The Old Man and the Sea
Santiago, an old fisherman
The story follows an old fisherman named Santiago, who hasn’t caught a fish for months. One day, he ventures far out into the sea and catches a huge marlin. He fights with the fish for days, but on his way back to shore, sharks eat the marlin, leaving only its bones.
This book has taught me the true meaning of perseverance. Even though Santiago loses the fish in the end, he never gives up. I was deeply inspired by his courage and fighting spirit.

For my favourite English book, I’ve chosen Ernest Hemingway’s novel The Old Man and the Sea. Hemingway wrote the story in 1952. The story is about an old fisherman named Santiago, who hasn’t caught a fish for months. One day, he catches a huge marlin, but sharks eat it on his way back. My favourite part is when he fights with the marlin for days. The quote "A man can be destroyed but not defeated" has inspired me a lot. I think this book teaches us never to give up, even when things are hard. I highly recommend it!
