Virtues are very important in our daily life. They make our life better and the world
warmer.I still remember an experience when I practiced virtue in my daily life. One morning,I
saw an old grandpa fall down on the way to school. I immediately ran to help him stand up
and accompanied him until his family came.Though I was late for class, I felt happy.
Virtues lie in small daily acts. It's not about grand things but the kind choices we make.
Every small act of kindness can warm others.
Let's pass on and practice virtues in daily life. A small kind act from each of us will
make the world a more beautiful place.

一、阅读理解(共 7 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 17.5 分)
A
A day in the life of 18-year-old David Lanster is full of teenage activities: school,
baseball practice, homework. And then he starts cooking. “Some nights I’m up until 1 a.m.
making pies, or even later if we’re cooking beef,” said the student at Ransom Everglades High
School in Florida, US.
For the past year, Lanster and Kelly Moran, his classmate, have been hosting fancy
dinner parties at Lanster’s parents’ home. Their meals have 17 courses and are all made by
them. Their guests used to give them gifts to thank them, until the pair decided to do
something nice for charity. “We got some really great Miami Heat tickets, a nice watch, and
many kitchen machines,” Lanster said. “But we wanted to make this something positive for
people rather than us.”
Lanster and Moran focused on Common Threads, a charity(慈善机构) that helps to teach
kids in poor neighborhood to cook and make healthy eating choices. The young cooks ask
their guests to give however much they want as payment for their meals. It all goes to
Common Threads because Lanster’s parents cover their food costs. After their last 12-person
event, Lanster and Moran gave $1,600 to the charity. Now, they’re taking their show out of
the kitchen and on the road. Lanster and Moran have started to organize private dinner parties
in a similar way: the host pays for the ingredients(食材), and the guests make a donation (捐
赠) to a charity.
Outside the kitchen, the two are busy preparing their college applications. Neither is sure
what they will do in the future, but they’ve promised their parents that they’ll leave cooking
alone until they finish high school.

In the digital age, teenagers grow up with the internet and digital products. They can get
all kinds of information online in a short time, but they also face various moral challenges that
their parents never met.At this critical stage of moral development, effective moral education
is more important than ever for teenagers to form correct values.
Recent national surveys show that many teenagers face moral dilemmas in the online
world. Some are tempted to spread rumors or participate in cyberbullying for fun;some cheat
in online exams or copy others’ homework online;others even buy and sell fake products on
social media.Without proper guidance, these immoral behaviors will not only harm others, but
also affect teenagers’own growth and future development.
Schools are the main place for teenage moral education, and they have an irreplaceable
role. Many schools have launched a series of moral education programs, such as"Kindness
Week",community service projects and moral story-sharing sessions.Students can experience
the joy of helping others through volunteer work like visiting elderly homes and cleaning
public parks, and understand the meaning of virtue in practice instead of just learning it from
books.
Families are the first classroom for moral education, and parents’ words and deeds have a
profound impact on teenagers.Parents should set good examples by being honest and kind in

their daily lives—such as keeping promises, helping neighbors and being grateful to
others. They should also communicate with their children regularly about online moral
issues, guide them to distinguish right from wrong online, and teach them to be responsible for
their own words and actions.
Experts in education emphasize that digital age moral education is not just about
teaching moral rules. The core of it is to cultivate teenagers’ empathy—the ability to
understand and share others’ feelings—and a sense of social responsibility. When teenagers
learn to put themselves in others’ shoes, they will naturally reject immoral behaviors and form
good moral habits.Only when schools and families work together can we help teenagers grow
into virtuous people in the digital age.

二、七选五(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多
余选项。
Some people prefer to have a bite to eat before hitting the gym, known as a fed workout.
Others would like to wait until after exercising to refuel their bodies, called a fasted workout.
______8 Many experts say there’s no easy answer because it depends on the person.
If you want energy and strength for an ideal workout, you need fuel. A fed workout will
provide your body with power. Eating before exercise may help you sustain longer sessions
and lift heavier weights. 9 Muscle preservation is also an essential component of
strengthening your body. Nitrogen (氮) is critical for processing protein that builds healthy
muscles. People tend to lose less nitrogen during a fed workout than a fasted one.
Many fitness enthusiasts are not on board with this idea. They report feeling sick and
inactive while trying to exercise after eating. With a fasted workout, you may not get the usual
indigestion. Experts for fasted workouts further claim that eating afterwards makes your body
use its fat reserves for energy, meaning you will burn more fat. 10 It can cause a
sudden drop in your blood glucose (葡萄糖) levels, and you may feel dizzy. You may even be
more likely to overeat.
11 Not all foods are created equal. For example, if you choose a fed workout,
you’ll probably lose a lot of water during an intense training, so you should consider drinking
some beforehand. With a fasted workout, it would help if you had some nutrition right after
your session is complete. Drink some water. Then, have a light meal or nutritional snack.
Deciding when to eat for an ideal workout is a personal choice. Both fasted workouts and
fed activities have their benefits and shortcomings. 12
A. However, a fasted workout might not work for you.
B. How your body will respond is based on your workout intensity.
C. These benefits can result in burning more fat and shaping a slimmer body.
试卷第 1 页,共 3 页
D. To eat or not to eat, that is the question on many fitness enthusiasts’ minds.
E. Think thoroughly and discuss with your fitness instructor before taking a choice.
F. Knowing what to eat for an ideal workout is just as important as knowing when to eat.
G. A person doing a 30-minute session a day may not have a problem with fasted workouts.
