Wildfire and snowstorm.
Lead-in
Here are two stories about wildfire and snowstorm. Let’s read them, then learn to continue the chain story for them.
* Project
Work in a group to make a chain story about a wildfire or a snowstorm. Read the introductions of the two stories.
wildfire
During the hot and dry summer last year, my family
experienced the first natural disaster of our lives.
We were hiking in the mountains when lightning
flashed across the sky. The sky got darker and darker. And then we realized that we weren’t looking at clouds. It was smoke! There was a wildfire!

4a
Last winter, my family had a terrifying experience. It started one evening while we were enjoying a quiet night at home. My parents were watching TV while my
snowstorm
brother was doing his homework. I, on the other hand, was glued to my bedroom window. Thick snow was falling and the world outside was growing whiter and whiter.
Choose one introduction and continue the story. Take turns to add one or two sentences. You can use the example below to help you.
A: “Look!” my brother shouted. “I can see the fire over there!”
B: I had my phone out. I was ready to call for help.
C: My dad ...

How does each person continue the story
Add 1 to 2 sentences each person.
e.g.
A: “Look!” my brother shouted. “I can see the fire over there!”
B: I had my phone out. I was ready to call for help.
C: My dad stopped me. “No time for photos, kid!” he said. “That’s a wildfire, and it’s
moving fast. We need to leave now.”
A: My brother held Dad’s hand. “Do we go towards the lake we passed earlier ”
B: I hurried to catch up, asking worriedly, “Will the fire follow us My throat feels
uncomfortable.”
C: “Cover your mouth with this towel(毛巾). The lake is safe. We’re almost there!” he said.
D: My mum checked the sky as we walked. “The smoke is not getting closer yet, but let’s
keep moving until we see the water!”
A: My brother suddenly pointed ahead. “I see the lake! Look!”
B: I took a deep breath and said, “Sorry, I wanted to take photos... I won’t do that again in
danger.”
C: My dad smiled softly and said, “Mistakes sometimes happen—what matters is that we’re
all together and safe now.”
Choose one introduction and continue the story. Take turns to add one or two sentences.
