B)Living in Iowa and trying to
become a photographer specializing in landscape (风景) can
be quite a challenge, mainly because the corn state lacks geographical variation.
Although landscapes in the Midwest tend to be quite similar, either farm fields or highways, sometimes I find distinctive character in the hills or lakes. To make some of my landscape shots, I have traveled up to four hours away to shoot within a 10-minute time frame. I tend to travel with a few of my friends to state parks or to the countryside to go on adventures and take photos along the way.
Being at the right place at the right time is decisive in any style of photography. I often leave early to seek the right destinations so I can set up early to avoid missing the moment I am attempting to photograph. I have missed plenty of beautiful sunsets/sunrises due to being on the spot only five minutes before the best moment.
One time my friends and I drove three hours to Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin, to climb the purple quartz (石英) rock around the lake. After we found a crazy-looking road that hung over a bunch of rocks, we decided to photograph the scene at sunset. The position
enabled us to look over the lake with the sunset in the background. We managed to leave this spot to climb higher because of the spare time until sunset. However, we did not mark the route (路线) so we ended up almost missing the sunset entirely. Once we found the place, it was stressful getting lights and cameras set up in the limited time. Still, looking back on the photos, they are some of my best shots though they could have been so much better if I would have been prepared and managed my time wisely.
24. How does the author deal with the challenge as a landscape photographer in the Midwest?( )
A. By teaming up with other photographers.
B. By shooting in the countryside or state parks.
C. By studying the geographical conditions.
D. By creating settings in the corn fields.

To make some of my landscape shots ...the countryside to go on adventures and take photos along the way.
25. What is the key to successful landscape photography according to the author?( )
A. Proper time management.
B. Good shooting techniques.
C. Adventurous spirit.
D. Distinctive styles.

26. What can we infer from the author’s trip with friends to Devil’s Lake? ( )
A. They went crazy with the purple quartz rock.
B. They felt stressed while waiting for the sunset.
C. They reached the shooting spot later than expected.
D. They had problems with their equipment.

However, we did not mark the route ...it was stressful getting lights and cameras set up in the limited time.
27. How does the author find his photos taken at Devil’s Lake?( )
A. Amusing.
B. Satisfying.
C. Encouraging.
D. Comforting.

(2025 安徽马鞍山二模)When handball was introduced to Sri Lankan schools in 2010, I wanted to bring it to my school, St Anthony’s, in the remote village of Wasalakotte. This became a challenging task as the sports teacher was unwilling to initiate anything other than traditional sports, such as cricket and rugby.
However, I decided to start this game.Handball is a fascinating (有吸引力的) game which combines speed, technical precision, skill and teamwork. The boys were immediately interested and 40 students aged between 13 and 19 signed up to play. And I had the support of their parents.
Heshan Pradeep, a St Anthony’s graduate who was a member of the Air Force handball team, volunteered to coach the team.Although handball is an indoor game, we trained outdoors as our school had limited facilities.“It will ruin their studies!” complained some of the teachers. But I managed to get the game going.
After three months of hard training, we were able to send an under -19s boys’ team to compete with 50 other schools at the first three- day, all-island school handball tournament held in Colombo — the country’s most populous city. Our boys played remarkably well and reached the final.
And that was when the real game started.Students, parents, teachers and old boys from Colombo schools joined forces against us, saying they wouldn’t allow the cup to be taken out of Colombo. Some Colombo students waved leaves and danced and sang their songs to our boys.Even the referees (裁判) favored the Colombo schools.Defeated, the boys fell to the ground, sad and disappointed.
intimidate
A few weeks after the defeat, I turned to Vonho, Heshan’s coach.Vonho agreed to coach the team in his free time. The following year, the boys claimed the victory they deserved.

(2025 湖北八市二模)Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing a bad fall, largely attributed to my ADHD (多动障碍) drugs running out. This has made it challenging for me to find the motivation to tackle daily tasks, including regular exercise.
However, a recent workout led to an epiphany: neglecting physical activity was actually worsening my condition. It appears that engaging in physical activity could be an effective strategy for managing my ADHD symptoms while I await a prescription refill.
After a workout, my mind feels quieter, much like when I take my medication. This makes sense as ADHD drugs increase levels of a brain medical called noradrenaline (去甲肾上腺素), enhancing focus, memory, and impulse control.Exercise also increases this chemical.
While these insights are promising, I’m not ready to stop my medication.Research on exercise and ADHD has mixed results.A 2023 review of 106 studies showed exercise significantly improves impulse control, attention, and task-switching in young people with ADHD. memory is less pronounced, and the benefits are even less for adults. In another study, 10 minutes of exercise improved impulse control in 82 adults with ADHD but had no effect on other symptoms.
These findings suggest that exercise has a modest effect on ADHD but highlight additional benefits beyond physical health. The evidence is particularly strong for depression and anxiety.A 2023 review of nearly 300 trials involving over 15,800 adults found physical activity as effective as talk therapy and medications in reducing symptoms. The benefit was stronger when combined with these treatments.
Exercise may also alleviate symptoms of other mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It appears protective as well.A 2018 study of over 12 million adults found that those who exercised experienced 43 percent fewer days of poor mental health than those who didn’t.The link was strongest for team sports, cycling, and aerobic and gym activities.
I’m relieved to have found a strategy for managing my ADHD symptoms without medication.Even though exercising is the last thing I want to do when overwhelmed, I now realize its importance. The benefits of exercise for mental health are clear, and I’m committed to making it a priority in my life.

(2026 福建名校联盟模拟)A new study shows choosing exercise you enjoy is vital for lasting benefits like strength gains and stress relief.“People try to become more active but struggle to sustain the changes,” said Dr Ronca from UCLA. “We examined how personality affects this to develop better health interventions.”
In this study, researchers assessed 132 participants’ fitness level and personalities, and then divided them into two groups: half took part in an eight-week program combining cycling and strength training, while the other half were a non-exercise control group.During the exercise program, participants were asked to rate their enjoyment of each exercise session, before having their fitness level tested again once the program had been completed.
Clear links appeared between personality and preference.Extroverts (外向者) particularly enjoyed high-intensity exercise sessions.
Participants who scored high on anxiety engaged well with the program but preferred short bursts of intensity over longer efforts. They also preferred not being monitored, suggesting these individuals might appreciate being given space for independence and privacy.Highly hardworking and reliable individuals demonstrated strong self-discipline and overall fitness gains, likely motivated by health benefits rather than enjoyment itself.
At the beginning of the study, the stress levels of the intervention group and the control group were similar. However, the only participants to experience a significant reduction in stress levels after exercising were those with high tendency to worry, suggesting tailored exercise offers them particular stress relief benefits.
When choosing a sport, the public should consider personal interests rather than blindly following trends. The most important thing people can do to improve their activity levels is to find something that they enjoy, making exercise a truly sustainable habit.“We found some clear links
between personality and exercise preferences, which could potentially be used to personalize physical activity recommendations and help people to become and remain more active,” said Dr Ronca.
