Last week, I was going home on a crowded bus during the rush hour. The bus was full of cold, tired people who were angry with each other. Two men shouted at each other because of a small push. An old woman got on, but nobody gave her a seat. Anger was in the air; no kindness could be found here.
As the bus got to Seventh Avenue, the driver spoke through the speaker. “Friends,” he said. “I know you’ve had a hard day and you all feel unhappy. But I think I can help. When each of you walks by before getting off, please put your troubles into my hand. Our bus goes by the Hudson River, and I will throw them into the river for you.”
At once, everything changed. Everyone started laughing, with happiness on their faces. People who did not care about each other before were suddenly smiling at each other — is this guy serious
At the next stop, just as he said, the driver held out his hand and waited. All the leaving passengers excitedly made the gesture (姿势) of putting something into his hand. The driver repeated the same action at every stop that followed.

In fact, they are so good at their job that they’ve got the name HeroRATs. Besides, they look very cute in their work uniforms, with tiny vests (背心) and backpacks

③ In the study, 11 rats are trained to look for these wildlife products in big shipping boxes. To achieve this, the rats learn the smell of animal parts in a lab. They also learn to tell humans by holding their noses near the thing for a few seconds. Then they wear small vests in a test port (港口), where scientists train them to pull a small button (按钮) quickly when they find something wrong. When they do well, they get nice food as a prize.
④ “Rats have low training and management costs, a long life, and an excellent sense of smell,” researchers explain. “Their small size is also an advantage for the checking of shipping boxes.”
