(2026 湖南怀化开学考试)A recent study reveals that the ability to see things from others’ perspectives (观点) may augment creativity. Researchers from the University of Vienna conducted experiments with young Chinese adults to examine how different types of empathy (同理心) relate to creative thinking and achievement.
The study measured two kinds of empathy: cognitive empathy (understanding others’ points of view) and emotional empathy (sharing others’ feelings). Participants completed questionnaires
about their empathic tendencies and reported their creative activities over the past year, such as writing, inventing, or artistic pursuits.
Researchers also analyzed long-term data from China’s Gene-Brain-Behavior Project to track creative development.
Results showed that people with stronger cognitive empathy engaged in more creative activities and achieved greater success in fields like visual arts, science, and writing. Interestingly, emotional empathy didn’t show the same connection to creativity. The benefits of perspective- taking appeared strongest in areas requiring innovative thinking rather than technical skills like music performance.
Further analysis suggested that understanding different viewpoints might stimulate creativity by exposing individuals to diverse ways of thinking. However, the emotional aspect of empathy didn’t contribute similarly, possibly because it requires mental energy that could otherwise be used for creative work. The findings highlight how developing our ability to see through others’ eyes might be an effective way to boost creative potential, especially in fields that value novel approaches and solutions.
Whatever the case, the findings suggest that increasing your ability to take someone’s perspectives might be a good thing for your creativity. Fortunately, empathy can be cultivated through deliberate effort. One effective method is to engage with books or watch TV or films and mentally place yourself in the characters’ shoes, thereby building your perspective-taking muscles. You can also build empathy by interacting with people who are different from you in some ways, while being curious about their inner life and deeply listening to their perspectives.

(2026 河南安阳模拟)People who have a strong drive for novel experiences and touch-related sensations are especially drawn to “e- fashion”, according to a new study. E-fashion refers to digital clothing that people — or more precisely their avatars (虚拟替身) — can wear in virtual environments and represents a growing online trend. In theory, digital clothing is also more sustainable than physical clothing, says study team member Kokho Jason Sit.
In order to improve the environmental sustainability of the fashion industry, digital clothing must actually replace physical clothing purchases. The new study, which investigated what makes people willing to pay for digital clothing, doesn’t directly address this issue, but it does suggest that digital clothing could have some surprising consumer dynamics.
Sit and his colleagues conducted two online surveys. The first one included 331 consumers in the UK who completed a questionnaire about their tendency to seek out novel sensations and experiences. Then they were shown a digital sports jacket and asked to rate its uniqueness and how much they were willing to pay for it. The second survey involved 220 consumers in the United States and focused on a digital sports shoe. In addition to the questionnaire about sensory-seeking tendencies, participants completed a questionnaire about their need for touch to evaluate products and enjoy experiences.
In both surveys, the greater the perceived uniqueness of digital clothing, the higher the consumer’s willingness to pay for it, the researchers report in the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management. This pattern was most obvious for people with high sensory-seeking tendencies and a greater need for touch. Sit says he and his team members were surprised by the positive effects of the need for touch on consumers’ willingness to pay for e-fashion.
Will digital clothing scratch people’s itch for clothing novelty, enabling people to try fashionable designs, rare limited-edition styles, or even sci-fi looks that can’t exist in the real world? Or the opposite — will it just provide a new area for additional consumption? These are the questions that researchers will answer in the future.

(2026 辽宁鞍山一模)Why might you be attracted to one face over another? It’s an age-old question thought to be too subjective to be worth serious scientific analysis until recently. But attractiveness is not, as you might at first think, linked with distinctiveness; It’s actually the opposite.
Studies have repeatedly shown that when it comes to which faces we prefer, we are more impressed by averageness. Researchers created artificial faces on a computer by combining photos of several people’s
faces to generate a composite, “average” image. In preference trials, these highly average faces were consistently rated most attractive.
As well as averageness, there is another important influence on how physically attractive a person’s face is perceived to be. A simple research study shatters whatever romantic notions you may hold. Male and female volunteers looked at a series of smiling female faces and were asked to rate the attractiveness of each one.
Some of the faces they saw just once, while others they saw six times. By the end of the study, the repeatedly viewed faces were picking up higher attractiveness ratings for no other reason than the added exposure. Did you think familiarity leads to contempt? You couldn’t be more wrong.
This tendency is known to psychologists as the “mere exposure effect”. It applies to many different situations. Research has shown that people will evaluate photographs, sounds, shapes, names and even made-up words more positively if they have encountered them before.
While these studies witness the importance of looks when it comes to romance, there is still hope for us all. If you are not blessed with the average features that most of us apparently deserve, then simply presenting yourself as often as possible to the object of your desire may overcome this. Harness the “mere exposure effect” to your advantage in the hope that your crush will develop a liking for the familiar. Perseverance can win out in the end.

(2026 山东日照一模)Patience is a virtue because it cultivates inner strength and sound judgment. In a world that often feels rushed and demanding, the ability to wait calmly and tolerate delays really empowers us to make clear-headed decisions. 13. Thus it can prevent us from making choices in a hurry that could have negative consequences.
With patience, we’re able to handle challenges with a level head. It helps us to focus on long-term goals rather than short-term setbacks. Things can’t always go according to plan. 14. It gives us the strength and determination to remain optimistic. Cultivating patience allows us to appreciate the process of growth and helps us handle difficulties with grace.
  15. But we can remain calm, peaceful, and happy regardless. Patience plays its most important role in our interactions with people. With patience, we don’t explode at people easily. We work on gathering more information and looking for a solution instead.
Another important key to patience is gratitude. Instead of focusing on what we want right now, we focus on being grateful for what we already have. When we are grateful for what we have, we improve our ability to be patient. 16. If you resist this, you suffer. That suffering creates more impatience. But if you accept that one of the guarantees of life is change, you will relax.
Patience is being present, examining your options, and working to move forward. If things work out, then great. But if they don’t, then we try something else. It’s just that simple. There is so much good in developing the virtue of patience. It takes work, it takes effort, but there are so many benefits of developing patience. 17.
A. It’s necessary to make early plans.
B. However, we must realize that life changes.
C. This promotes a great sense of achievement.
D. Patience may not always give us what we want.
E. Being patient helps us avoid acting out of anger.
F. Patience improves our ability to deal with frustration.
G. With patience, you will find life flows more beautifully.
