Ever since I was 5 years old, my mother had been a volunteer at the Nanjing Museum. This meant that every weekend, I spent my time among ancient exhibits (展品). I also listened to stories and took part in activities. And it was in my junior high school years that I decided to become a museum volunteer myself.

Ever since I was 5 years old, my mother had been a volunteer at the Nanjing Museum. This meant that every weekend, I spent my time among ancient exhibits (展品). I also listened to stories and took part in activities. And it was in my junior high school years that I decided to become a museum volunteer myself.
The journey began with fun training lessons. I learned about the collection, exhibition planning and visitor guidance. Among the different skills needed for a museum volunteer, especially a guide, strong communication abilities are seen as important. We were taught how to talk with visitors. Now as a volunteer, I realize museums are not just about old objects. They connect us to our history and culture. Every time I see visitors’ excited faces, I feel happy. I will keep learning and sharing these wonderful stories with others. Maybe one day, I can inspire others to love museums too!
