Why it’s important: It protects millions of people from North Sea floods and created new farmland.
Dujiangyan Irrigation System
Location: Chengdu, China
How it works: Built over 2,000 years ago, it uses natural water flow to control floods and irrigate farmland without dams.
Why it’s important: It’s still working today, protecting the city and keeping the farmland safe.
