wearing colorful clothing to get more dopamine.
Dopamine is a chemical in our brain. This kind of chemical makes people feel good. Usually

In April 2026, during the Water-Splashing Festival in
Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, as well as in Thailand, some bad and harmful
things happened. Some people used high-pressure water guns to spray
(喷射 ) at others on purpose, while some impolite men bothered young
women. The festival is originally a meaningful local custom to drive
away bad luck and welcome the new year, but some people celebrate it
in wrong ways and hurt people just for fun.
In fact, the Water-Splashing Festival is a special traditional celebration shared by
Thailand and the Dai people in Xishuangbanna, an autonomous prefecture of China. It
comes from ancient Buddhist (佛教 ) culture. As Buddhism spread across Asia, the
custom of splashing water gradually entered Southeast Asia and later reached Yunnan.
That is why the two places have such similar festival traditions, including the timing,
the use of clean water, and the belief in washing away bad luck.
Both Thailand and Xishuangbanna celebrate it in mid-April. People splash water
to express good wishes for the new year. Although their celebrations have small
differences—such as the length of the holiday, local music, or traditional dances—
their cultural roots are closely connected (相连 ). This festival shows the friendly
cultural bond between China and Thailand. In recent years, officials from both
countries have even worked together to promote it as a shared cultural treasure.
Therefore, we should keep its original spirit alive and celebrate it in a polite,
respectful way, not as an excuse for wild or harmful behavior (行为). Only by doing
so can this beautiful tradition continue to bring happiness and health to everyone.
61.What happened during the Water-Splashing Festival in April 2026
A. People celebrated it in a polite and traditional way.
B. The festival was canceled because of bad behavior.
C. Some people used high-pressure water guns and harassed women.
D. Everyone followed the custom of blessing others.
62.Where is Xishuangbanna
A. In Thailand. B. In India.
B. C. In Yunnan, China. D. In Southeast Asia.
63.Why do Thailand and Xishuangbanna have similar Water-Splashing Festival
traditions
A. Because they both celebrate New Year in April.
B. Because the festival comes from ancient Buddhist culture that spread across Asia.
C. ecause they decided to create the same festival together.
D. Because they learned from each other recently.
64.What is the correct way to celebrate the Water-Splashing Festival according to the
passage
A. Use high-pressure water guns to spray strangers.
B. Harass young women for fun.
C. Splash water in a polite and respectful way to express good wishes.
D. Stop celebrating it to avoid problems.
65.What is the writer's purpose in the last paragraph
A. To ask people to celebrate the Water-Splashing Festival in a proper way.
B. To describe the differences between Chinese and Thai festivals.
C. To explain why the Water-Splashing Festival should be celebrated.
D. To teach people how to make high-pressure water guns.
