Sharing space with elegant cafes and world-class bars, a tiny fruit and vegetable stand seems to have been transported from a country road far away. But what makes the stand even more remarkable in the heart of Camden is that payment is on the honor system — customers just throw coins into an old mailbox — and most of the items on offer are priced at 1 in a neighborhood where fresh food usually goes for much, much more. The greengrocer with a heart of gold — a Chinese immigrant in her 50s who runs this stand alone — is rarely seen by her grateful customers. Lena Wong rises before dawn to prepare to work in her small plot in Enfield, outside London. Depending on the season, she’ll gather onions, eggplant, green peppers, etc. And she works several overnight shifts every week at a nursing home to supplement her and her husband’s modest salaries. All this started one day as she was selling produce in Enfield, and a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. “I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry,” Lena Wong said. The seed was planted. “I want young people to feel that they’re not forgotten, that they are treasured,” she said. “That not everyone is out for himself. I can make money anytime. Right now, I want to give young people a helping hand.”Sometimes, when she arrives late in the day, customers get a chance to thank her in person. In return, she’s fond of offering botanical sayings that she collected from a life that has had its share of both joy and pain. “Even in a field full of weeds,” Lena Wong likes to say, “you can grow something — if you put in the effort.”4. What is special about the stand in the quiet alley A. It is located in an expensive cafe.B. People often take good pictures there.C. It operates on a trust and credit system.D. The goods sold there come from distant places.5. What can we learn about Lena Wong’s job A. It requires her to work long hours. B. It pays well to support her family.C. It attracts widespread media attention. D. It focuses on organic produce.6. Who inspired Lena Wong to help others A. Her grateful customers. B. A hungry youth.C. Her modest husband. D. A local grocer.7. What does Lena’s saying in the last paragraph imply A. Weeds are common in farming.B. Gardening requires great effort.C. Hard work can defeat difficulties.D. Joy and pain are unavoidable in life.CAs the planet warms up and oceans rise, extreme weather events are becoming the norm. Getting notified in time to prepare for a disastrous hurricane or heat wave could be the disparity between life and death. Now AI can help. Two studies published in the journal Nature described the benefit of two AI models that could improve weather forecasting. The first AI-based system, developed by the Huawei Cloud team, is known as Pangu-Weather. It was capable of predicting global weather a week in advance. Before it came out, most countries relied on mathematical weather prediction models, which use math formulas to create computer models of the atmosphere and oceans for predicting future weather. What makes Pangu-Weather different is that the Pangu-Weather model is deeply trained with the help of 39-year global weather data, preparing it to forecast temperature, pressure, and wind speed. When compared to the mathematical weather prediction method, Pangu-Weather was 10,000 times faster and no less accurate. Pangu-Weather also contains a 3D model, unlike past AI forecasting systems, that allows it to record atmospheric states at different pressure levels to further increase its accuracy.Pangu-Weather can predict weather patterns 5 — 7 days in advance. However, it can’t forecast precipitation (降水). As precipitation prediction is vital for extreme weather forecasting, a second Nature model, NowcastNet, fills this gap. It can accurately predict rainfall 6 hours ahead, helping meteorologists (气象学家) study weather patterns in real-time more effectively.NowcastNet focuses on detailed, realistic descriptions of extreme rainfall patterns. It uses radar observations from the US and China, as well as deep learning methods, to predict precipitation rates over a 1.6-million-square-mile region of the eastern and central US up to 3 hours in advance. 62 meteorologists from China tested NowcastNet and ranked it first, out of four other leading weather forecasting methods, in reliably predicting heavy rain, which it did 71 percent of the time. While generative AI models have good prospects in weather forecasting, experts point out that replacing existing systems has many challenges. However, in 5 — 10 years, these models may surprise us.8. What does the underlined word “disparity” in paragraph 1 mean A. Difference. B. Relationship. C. Balance. D. Comparison.9. Which of the following best describes Pangu-Weather A. Data-driven. B. Multi-functional.C. Theory-based. D. Human-operated.10. What is an advantage of NowcastNet A. It reduces radar errors on a large scale.B. It outperforms any other weather model.C. It predicts downpours with high accuracy.D. It covers diverse regions around the globe.11. What is the text mainly about A. The impacts of climate change on extreme weather events.B. The introduction to high-tech weather-forecasting models.C. The challenges in using generative AI in weather forecasting.D. The explanation of new measures to protect the environment.DFrom taking quick shots for social media with a smartphone to patiently waiting for the perfect street moment with a film camera, photography has become part of everyday life. However, there is a common misunderstanding that mobile photography, compared to film photography, reduces creation to a shallow form of photographic note-taking rather than true art. This belief misses a core fact: these two media represent different ways of seeing and creating.Psychology research offers insights into this. Professor Robert Epstein from Harvard University’s Visual Cognition Lab notes, “When we take photos with a phone, our brain is in a ‘rapid capture’ mode; whereas with a film camera, it enters a ‘deliberate composition’ state.” Functional MRI (核磁共振) studies have shown that when using a smartphone, areas of the brain linked to quick decision-making are more active. In contrast, when using a film camera, the networks related to sense of beauty and precise hand control show stronger connectivity.Photography educator David Yorke explains: “With a film camera, you must think through everything before taking the picture — composition, exposure, timing. This forces you to slow down and truly learn to ‘see’.” However, it does not mean that mobile photography cannot produce true art. An experiment in a journal of visual research found that mobile users take an average of 15 times more photos per day than film users. This frequent practice enhances their ability to capture fleeting (转瞬即逝的) moments. Documentary photographer Marina Chen shares this