We decided to test Coca Cola's own Diet Coke against two of the biggest supermarkets' alternatives, to see if we could be getting more for our money and if the big brand could be beaten on taste
We decided to put Two supermarket diet colas to the test, to see if Lidl and Aldi could out-do one of the biggest and most influential brands in the world, and the results were pretty surprising.
We got off to a good start with Lidl
Lidl Freeway Diet Cola 7/10
★★★★★★★
That being said, as far as Diet Coke imitations go, this was actually a really positive start for Lidl. Although you can obviously tell it isn't the real deal, the Freeway Diet Cola isn't too far off and still makes for quite a pleasant drink.
It almost tastes like an ever so slightly watered-down version of Diet Coke, which, at 39p for a 2-litre bottle, you can't really complain, making it a worthy alternative when trying to keep costs down.
Aldi Vive Diet Cola 8/10
★★★★★★★★
As previously mentioned with Lidl, I am a huge fan of Aldi,
This is what surprised me the most. If I was to shut my eyes and try Aldi's Vive Diet Cola, I'm not entirely convinced I would be able to taste the difference, which is pretty big considering it only costs 47p for 2 liters.
The only real difference is that Aldi's cola doesn't feel quite as fizzy as Diet Coke, but in terms of sweetness and flavor, it's pretty much spot on.
Will I stop spending all my hard-earned pennies on Coca Cola when I could spend less than half for a decent alternative Probably not, but it's certainly good to know what other options are out there when cash is tight.
21.Why does the writer write this article
A. To find alternatives to Coca Cola's own Diet Coke.
B. To save money efficiently.
C. To compare different bands of Coca Cola.
D. To save money and beat the big brand.
22.If I want to save money I should buy
A. Lidl Freeway Diet Cola
B. Aldi Vive Diet Cola
C. Coca Cola's own Diet Coke.
Product of the big brand
23.The author’s attitude towards the two alternatives to Coca Cola's own Diet Coke is
Negative B. Ridiculous C. Romantic D. Positive
B
Baby name preferences are very personal and unsurprisingly, it's something that many couples end up arguing about. One mum has asked other parents for advice after revealing that her husband is set on a rather unusual middle name for their daughter.
The anonymous woman admitted that while she "doesn't hate" the name, she's worried that her little girl will be judged by teachers when she goes to school.
"My husband wants to give our daughter the middle name Tuesday (won't go into the reasons why)," she wrote on her post on Mumsnet. "I actually don't hate it but don't love it either but I know it would make him very happy and his parents.” "I just think will people think we're mental using Tuesday as a middle name Like teachers etc I feel it's very alternative."
The mum added that their daughter's full name would be Jessica Tuesday Jenkins.
Despite the mum's reservations, many people in the comments loved the name and encouraged her to go with it. One said: "I LOVE it. I always said if I had a girl I'd love to call her Tuesday - as a first name.” "I love it," another added. "If it means a lot to him I can't see why you wouldn't.” "Very few people use their middle names. I know several of my friends have them but I can only remember one."
A third shared an experience of her own, saying: "My daughter has an unusual middle name. Grandparents gave us a hard time over it, worrying that they would be teased. "She loves it and no one has ever teased her. More that it's strange and a source of interest. Go for it. Tuesday is a lovely name."
A few others wondered whether there was a connection to Tuesday, as one person asked if their daughter was meant to be due on that day. But the original poster replied that she is not.
However, not everyone was so keen on the name, as one person said: "I don' t really understand why you would want to name a child after a day of the week!" said one person.

An earthquake is most commonly known as the shaking of the Earth’s surface. It is normally caused when two blocks of Earth suddenly slip past one another. This then causes a sudden release of energy that could either feel like small or violent shaking. Earthquakes are one of nature’s most destructive forces. They have the power to demolish cities in a matter of seconds. Scientists measure earthquakes according to the Richter Magnitude Scale.
The scale ranges from one to nine. The one magnitude is the weakest measurement and normally can’t be felt. The nine magnitude is the highest rating which is believed to cause the most damage.

A loophole allowing drivers to escape punishment for hand-held phone use if they are taking a photo or playing a game will be closed from Friday.
New rules ban virtually all hand-held use of mobile phones on Britain's roads, in what Transport Secretary Grant Shapps described as a "zero-tolerance approach”. New law means making phone calls and texting are not the only functions banned when behind the wheel. Taking photos or videos, scrolling (滚屏)through playlists and playing games will also be prohibited.
Anyone caught using their hand-held device while driving could face a fine of up to 1,000 as well as six points on their licence. Department for Transport figures show 17 people were killed and a further 114 were seriously injured in crashes on Britain's roads in which a driver using a mobile was a contributory factor.
Drivers will still be allowed to use their phones to make contactless payments, such as at drive-thru restaurants, as long as their vehicle is not moving. Mr. Shapps said: "I will do everything in my power to keep road users safe, which is why I am taking a zero-tolerance approach to those who decide to risk lives by using their phone behind the wheel. "I'm ensuring anyone who chooses to break this vital law can face punishment for doing so, and we'll continue our efforts to ensure our roads remain among the safest in the world."
RAC spokesperson Rod Dennis: "The dial really needs to be turned up when it comes to enforcement, and that means police forces having the resources and technology they need to more easily catch those drivers that continue to pay no respect to the law.

