Have you ever used a 3D printer In the past, 3D printers were very expensive and only used in factories. But now, cheaper and smaller 3D printers are entering schools, libraries and even homes.
A 3D printer works by melting plastic and then laying it down layer by layer to build an object. You first design the object on a computer using special software. Then you send the design to the printer, and it creates the object in a few hours.
Students in a middle school in Texas used a 3D printer to create prosthetic (假肢) hands for children who lost their fingers. The cost of one prosthetic hand was only $30, while traditional ones cost thousands of dollars. “We are not just making things. We are changing lives,” said one student.
However, 3D printers also raise concerns. Some people use them to print weapons (武器) or copy copyrighted (有版权的) products. Many countries are now making laws to control what can be printed.
Despite these problems, 3D printing technology continues to grow. It has been used to print houses, food, and even human organs (器官) in labs. The future of 3D printing is full of possibilities.

When Sophia was 10 years old, she noticed that many stray (流浪的) cats in her neighborhood were hungry. She wanted to help, but she didn't have much money. So she came up with a creative idea — making and selling cat toys.

With the money, she bought cat food and built small feeding stations. She also worked with a local animal shelter to help get the cats adopted (领养).
News of Sophia's work spread. A TV station interviewed her. More people started to help. One company donated 500 pounds of cat food. Another donated blankets.
Now, at age 13, Sophia has helped more than 80 cats find new homes. She also teaches other children how to make cat toys. “You don't need to be a grown-up to make a difference,” she says. “You just need an idea and a kind heart.”

In 2025, a new kind of bus began operating in a city in Finland. It has no driver, no steering wheel, and no pedals. It is an autonomous (自动的) bus powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The bus uses cameras, radar, and GPS to “see” the road. It can detect pedestrians, other vehicles, and traffic lights. It drives slowly — about 20 kilometers per hour — but it is very safe. In test runs, it never caused an accident.
The bus is small and can carry only 10 passengers. It runs on electricity and produces no pollution. Passengers can call the bus using a mobile app. The bus will come to their stop and take them to their destination.
“This is not a replacement for big buses or trains,” said the city's transport official. “It is for short trips — from a parking lot to a shopping center, or from a train station to an office park.”
Some people are excited about the new bus. Others worry about job losses for drivers. The city plans to add more driverless buses in the next three years. They believe that with time, people will accept them.
30. How does the driverless bus detect the road
A. By following a human driver. B. By using cameras, radar and GPS.
C. By reading road signs. D. By receiving signals from satellites only.
31. What is the speed of the driverless bus

C. How to Drive a Bus D. The Danger of AI in Transportation
D
Every year, millions of tons of food are thrown away around the world. In some countries, up to 40% of all food is wasted. This is not only a waste of money but also bad for the environment. When food rots in landfills, it produces methane (甲烷), a gas that makes global warming worse.
But some people are fighting food waste in creative ways. A supermarket in Denmark sells expired (过期的) food at very low prices. The food is still safe to eat, but it cannot be sold in normal stores. Customers save money, and less food goes to the landfill.
In France, a law passed in 2016 requires supermarkets to donate unsold food to charities. Other countries, like Italy and Japan, have similar laws.
Individuals can also help. Plan your meals before shopping. Store food correctly to keep it fresh. Use leftovers to make new dishes. And if you have extra food, give it to a food bank or a neighbor in need.
“Every piece of food we save is a small victory for the planet,” said an environmental activist. “Small actions add up.”
34. Why is food waste bad for the environment
A. Because it costs too much money. B. Because rotted food produces methane.
C. Because it makes people hungry. D. Because it uses too much water.
35. What do supermarkets in Denmark do with expired food
A. Throw it into the sea. B. Donate it to poor countries.
C. Sell it at low prices. D. Turn it into animal feed.
36. What does the writer suggest individuals do
A. Buy more food than they need. B. Throw away leftovers every day.
C. Use leftovers to make new dishes. D. Stop eating fresh food.

七、书面表达(范文)
Teamwork is very important in our daily life. I still remember one experience that taught me the power of working together.
Last term, our class took part in a school “Clean the Park” activity. I was in a team of four. My job was to collect plastic bottles. Another member picked up snack bags, and two others cleaned the benches and paths. At first, we worked separately and moved slowly. Then we decided to help each other. I carried a large rubbish bag so my teammates could throw things in easily. We also took turns doing the heaviest work. By noon, we had cleaned the whole park — much faster than we expected.
From this experience, I learned that teamwork means sharing the work and supporting each other. When we work together, we can achieve more. No job is too big when everyone helps.
