China's Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi highly praised Edgar Snow (1905-1972), a reporter from America during the National People's Congress in Beijing. He said Snow was always truthful and objective (客观的).
Snow came to China in 1928. He spent over 10 years in China trying to understand its people and showing what he learned to the rest of the world. He is best known for his books and articles on Communism(共产主义) in China and the Chinese Communist Revolution(革命). For example, Red Star over China is famous as the first book to introduce China's revolution to the west. In it, Snow collected first hand information on the Long March, as well as on the work and life of members of the Communist Party of China.
Many westerners were introduced to the Party through his book. Norman Bethune, a Canadian doctor, came to China after reading Snow's book.He worked hard to save the lives of Chinese soldiers during World War II.
