Andy was grateful. He never complained. He didn'twant to start a fight. So, he'd sigh and quietly take out the garbage, thinking it was a small price for such a good friend. But he'd been home for two weeks - and returned to this. Now, holding the letter, he felt it was a big mistake. "I've been cleaning up his mess, and I get fined too " he thought in frustration. This wasn't fair. His usual "avoid trouble"plan had failed.

Paragraph 1: Noah's aching hands seemed to agree with his brother's words. He let his shovel drop with a thud, rubbing his numb fingers together. Every muscle in his body screamed for rest. Maybe Lucas is right, he thought, looking at the long stretch of untouched snow still covering half the driveway. She’ll never know. We could just go now, and still have the twenty dollars. But as he slipped his hand into his pocket, his fingers brushed against the bill. Suddenly, he saw again Mrs. Williams’s encouraging smile and heard her words: “I’ll leave it in your capable hands.” A wave of shame washed over him, hot against the cold. He took a deep breath, the frosty air stinging his lungs. “No,” he said, his voice firm despite his exhaustion. “We made a promise. We finish what we start.” He bent down, picked up his shovel, and drove it into the snow. Lucas hesitated for a moment, then, with a sigh that was more resignation than frustration, he too picked up his shovel.
