The story is about Frodo, his friends, and their adventurous journey through Middle-earth.Filmed in about 150 locations all over New Zealand, this travel movie shows its beauty. From the rolling hills of Matamata to the volcanic region of Mount Ruapehu, this is the best movie to see New Zealand. Also, this travel movie might have the only distinction of being inspired by travel. The director of the movie first read the novel on a train going from Wellington to Auckland when he was just seventeen.

Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile
This movie series focuses on a romantic writer Joan and her adventures with a soldier of fortune named Jack.In Romancing the Stone Joan goes to Colombia to save her sister who is kidnapped. In the sequel (续集) Joan goes to the fictional kingdom of Kadir in the Middle East.Romancing the Stone’s scenes were shot mostly in Mexico. For The Jewel of the Nile, the scenes were mostly shot in Morocco.
The Talented Mr Ripley
Tom Ripley is a young man of the working class.Through a case of mistaken identity,he is asked to go to Italy to convince a wealthy businessman’s son to come home. This travel movie starts in New York and heads to the fictional resort of Monticello. The last section of the movie was filmed mostly in Rome and Naples. The locations are beautiful. They also do a good job of showing Italy as it looked in the 1960s.

Fulton’s dog named Lucy got to pick out her own toy at the store, and Fulton says Lucy has been known to pick very large stuffed animals. In the video,Lucy picked up a toy about twice her size and carried it out of the store with unbelievable determination.
She carried that toy right out of the door of the pet store while Fulton filmed every moment. When Fulton posted the video on her social media account, she wasn’t expecting to receive such a strong response (反应).
Since Fulton posted her video,it has been viewed over 21 million times and caused more than 49,000 comments.Fulton wrote on her social media account,“This is not the first shopping trip for Lucy.We don’t do this on a regular basis but occasionally! She continued,“We want to thank everyone that has viewed, liked, shared and commented about the video I posted about our Lucy during her shopping trip for a new toy! This happened while we were on vacation in Daytona Beach,Florida. Our kids told us that the video had got around rapidly. It is amazing.”
Fulton was truly shocked at how much attention Lucy’s video received since she is used to posting pictures and videos of Lucy on her social media account all the time.
“It’s amazing to see that a video of a precious little dog can bring so many smiles and laughter for people,” says Fulton, who is retired from the Henderson County Schools in Kentucky.“I am receiving so many nice comments from people all over the world.”

It’s a classroom.Instead of being told to sit quietly and listen, you are encouraged to stand up,jump around, imagine and act out. It’s a class full of laughter and applause (鼓掌),emotion and energy.Welcome to drama class, one of my favourite classes at high school.
In drama class we used to play a lot of “drama games”.We would improvise (即兴创作),copy and above all use our imagination.
My favourite game was called“Spotto”.One person stood in the front of the classroom and performed a scene, completely out of others’ imagination. When one audience member yelled “Spotto!”,the performer had to freeze. Then the person who had yelled “Spotto” had to get up and improvise a new plot (情节) based on the position the first performer froze in.This went on as more and more people were added to the scene.Eventually the entire class would have joined the scene. Then the performers would start to leave in reverse (相反的) order.
It was a lot of fun,and a good test of everyone’s imagination to see what they would come up with.Drama class at my school often involved a big performance at the end of the term as well.We would work on a production throughout the term and put on a show for our parents and the school community.
It was a great experience to perform on stage in front of a large audience.Drama class can help shy children, like me,to come out of their shells. It helps them become more confident and develop their public speaking skills.Drama class is also a great place to express oneself, and a way for children to use up some of their energy.

“I feel lonely,” said Lisa,a bright teenager from a loving home.“It seems that nobody wants to become my friend. What’s wrong with me ”
Like Lisa, many of us experience loneliness. The truth is that all people,no matter what their age or character—even the most outgoing, wealthy and popular—experience loneliness at least sometimes. It’s healthy and natural to want to be around people who care. After all,we’ve all heard “No man is an island.” That’s true.We all need others in our lives.
A wise man explains that if we want friends,we must be friendly and reach out to others. But it has risk.Because we are often afraid of rejection, many of us are unwilling to reach out to others. We take a safer way and wait for others to make friends with us.But if we want friends,we’ve got to get beyond this.
If making friends is your goal as well, you need to consider taking some measures.
Be willing to take the initiative (主动性).If you see someone whom you would like to know, don’t wait for him/her to make the first move.Get close to him/her and begin a conversation.Let him/her know in a non-aggressive (无攻击性的) way that you are interested in being friends with him/her.
Reach out to those who are lonely. When you see someone at school sitting alone,go over and talk to him/her.And don’t let popularity decide whom you reach out to.You’ll often be surprised at the beautiful qualities behind a shy appearance.Ask questions.Start your first conversation by asking this possible friend what he/she likes to do or asking about his/her family.Be sure to ask questions that cannot be replied with “yes” or “no”.For example, don’t ask “Do you have a dog ” Instead, say “So,tell me about your pets.” Avoiding asking “yes” or “no” questions makes your possible friend not end your communication with a one-word answer.