To have an intelligent relationship with food is to regard food as a source of nutrition and energy. 36 .
People who maintain a dysfunctional relationship with food do not eat according to their body needs or in response to body signals. Instead, they turn to food to comfort troubling emotions- especially foods high in fat, sugar, and starch. 37
with childhood obesity more prevalent than at any time in history, parents might consider the messages they give their children about food. Here are three things they would do well to teach, by word, deed, and example:
Food is for nutrition and energy. Some foods are more nutritious than others.
Parents who teach this will make sure they provide enough supply of nutritious foods for snacks and meals, exposing their children's fondness to the tastes of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and a little bit more sources of protein when their children are young. 38
Eat when you feel hungry. Stop eating when you feel full.
Parents who teach this will give their children child-sized portions and avoid battles over food. 39
40
It takes more time and effort to talk things over with an unhappy child than to appease him or her with a treat or a toy. Finally, if you have a tendency to overeat, because you eat according to external cues in your immediate environment, or to comfort difficult emotions, or to reward yourself, or because you don't know when to stop eating, then perhaps it's time to examine your own beliefs about food and its meanings.
A. They regard food as a reward for an accomplishment or for getting through a difficulty.
B. If you feel stressed, let's talk it over, consider some options, and find a possible solution.
C. Sugary and starchy foods (淀粉类食品) should be a rare, special-occasion treat; not a daily principal.
D. If Suzy doesn't eat, she can leave the table. If she is hungry later, offer a nutritious snack.
E. Thus keep a balance on diet can be vital.
F. Therefore, hunger or a letdown in energy or concentration are signals to eat.
G. Foods high in fat, sugar, and starch can cause childhood obesity.

When I was a young boy every Summer Mom, Dad, my brothers and I would climb into our beat-up old car and drive 7 hours over curvy, mountain roads to visit my Mom’s relatives in Tennessee. We always stayed in my grandma’s house there with her, my Uncle Rich and Aunt Charlotte. It was a fun time with days full of excitement and joy. Often Aunt Charlotte would even make us a Thanksgiving dinner in the Summertime with delicious turkey, gravy, potatoes, and stuffing. Some of my happiest childhood memories came from those visits.
One in particular holds a special place in my heart. I had just climbed into bed in the guest bedroom on the second story of the house. I’d had so much fun that day but was still wide awake. As I lay there, I heard the most delightful sound coming from the front porch below me. It was laughter. Mom, Dad, Uncle Rich, and Aunt Charlotte were down there sharing stories and telling jokes. The laughter was so happy, so joyous, that I found myself smiling. And even then in my young mind and innocent heart I realized that this is how life should be. The laughter became a sweet lullaby that sang to me and I fell asleep feeling all was right with the world.
I look back on that memory anytime this life seems to be getting too stressful or crazy and I embrace the lessons that my Uncle Rich and Aunt Charlotte taught me. They always lived their lives with love and joy and laughter and smiles. And they blessed everyone they touched because of it. My Uncle Rich passed away many years ago but my Aunt Charlotte is still alive in her 90's. I write to her each week and am so grateful to still have her in my life.

In your last letter I hear from you that you want to get to know Chinese festival. Among all these the Dragon Boat Festival is my favourite.
it is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in Chinese lunar calender every year in memory of QuYuan, a great politician and poet of Chu during the Warring States period, who jumped into MiLuo river after Chu was defeated and killed himself. People from Chu threw raw food especially steamed glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves named ZongZi in China into the river to feed the fish avoiding QuYuan’s body being digested by them.
Every year we eat cake and ZongZi and holds dragon boat race on this day to embrace QuYuan’s deep love for his mother land.

One possible version:
Our lives here are what we make them. And God wants us to fill them with laughter and smiles and love and joy. Because when we do we not only give ourselves happiness but also make this world a better and more beautiful place. May we always do so.
When I was down in my life, the bright memories of the past always encourage me. I always lived my life with love and joy and laughter and smiles. And I blessed everyone I touched. Even in some deep darkness where it seems every thing goes to the opposite; I still hold the true beliefs in my heart. The shared happiness in the past with my parents and my relatives made me feel the world was still safe and full of love. At least, I believe someone before has made the world a lovely one. I have witnessed the lovable world and I can certainly one day overcome my difficulties and make it a better one.
