There was once a large bottle of fresh, clean water. Every drop of water in the bottle enjoyed the peaceful life inside deeply and they felt 11 of being so clear and pure (纯净的).
Day after day, they would be happy with each other on being clean and beautiful, sharing small happiness and enjoying the warm life together. They all thought they would never 12 this lovely and peaceful life, and would always stay pure.
But one day, one of the drops got bored with this simple but happy life. He thought it was too boring to stay in the bottle all the time, so he wanted to 13 the bottle and explore the colorful outside world, even if he might get dirty. Other drops tried to stop him and warned him of the bad results, but he would not listen and left without 14 .
When the naughty drop came back finally, he was covered in dirt. It soon made all the other drops in the bottle dirty too. The once clear water turned 15 and smelly at once. They tried quite a few ways to become clean again, but 16 worked at all.
Months later, someone put the bottle into a public fountain (喷泉). Lots of clean fresh water ran into the bottle and washed the dirt away little by little. After a long time, the 17 finally got back their clearness and purity.
Now the drops understand a valuable lesson. If they want to stay clean, every single drop must keep 18 clean. This bottle of water is just like our Earth. If we hope to live on a healthy planet, each of us should be a “clean drop” and protect our home. The same rule 19 for our class. We should learn to care for our classmates and support each other. We should 20 act selfishly or do things that will hurt our group. Every small good choice will make a big difference to our class and the world.

Foxes with nine tails, animals with human faces and fish bodies, turtles with bird heads and snake tails, these magical animals are from Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas). This old book played an important role in the world and inspired (给予灵感) today’s works. Let’s learn more about it!
Shan Hai Jing took shape before the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). Like an encyclopedia (百科全书), it writes about the world in the eyes of people at that time. The 30,000-word book records about 40 states, 550 mountains, 300 rivers, more than 100 people in history and 400 interesting animals.

Shan Hai Jing has inspired many works. Liu Siliang is a teacher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He said the book inspired the writing of Journey to the West and Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio《聊斋志异》. Pop culture works also borrow ideas from the book. Some of the animals in the book even go into movies, such as Zouwu, the star monster in Shan Hai Jing. It has a tiger-body with stripes of five colors. Its tail is longer than its body. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is written by Mark Twain and is seen as one of the great works of American fiction. The 13-year-old Huck tells us about how he gets out of the control of his father who always drinks a lot, his friendship with Jim and their adventures (冒险) on the Mississippi as they journey south. The Nobel Prize-winning writer Hemingway even said that “all modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huck Finn... There was nothing before. There has been nothing as good since.”

Maikafer, flieg! is a novel written in German. The storyteller in this book is a 9-year old girl Christine who lives in Vienna (维也纳) at the end of World War Ⅱ. The world in a kid’s eyes is sometimes kind of different from that in adults’ eyes. You may know more details about people’s daily life at that time by going on a journey with Christine and listening to the voice deep in her heart. “Sometimes it makes you laugh, but sometimes it makes you become silent,” said one reader.
Alice in Wonderland is an English novel by Lewis Carroll, a math teacher at Oxford University. It details the story of a young girl who falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world. The characters, structure, the crazy imagination, and the way the writer tells the story all make big differences to popular culture and literature. Unlike other literature works for children at that time, the book doesn’t want to teach or educate kids. It shows that kids can read literature just for fun.
Oliver Twist is the second novel of the English writer Charles Dickens and one of his most popular works. The story is mainly about a boy with no parents who runs away from the workhouse (济贫院) to London and his life in the capital city. Oliver’s mother arrived at the workhouse the night before she gave birth to her son. She asked to see her baby and then died. No one knew where she came from or who she was. But the doctor noticed that she had no wedding ring on her finger.
When the doctor left and the old nurse dressed him, Oliver cried loudly. He was an orphan (孤儿) and he was all alone. There was no one to look after baby Oliver at the workhouse, so he was sent to an orphanage. Life was harder there, with less food or love.
By the age of nine, Oliver was a small, pale, thin child, but he had a strong spirit. The housekeeper of the orphanage was cruel and harsh (残酷的). She often beat Oliver and locked him up, usually for saying he was hungry. Besides, Oliver was too old to stay at the orphanage. So, he was sent back to the workhouse.
Then he worked long hours every day and had very little to eat there. One day, when the workhouse master gave them porridge, Oliver was so hungry that he gathered his courage and said quietly but firmly, “Please, sir, I want some more.” Though he was afraid of the master’s anger, his strong spirit never gave in, and he hoped for a little more food to keep him alive.

The tiger was gone, 45 Laozi gently put the goat there and left quietly. The goat didn’t realize the danger and went to sleep.
The tiger returned. He watched the sleeping goat 46 a while. Then, he began to pet the little goat, just like a mother cat washing her babies. The goat woke up, and the two 47 (animal) began to play together, chatting, jumping and getting 48 (happy) than before.
49 (final), they lay down together to sleep.
The next day, a woman carrying her baby rushed into the village from the fields. “A huge snake tried to hurt my baby!” she said. “But a strange animal drove it away. It was half man and half tiger!”

fight for为……而战、show off炫耀、agree with同意,均不符合逻辑。
根据上文“stay in the bottle all the time”和后文“explore the colorful outside world”可知,这滴水想要离开瓶子。take care of照顾、make fun of取笑、get hold of抓住,均不符。 get out of意为“从……
根据前文“it was covered in dirt”和“made all the other drops... dirty too”可知,水变脏了,不再清澈。
works意为“起作用/适用”,The rule works for...
根据前文“We should learn to care for our classmates”可知,此处强调不应该做坏事。

29.第二段指出《Maikafer, flieg!》通过9岁女孩Christine的视角展现世界,并提到“listening to the voice deep in her heart”,说明该书展现了Christine对二战期间亲身经历的看法。

故填came。
agree to do sth.
for a while表示“一段时间”,为固定搭配。
51. Have read
故填Have;read。
52. he would
故填he;would。
53. What to do
故填What;to;do。
54. has already
故填has;already。
55. such that
故填such;that。

Dear Jake,
Summer vacation is the best time for us to read books. I have read and kept many books from childhood. Among them, my favourite book is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. It is written by Mark Twain.
The book is about a smart boy, Tom Sawyer, and his unusual childhood. Tom lives in a small town on the Mississippi River in America. He takes some unbelievable adventures with his friends.
I learned a lot from Tom Sawyer. His story encourages me to try hard to achieve my dream and never give up. I will keep the book forever.
