W:Your mum really plays an important part in your career.So what is the hardest thing about creating your work
M:Finding the perfect words to fit what I wanted to say.There’s always a word or two that I might still write if given the chance.
W:Will there be more collections of poetry from Darcy
M:There will be more of something,I suppose,but maybe not poetry.I really don’t see myself as a poet.(9) Rather,I see what I wrote as a kind of writing that might inspire people in some way.

Employees are already seeing a difference as they have more control over the thermostat (恒温器),which provides a comfortable environment that is not only for the books.The system can ensure that no cold air makes its way into the building,maintaining a pleasant temperature for everyone inside.As a result,the newest service provides a space to escape the summer heat and the winter cold.
“Student success is a central objective of our university,” said Dean of the J.Willard Marriott Library and university librarian,Alberta Comer,on the library website.“Nowadays,more and more students will take library services into account when picking a school,so a good library is an advantage to attract more excellent students.And the Marriott Library is continually striving to ensure that—both with traditional and new services.”
This installation,like any change,took a whole team.The efforts of staff in University Planning played a big role.Non-university forces also chipped in to make this change possible.Spectrum Engineers,a company over 30 years old that has been helping the University with a campus-wide public service distribution upgrade,worked on the project.Wasatch Controls,which has 13 years of experience in building automation and security systems,was also up for the job along with ETC Group,another 30-year-old company aiming to improve building performance.

The researchers,however,found that Venus’s atmosphere is too dry to have supported oceans.The planet’s atmosphere lacks enough water,which would have evaporated (蒸发) as the planet warmed over time.
There are two main theories about Venus’s history:Either the planet has always been as hot as it is today,so water never existed in liquid form,or Venus gradually became hotter due to the greenhouse effect,causing any water to evaporate.The Cambridge team took a different approach by studying Venus’s current atmospheric chemistry.They calculated (计算) the rates at which water and other gases are destroyed in Venus’s atmosphere.Unlike Earth’s volcanoes,which release mostly water vapor,Venus’s volcanoes release only about 6% water.This suggests that Venus’s volcanic magma contains very little water.

In my view,importing avocados from different areas of Mexico and the world to reduce the single market share may be the most effective environmental protection strategy.In 2022,the USDA approved imports of avocados grown in the Mexican state of Jalisco.This is a start,but Jalisco will follow Michoacán’s lead unless the U.S.finds more sources and develops more avocado sorts.

A watched pot never boils,but time flies when you’re having fun.These all-too-familiar sayings have a basis in solid science—our sense of time expands and contracts (收缩) depending on the way we experience the world around us.This is not just a general impression of time’s passage.It also has a great deal to do with psychology.
“There are a lot of illusions (错觉) of time,” says Martin Wiener,a scientist at George Mason University.Recently,his team have found that more memorable images seem to last longer,and these lasting images also appear to be more memorable.Looking at red objects makes time pass slower than staring at blue ones.The slowdown also occurs when inspecting bigger and brighter objects.
To understand how the memorability of an image might relate to our sense of time,the team conducted four experiments,in which participants were shown images with different time periods.They were asked to hold down a button,either “short” or “long”,to indicate the length of time the image was displayed on the screen.Participants perceived that more memorable images remained on the screen longer and that they were more likely to recall them later.
These results suggest that images aren’t just more memorable if people look at them for a longer time,a well-established effect.Images are also more memorable if people perceive that they have looked for longer when they really haven’t.This suggests that there is some underlying factor that is causing both of these effects.
The team later found that more memorable images were processed faster.They help the brain process more information in a limited time.This is especially relevant (有关的) to the brain’s visual system.With limited resources,the visual areas have to set priorities.In other words,memorable images may be memorable because they’re just easy for our systems to process.Why faster processing would make time last longer is still a mystery,however.For now,the most reasonable explanation for why our brain slows time is that it is increasing the amount of information it can take in at once.
