Teenagers today do not get enough sleep because of heavy homework, using phones late at night, and early school start times. According to a new study, lack of sleep can cause many health problems, such as poor memory, weight gain, and even heart problems in the future.
The study was done by a health research center in the United States. It found that teenagers who sleep less than seven hours a night are more likely to feel sad and anxious. They also do worse in school than those who sleep at least eight hours. The study shows that sleep helps the brain remember what it learns during the day. Without enough sleep, students may forget things easily and find it hard to pay attention in class.
“Many teenagers stay up late watching videos or playing games on their phones,” the study said. “The blue light from screens makes it harder for them to fall asleep. Over time, this can lead to serious problems like high blood pressure and a weak immune system.”
According to the study, about 70% of teenagers in the survey do not get the recommended amount of sleep. Experts say that turning off screens one hour before bed and keeping a regular sleep schedule can help a lot. Parents and schools should also work together to reduce students’ stress and homework load.
70. Teenagers who sleep less than seven hours a night are more likely to ________.
A. have heart problems immediately B. feel sad and anxious

A. To tell teenagers to stop using phones forever.
B. To explain the causes and bad effects of teens’ sleep problems.

Many teenagers feel upset easily when they grow up, and the reasons are different. Some feel upset because of pressure from friends. Some feel upset because they have problems with teachers. Others feel upset because they are lonely or left out. No matter what the reason is, it is very important to learn how to deal with these feelings in a good way.
My friend Tom is a 13-year-old boy. He often feels upset because he has trouble getting along with his classmates. Sometimes they make fun of his old shoes and don’t ask him to join their group activities. Last month, Tom was chosen to give a speech in class. But when he stood on the stage, he saw some classmates whispering and laughing. He felt so embarrassed and sad that he almost cried.
His older sister saw he was sad and asked him what happened. She told him not to keep his feelings inside. Instead, she said he could talk to his class teacher about it. Tom took her advice. The teacher had a talk with the whole class about respect and kindness. After that, some classmates said sorry to Tom, and one even became his close friend.