view: “Smartphones have made photography accessible to everyone. Sometimes, the energy in these moments is more valuable than carefully arranged shots.”A truly mature photographer understands that artistic vision requires both: the quick response to the present and the discipline to compose with care. Mobile photography and film photography do not replace each other. Together, they enrich our visual expression and expand our capacity to see the world with clarity and imagination.12. What is a common misunderstanding about mobile photography A. It lacks artistic depth.B. It departs from daily life.C. It misses digital creativity.D. It blocks factual recording.13. What can we learn about film and mobile photography from paragraph 2 A. They need professional insight.B. They depend on instant capture.C. They involve distinct mental processes.D. They reflect different controlling behaviors.14. What ability does film photography develop according to David Yorke A. Visual sensitivity. B. Mindful observation.C. Decisive response. D. Emotional engagement.15. What is the best title for the text A. The Brain Science Behind PhotographyB. Beyond the Shallow, Reclaiming the ArtC. A Scientific Guide to Better PhotographyD. You hear the sound of opening a blind box, see that cheeky smile and suddenly you’re attracted. But once the excitement fades, you can’t help but wonder, why do we keep chasing more, even when we already have enough Evolutionary psychology gives us a fascinating answer. A lot of what we do comes from what once helped our ancestors survive. ___16___ That could mean the difference between thriving (繁荣) and going without. Over generations, we’ve been wired to find joy in having more than we require.Labubu represents a modern form of this instinct (本能). The blind-box model mirrors ancestral uncertainty: investing effort toward an uncertain payoff with the possibility of a rare, high-status “secret” find. The uncertainty of the reward activates dopamine pathways in the brain. ___17___ This explains why collectors sometimes keep buying long after they’ve achieved their goal.___18___ When collecting remains a source of joy and social connection, it can be adaptive. Many Labubu collectors share mini furniture, and fan-made content. ___19___ But when over-marketing and rocketing resale prices step in, the whole environment changes. Suddenly, it’s less about the joy of owning something you love and more about showing off or reselling it for a profit. In questioning whether hoarding is simply collecting gone mad, it becomes clear that human psychology hasn’t fundamentally changed. Social media, over-marketing, and resale culture supercharge ancient drives. The challenge is to keep those drives in balance. ___20___ Ask yourself: Does it truly spark joy or creativity In the end, Labubu is more than a toy. It’s a little mirror, reflecting both our ancient instincts and modern anxieties, and showing just how easily a fun hobby can tip into full-blown craze.A. Collect what brings genuine pleasure.B. But how does collecting slip into disorder C. Buyers don’t know which figure they will get.D. Back then, collecting was about saving tools or food for later use.E. Collecting becomes a problem when possessions damage our daily life.F. It makes us “want” the experience even when we already “have” enough.G. Such are forms of self-expression that enrich rather than mess up our life.第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。In every family, there eventually comes a time when the tables turn and the child becomes the one calling the shots. The concept was great, but none of us had any idea what to do.“Maybe we could have a food drive to help the homeless,” John suggested at our Sunday night meeting. “But we have done that many times,” answered Brian with a frown (皱眉). Ten minutes passed with not a single proposal (提议) good enough to win our hearts. Finally, I decided to speak. “Why don’t we think about our project for a few days and then come back with three or four suggestions we can vote on ” Everyone agreed to wait a week before we made a decision.I knew time was running out to get something going before the New Year, but I still had no idea what we should do. During the following week, one idea after another ran through my mind, but I was still indecisive (犹豫不决的).Thursday after school, I wandered into the kitchen as my dad prepared for dinner.Sensing my uneasiness, he asked what troubled me without even looking up.“Well...it...” I let out a long breath. “Our youth group wants to do something for the New Year, but we don’t know what to do...”“Hmm.” My dad thought out loud. “There’s a seniors’ home I’ve worked with close to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The residents don’t get out much around the New Year with the snow and ice. It might be an idea to take them out to see the New Year lights around here.”I stood still for a few moments thinking of all the spectacular New Year light display (绚丽的新年灯光秀) in our neighborhood. To be honest, I never thought about that, but it might just work.注意:续写词数应为150左右。Next Sunday evening, our youth group met.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________On New Year’s Day, the bus we rented arrived at the seniors’ home in the snow.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】1. The reasons are as follows. To start with, most of the latest resources on scientific research are in English. Hence, a good command of the language will greatly facilitate scientific study, especially for those who plan to major in science in college. And the inquiry-based and hands-on nature of science study, in turn, will surely make English learning more engaging.Hope my humble ideas will be of some help for your work. Looking forward to the brand new experience.Yours,Li Hua【答案】例文Next Sunday evening, our youth group met. My fellows put forward several suggestions and I also contributed Dad’s idea for discussion. Much to my surprise, the New Year light tour won their hearts. We called the seniors’ home and they were thrilled about our proposal. The following weeks, we were busy preparing everything for the tour, including the bus to drive the seniors along the planned route. On New Year’s Day, the bus we rented arrived at the seniors’ home in the snow. Despite the cold, the snow added a magical white blanket to the neighborhood. All seniors slowly found seats on the bus and the tour began. The spectacular light display lit up their faces and I even saw some eyes filling up. Returning home, the seniors couldn’t stop talking about all they’d seen and thanked us. We were thrilled to have made their lives a little brighter during this special time of the year. Looking at their excited and grateful faces, we’d never felt warmer. 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 2025-2026学年山东省实验中学下学期期中高二英语.docx 2025-2026学年山东省实验中学下学期期中高二英语答案.docx
