President Xijinping’s words deeply encourage me.
In my study, I used to be weak in English. But instead of giving up, I followed the spirit of never giving up: I read
English articles every morning, practiced speaking with my classmates after class, and asked the teacher for help when I
met difficulties. Little by little, my English has improved a lot.
As a Junior Three student, I know the road to success is not always easy, but I can make it by working hard. I will keep

A Funny Mistake in the Supermarket
Last Saturday morning, 14-year-old Tom went to the supermarket near his home alone. His mom asked him to buy a
bag of rice, a carton of milk and some eggs. Tom wrote the list on a piece of paper and he left happily with his wallet.
The supermarket was busy. Tom got milk and eggs easily, but he couldn’t find the rice at first. After walking around
twice, he finally saw the rice shelf. He picked a big bag of rice, put it in the shopping cart, and went to the checkout counter.
When the cashier told him the total price, Tom took out his wallet—oh no! He left his list at home, and he also forgot to
bring enough money. The rice was much more expensive than he thought, and he only had money for milk and eggs.
Tom felt embarrassed and didn’t know what to do. Just then, he saw his neighbor, Mrs. Smith, behind him. She
smiled and said, “Tom, did you forget your money ” Tom nodded shyly. Mrs. Smith helped him pay for the rice, and Tom
thanked her a lot. He promised to give the money back to her that afternoon.
On his way home, Tom carried the heavy rice and thought, “I must be more careful next time.” When he got home
and told his mom about the mistake, his mom laughed loudly and said, “Silly boy! You always do careless things.” Tom felt
a little silly, too, but he was glad that Mrs. Smith helped him. From that day on, Tom always checked his wallet and listed
