Dear Li Ming,
How are you I hope you are doing well. I’m writing to tell you about my life in Australia.
I’ve been here for three months as an exchange student. At first, everything was strange to me. The food was different, the people spoke fast, and I often got lost on my way to school. I felt lonely and missed my family very much.
But now things have changed. I’ve made some new friends. They are very friendly and helpful. One of them, Tom, teaches me how to play Australian football. It’s exciting! I’m also getting used to the food here. Vegemite (一种澳洲食物酱) is still a little strange to me, but I’ve learned to like meat pies and lamingtons.
The school here is quite different from ours. Classes start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Students can choose many subjects like music, art, and drama. I’ve chosen photography as my elective. It’s really fun!
I’m learning a lot about Australian culture. Next week, my host family will take me to the Sydney Opera House. I can’t wait to see it with my own eyes!
Please write back and tell me what’s new in China.
Yours sincerely,
Wang Wei

In recent years, “Chinese-style Parents” (中国式家长) has become a hot topic on the Internet. People use this term to describe parents who make almost all decisions for their children, from what to wear to what career to choose. They often use the sentence “I’m doing all these for your own good” to explain their actions.
Many teenagers feel stressed under such parenting style. They think their parents don’t respect their opinions and feelings. Some even become rebellious (叛逆的) and do the opposite of what their parents expect.
However, it’s important to understand that most Chinese parents act this way out of love and worry. They want to protect their children from making mistakes. They believe that with their life experience, they can help their children avoid detours (弯路).
So what can we do to solve this problem First, children should try to communicate with their parents more often. Let them know your thoughts and feelings. Second, parents should learn to trust their children and give them more freedom to make their own decisions. After all, making mistakes is also part of growing up.
Finding a balance between love and freedom is the key to building a healthy parent-child relationship.

Have you ever noticed how much time you spend on your phone every day According to a recent study, the average teenager spends about 7 hours a day looking at screens. That’s more time than they spend sleeping!
While smartphones bring us many conveniences, they also cause some problems. Too much screen time can lead to eye strain (疲劳), poor sleep, and even anxiety. What’s worse, it may affect our ability to communicate face-to-face.
So how can we reduce our screen time Here are some tips:
First, set a specific “no-phone time” every day. For example, you can decide to put away your phone during meals or one hour before bedtime.
Second, find other activities to fill your free time. You could read a book, play a sport, or learn a new hobby. These activities are not only good for your health but also help you develop new skills.
Third, use apps that track (追踪) your screen time. Many phones now come with built-in features that show how much time you spend on different apps. Seeing the numbers might surprise you and encourage you to make changes.
Remember, you are the one in control of your phone, not the other way around. Try to spend more time on real-life experiences and less time on screens. Your eyes, your mind, and your relationships will thank you.

In ancient China, there was a famous general named Yue Fei. He lived during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279) and is remembered as one of the greatest national heroes in Chinese history.
Yue Fei was born into a poor family in Tangyin, Henan Province. When he was young, his mother taught him to be loyal (忠诚的) to his country. She even tattooed (刺字) four characters —“ Jing Zhong Bao Guo” (Serve the country with total loyalty) — on his back to remind him of his duty.
At that time, the Jin army from the north invaded (侵略) the Song Dynasty. Yue Fei joined the army to fight against the invaders. He led his army, known as the Yue Family Army, to win many battles. His soldiers were well-trained and disciplined (纪律严明的). They lived by the rule: “Do not take anything from the people, not even a single blade of grass.”
However, Yue Fei’s success made some corruptofficials jealous. The Prime Minister Qin Hui spread false rumors (谣言) and caused Yue Fei to be called back from the battlefield. Yue Fei was finally put in prison and killed on false charges. Before his death, he wrote a famous poem expressing his loyalty: “My hair stands up in my helmet (头盔). The rain has just stopped.”

51.Garbage sorting (垃圾分类) has become an important part of our daily life. It helps reduce pollution and save resources. Here are some tips on how to sort garbage correctly.
First, understand the four types of garbage: recyclable waste, kitchen waste, hazardous (有害的) waste, and other waste.
Recyclable waste includes paper, plastic, glass, and metal. Before throwing them away, make sure they are clean and dry. Kitchen waste refers to food leftovers and fruit skins. This type of waste can be turned into fertilizer (肥料). Hazardous waste includes things like batteries, medicine, and paint. These items can harm the environment if not disposed of (处理) properly, so they should be put into special bins. Other waste includes everything that doesn’t fit into the first three categories, such as used tissues and broken toys.
Second, make it a habit. You can set up different bins at home and label them clearly. Start with small steps, and soon it will become second nature.
Finally, spread the word. Tell your family and friends about the importance of garbage sorting. The more people join, the better our environment will be.

52.Alibaba founder Jack Ma once said, “Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.” This famous quote has encouraged millions of young people to follow their dreams. However, many people forget the most important part: the majority of people die tomorrow night and cannot see the sunshine the day after tomorrow.
What Ma wanted to tell us is that persistence (坚持不懈) is the key to success. Many people give up when they meet difficulties. But those who keep going through tough times are the ones who finally succeed.
Take Ma Yun himself as an example. When he was young, he failed the college entrance examination three times. He was rejected (拒绝) by Harvard University ten times. Many people would have given up. But Ma didn’t. He kept working hard and finally founded Alibaba, one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies.
The same goes for many other successful people. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before inventing the light bulb. He once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
So whenever you feel like giving up, remember the sunshine after tomorrow. Keep going, and you will see it.
