Some people think volunteering is a modern western idea. But is that really true In fact, traditional Chinese culture has always encouraged to help others, but in a down-to-earth (脚踏实地的) way.
There is an old Chinese saying: “When you face difficulties or hardships, stay true to your values and be a good person.” This means that helping others is not something you only do at special events. It should be a part of your daily life.
What can you do when you don’t have much ability You don’t need to wait until you become rich. A warm smile to someone feeling down, a few minutes of listening to a friend in trouble, or holding the door for an elderly person — these small acts are also volunteering. They don’t cost money, but they cost care.
