of+名词所有格”,其中的名词必须是表示人。
注意:“名词所有格+名词”作主语时,谓语动词的形式要和所有格后面的名词在数上保持一致。
[例句]1. Sally's skirt is very beautiful.莎莉的半身裙很漂亮。
2. Tom has a 20 minutes’ meeting on Monday morning.
汤姆在星期一早上有个20分钟的会议。
3. Lily and Lucy's mother is 30 years old.莉莉和露西的妈妈今年30岁。
4. Mr Smith's and Mr White's cars are both blue.
史密斯先生和怀特先生的小汽车都是蓝色的。
5. Can you tell me the name of the film 你能告诉我这部电影的名字吗
6. He is a friend of my father's.他是我爸爸的一个朋友。

点拨:由空后的“room”以及答句可知,此处表示 Jack和 Jim共同拥有的房间,则在后一个名字的后面加’s。故选 A。

易错辨析
易错点:动词或名词转变为职业类名词的规律
[解析]在英语中,有些动词或名词可以在词尾加上相应的后缀,变为表示从事这项工作的人的名词,即职业类名词。常见的词缀如下:
①-er: teach—— teacher ② -r(一般加在以 e结尾的动词后): dance——dancer
③-or: act—— actor(男演员) ④ -ress: act—— actress(女演员)
⑤-ist: art—— artist ⑥-ian: music—— musician
注意:有些名词后加 man/woman才能构成表示职业的复合名词,如 police—policeman/ policewoman。
[例句] 1. Tom is an excellent hunter. 汤姆是一名出色的猎人。
2. The famous actress acts as a queen in the musical.
这位著名的女演员在这部音乐剧里扮演一个女王。
3. I want to be a fireman when I grow up.长大后我想当一名消防员。
[典例剖析]用所给词的适当形式填空。
My brother is a . He can nice food.(cook)
点拨:第一个设空处意为“厨师”,故填 cook,而在 cook后加-er构成的 cooker不是职业名词,它意为“厨灶,炉具”;第二个设空处意为“烹饪”,且can为情态动词,后接动词原形,故填 cook。
