1 The sun was shining over the parking lot of the sports centre. My best friend Janey and I stood by an old truck. It belonged to the company that had just laid new grass on the football field. There was still a lot of extra grass in the back-left over from the job.

5 Just then, a security guard of the parking lot came around the corner. “Hey! What are you doing there ”he called out.
6 My heart jumped. Janey quickly pulled me behind the truck. As we moved, we touched the tailgate（后挡板）by accident and it burst open-several rolls of grass fell to the ground with a dull sound. The guard hurried over. "What's going on here " he asked, his eyes on the fallen grass.
Staring at the green rolls on the concrete, Janey looked at me, her face pale but determined."Now we really have to do something," she whispered.

Then,we walked towards the security guard and explained. With a shaky voice, I told him about the small empty lot near our school, "We have noticed the ugly empty lot and simply want to make it beautiful with the leftover grass." Janey added that the grass would dry out if left in the sun. We admitted it was wrong to even just think of taking the leftover grass without permission. The guard listened quietly, looking at the burning sun. Then, he took out his phone and called the company about our intention.

Then, we removed the weeds, old bottles, and broken bricks. After that, we unrolled the grass and put it onto the lot. The guard even helped us to water the grass using a basin from the sports centre. At sunset, the ugly lot looked greener, softer,and more beautiful. Seeing this, we laughed for the first time that day. On the way home, we felt tired but deeply proud of what we'd done together.
