Unfortunately, nobody has taken care of the plants, and therefore, much of it is in a bad state.

My favourite character is Mary Lennox because she changes a lot in the story. At first, she's grumpy and lonely, but the secret garden makes her kind and lively. She learns to care for others and shows that anyone can become better with patience and friends.
The book is called The Secret Garden because it's about a hidden garden that no one knows about. The secret garden also stands for one's shielded heart with hidden feelings like sadness and loneliness. You need to unlock a person's heart so that he / she can heal and grow, just like how nature and friendship help Colin recover and step out of his secret world.