( )35.Why does the author suggest not asking “yes” or “no” questions

Will Traditional TV Ever Be Replaced by Streaming
For a long time, people had to listen to the radio to get news, drama, and music at home. This all changed with the development of the television in the early 20th century.36. Since then,British TV viewers have enjoyed the launch of commercial TV,the addition of Channel 4,and then Channel 5,and finally the birth of paid services through satellite and cable.
A Slow Decline
While the uptake of TV ownership exploded, the decline of television’s dominance has been slow and has been going on for the past decade.37. Streaming services have given us access to more content than was ever possible, including back catalogues of classic shows and blockbuster movies.
Changing Viewing Habits
In the UK,adults are spending more time watching content online and on streaming services than ever before. In 2018,these figures were 30 minutes and 26 minutes per day respectively.38.
Still the King
39. For example,in 2018,UK adults continued to watch traditional TV channels for an average of 41 minutes per day, more than any streaming service.
Average viewing time for all traditional TV channels continues to decline though, despite much larger quantities of original content being produced by these organisations.40.
While the traditional TV networks have seen a decline, the television set itself doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere any time soon.
A.This has been the trend for the last couple of decades.
B.The original content has included massively popular shows.
C.Suddenly,we were able to see what was going on,not just listen along.
D.The traditional TV channels are taking away audiences from streaming services.
E.Most major TV channels offer their own catch-up streaming services.
F.While demand for streaming services is up,TV continues to be the most watched overall.
G.Today,we have the power to watch whatever, whenever, wherever we want.

My mother’s heartbeat gave me a small degree of comfort as I cried on her chest that night. It all happened in the eighth grade. In fact,it all happened the day I was born.Saumya is a name that is quite often given to girls. It is a name that symbolises peace and happiness. The day I was born,my parents decided to name me Saumya. The only catch was that I was a boy.
The beginning of high school isn’t easy for anyone, but for me it was particularly hard.I sat during the lunch break absorbed in my books, trying not to attract a lot of attention to myself.I glanced at my wristwatch—there were only 5 minutes until lunch was over, after which I could go back to being unnoticed,I thought.Just then,in a loud and rather harsh voice,a student yelled my name straight across the canteen. At that moment, all my senses numbed (麻木).Then another voice arose, joined by another. Before I knew it,the entire canteen was full of my name with girlish overtones, adding additional a’s after my name (“Saumyaaa”).I dashed to the toilet, tears welling up at the edge of my eyelids.Hot tears wanted to run down my cheek, but I held them back, wanting to keep a brave front.I locked myself up in the toilet and fastened my red tie on my eyes.“Why did I have to be named Saumya ”,“What had I done to have been targeted ” and a lot of other thoughts flooded into my mind.
Freshman year began, but my insecurity remained.I could not forget the memories of my tears. There was a time when leaving school seemed like the best alternative for me.I could never have imagined that I would have to go through so much for a “name” that wasn’t even in my control.
But my grandmother quietly approached me one day.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
Paragraph 1:
“Your name is unique and special, just the way you are,” my grandmother told me.

【语篇导读】 本文是说明文。文章主要介绍了孤独及交友的问题,同时还提到了一些交友的措施,如主动接近感兴趣的人,关心孤独的人,以及避免问“是”或“否”的问题。
( )32.Why does the author begin the text with Lisa’s worry
[A] To introduce the topic.
[B] To share Lisa’s pain.
[C] To teach readers a lesson.
[D] To set a sad tone.
【答案】 A
【解析】 推理判断题。根据第一段中的“‘I feel lonely,’said Lisa, a bright teenager from a loving home.”以及第二段中的“Like Lisa, many of...to be around people who care.”可推知,文章开篇提及丽莎的例子是为了引出文章的话题,即每个人都经历过孤独,无论年龄或者性格。故选A。
( )33.What can be a risk caused by reaching out to others according to the passage
[A] Putting ourselves in danger.
[B] Being treated in a rude way.
[C] Being refused by others.
[D] Losing interest in communicating.
【答案】 C
【解析】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“A wise man explains that...unwilling to reach out to others.”可知,主动接触他人,与他人结交的过程中是有风险的,该风险就是会被他人拒绝。故选C。
( )34.What can we know from Paragraph 5
[A] Popular people are often easy-going.
[B] Just waiting for chances will help you make friends.
[C] Shy people are hard to talk to.
[D] A suitable way is important in making friends.
( )35.Why does the author suggest not asking “yes” or “no” questions
[A] Because it is considered unfriendly.
[B] Because it isn’t good for keeping a conversation going.
[C] Because it will leave a bad first impression.
[D] Because it shows the poor quality of the speaker.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面的材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段话,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Paragraph 2:
From that day forth,I did not let my name define me.

Theme Everyone is special and unique.
预设问题定走向 Para.1 “Your name is unique and special, just the way you are,” my grandmother told me. Q1:How did the author think of his grandmother’s words Q2:What did the author decide to do Q3:What did the author realise
Para.2 From that day forth, I did not let my name define me. Q1:How did the author respond to what his grandmother had said Q2:What was the author thankful for Q3:What is the inspiration of the name to the author
  One possible version:
“Your name is unique and special, just the way you are,” my grandmother told me. I began to look at it through a different light. This was the first time I began to understand an idea that had given me comfort and,in a way, liberated me. The way others laughed at memay be completely inaccurate, and therefore I didn’t need to let the opinions of others weigh me down.I realised that my happiness lies in my own hands.
From that day forth,I did not let my name define me.I began to open up. I made friends that I know will last a lifetime.I started to hold doors open for my classmates while we all went out of the school library. And I began to greet the security of my school every morning, hoping to brighten their day. However, I am thankful for the lessons I learnt; the pain I felt was a necessary step in the process of becoming the person I am today—someone who is unafraid to express himself. Today, I am proud of my name, and I always will be. I finally did find peace and happiness. I found it, in my very own name—Saumya.
点津:中的the first time I began to understand an idea为表语从句; that had given me comfort and, in a way, liberated me为定语从句;
others laughed at me为定语从句;
中的hoping to...为现在分词短语作伴随状语;
为主题升华句。
