A rainbow is one of the most beautiful wonders of nature. It appears in the sky after rain when the sun comes out. Many people wonder how rainbows form and why they have such bright colors.
Rainbows form when sunlight passes through water droplets in the air. The sunlight is made up of seven different colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. When the sunlight hits the water droplets, it bends and splits into these seven colors. This process is called refraction. The colors appear in a fixed order, with red on the top and violet on the bottom.
You can only see a rainbow when the sun is behind you and the rain is in front of you. Rainbows are usually semicircular, but if you are high up, like on a mountain or in an airplane, you might see a full circle rainbow. Rainbows are not physical objects; they are just light reflections that our eyes can see.
Rainbows have been a symbol of hope and happiness in many cultures. They remind us of the beauty of nature and the magic of the world around us. Even though rainbows don’t last long, they leave a deep impression on everyone who sees them.

You will find many strange animals in the sea. 32 Many sea animals give out light in the dark and some have sharp teeth.
During the day, there is enough light. Here, under the sea, everything is blue and green. When fish swim nearby, you can catch them with your hands. When you have bottles of air on your back, you can stay in deep water for a long time. 33 And you must be very careful when you dive in deep water.
The deep sea is not an easy place to live in. It’s cold, and it’s dark, too. 34 About 3,000 feet, there is no light at all. It is very dark in the sea. Many fishes have no eyes. Some have big eyes. A few have eyes on one side.
35 Animals eat! They must find food to eat. Many animals eat plants. However, some animals eat meat. This means these sea animals have two big jobs.
They need to find animals as food, and they have to try not to become other animals’ meal.

第一节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
Nature provides us with beautiful wonders, from high mountains to clear rivers, from colorful flowers to lovely animals. These wonders make our world more beautiful and livable. However, many of these natural wonders are facing threats from human activities. It is our duty to protect them and keep their beauty forever.
Spend time getting to know nature. Take trips to natural places, observe the plants and animals, and learn about their living habits. The more you understand nature, the more you will cherish it. You can also read books or watch documentaries about nature to learn more about its wonders.
Reduce pollution in daily life. Do not throw rubbish into rivers or on the ground. Use reusable bags instead of plastic bags, and try to save water and electricity. These small actions can help reduce damage to nature and protect its wonders.
Join nature protection activities. Many organizations hold activities to plant trees, clean up scenic areas and protect wild animals. You can join these activities with your family or friends to make a difference. Encourage your relatives and friends to protect nature too.
