②A Canadian study found that long-term hobbies can improve the brain'sstructure(大i脑结
)The research studied 58 people who love bird-watching.Half were experts,while the other half
were beginners.Both groups included pcople of different ages,from the 20s to the 70s,and were similar
in education level.
③During brain scans(扫描),volunteers saw a bird photo for less than four seconds.Then,they
had to pick the bird from four different pictures.This test was done 72 times,with 18 different kinds of
birds.
The expert group successfully picked out 83 percent of local birds and 61 percent of non-local
ones,while the beginners only got 44 percent right for both.The scans also showed differences in brain
structure:the areas responsible for attention and working memory were more compact (in the
