A
Liu Qian is a handsome young man. He was born in Taiwan on June 25, 1976.
He is very popular in China after he performed his magic show during the 2009
Spring Festival gala (春晚).
Liu Qian first became interested in magic at the age of 7. While shopping with
his parents, he was attracted by the magic shop. He saw the shopkeeper making coins
disappear. From then on, he began working on his magic skills. Later Liu Qian had
two teachers, but they couldn’t give him much help. He had to learn by himself.
At the age of 12, he won Taiwan’s Youth Magic Contest (比赛) in 1988. Over
100 children took part in the contest. He didn’t expect any awards because the
others brought lots of expensive equipment(设备). But he succeeded. It showed him
that his efforts could finally lead to success.
However, Liu Qian didn’t expect to become a magician. And he chose to study
Japanese literature at university, practicing magic in his spare time.
After graduation, he failed to find a job. In order to make money, he had to
perform on the streets for workers, officials, students… It’s very hard for him to
perform on the street. He had to meet accidents sometimes, but he insisted and never
gave up. He said, “In fact, my hands are stupid. For one action, I often repeat many
times, even a thousand times. I feel and practice slowly. And my eye sight is not
good. ”
In 2001, Liu Qian started a TV show called Magic Star. It quickly became one of
the most popular shows in China. So far, he has won many other wonderful awards.

It is very important to be able to control yourself. Losing control may bring

Once a boy often made trouble. His mother gave him many nails (钉子) She
asked him to hammer (锤、钉) one in the garden fence every time he lost his patience

Now the environment is becoming worse and worse. Water pollution is
serious and we are short of water. Air pollution does great harm to
people’s health. People cut down too many trees, causing soil erosion
and desertification. White rubbish is everywhere.
To protect the environment, we should take action at once. First, we
should save water and stop pouring waste water into rivers. Second, we
can go out by bike or on foot to reduce air pollution. Third, plant more
