Located in Africa, the Sahara Desert covers 30 per cent of the whole continent. Known as “the great desert” in Arabic, it is about 9 million square kilometres in size, with a history of over 4.6 million years, making it one of the oldest places in the world.
As the world’s largest hot desert, the Sahara is extremely dry and hot all year round. However, not all deserts are hot. For example, scientists regard Antarctica as a typical cold desert.
Most of the Sahara is rocky land. Besides, it also has grasslands, lakes, mountains and sand seas, which look like endless oceans of sand. When the wind blows, the sand looks like waves.
Life in the Sahara is difficult. Around 2 million people live in this area. They usually move from place to place. There is water in a few parts of the Sahara, and some people live in these places all year round.
Few animals can live in a place with such a dry and hot climate. They must adapt to survive. Camels can live for a long time without water, and can drink over 100 litres of water in just 13 minutes. Fennec foxes have large ears to help their bodies stay cool.
Today, the Sahara is getting even bigger. It is 10 per cent larger than it was a century ago. But why is it growing Some scientists believe that part of the reason is climate change. As temperatures rise, summers in Africa grow hotter and less rain falls. Water bodies get smaller and the ground gets drier and drier. If we do not take effective measures, the desert will keep growing!
11.How old is the Sahara Desert according to the passage
12.Where can some people live all year round in the Sahara
13.What special ability do fennec foxes have to live in the hot desert
14.Why is the Sahara Desert becoming bigger and bigger these days
15.What can we humans do to stop the desert from growing

If you get angry many times in a day, it is time for you to think about how to deal with it. Here are some of my suggestions.
When you are angry, try to tell yourself through another voice that you are angry and that it is not a bad thing. It just shows that you have different ideas. Accept that many things are not 100% right or wrong, our communication with others, the final purpose is not to decide who is right and who is wrong, but to look for something in common.
If you still feel strong anger, try taking a deep breath and let anger out of your body along with the breath. Don’t say angry words when you are very angry, for you will regret saying them when you cool down.
Discussing with a third party is helpful. It is hard for the two parties in anger to understand each other. But the idea of an outsider can help both parties to get mutual (相互的) understanding.
Anger is just one of the many emotions that make us human, and to well manage it adds to our ability to truly understand the world.

As we all know, the Yangtze River is the longest river in China. Today let me introduce another famous river to you — the Yellow River.

Bigfoot is one of the most famous mysteries of nature. People say it is a large, hairy creature (生物). It walks upright like a human, standing over 3 metres tall with wide shoulders. Its name comes from the huge footprints—up to 35 centimetres long. Such stories have been told for hundreds of years, especially by Native American groups in North America.
Over time, many people have reported seeing Bigfoot. Most sightings happened in faraway (遥远的) forests and mountain areas. Some people said they saw it. They described it as having thick, dark fur to stay warm in cold weather, and moving much faster than you might expect. It stayed in the area after Bigfoot left. Some even said they heard deep growls (咆哮) or loud calls before catching a quick look at it.
Scientists have different ideas about Bigfoot. Many think the reports are either mistakes or made-up stories. They say people might have seen bears or other large animals and thought they were Bigfoot. They think it’s possible that scientists haven’t found this animal yet.
Whether it is real or not, Bigfoot remains something that makes people curious about nature’s secrets, encouraging us to learn more about the world around us.

From food lovers to learning or travel partners, young people have been looking for new ways to have fun together. A popular way to do so is through dazi socializing.
The word “dazi” comes from the Shanghai dialect. People first used it to talk about card-playing friends. Now, it refers to the partners who join in certain activities together. And a dazi is not like a close friend or family member. People usually don’t have a long and strong relationship with their dazi.
These years, more people are trying to look for a dazi to enjoy food, go on a trip, or study together. A study of 1,330 young people shows that 70 percent have one or more dazi. This March, she went to Gansu Province and found a travel partner there. She also found another dazi during the trip. They all had great fun during the journey.

When did you get your first smartphone Although smartphones can be useful, owning one too early is not a good idea. A new study found that getting a smartphone before the age of 13 may be harmful to people’s mental (心理的) health.
Researchers asked over 100,000 people around the world about their phone use. Some people aged 18-24 got their first smartphone at age 12 or younger. It’s more common for them to have mental health problems as adults (成年人). For example, they might often feel lonely, angry, or have sad thoughts as they grow up.
One of the key reasons behind these problems may be easy access (接触) to social media. Although most apps set the rule that users should be at least 13 years old, not everyone follows the rule.
At the same time, the age of owning the first smartphone continues to fall. In fact, 89%of 12-year-old British kids own a smartphone and the average age of getting one’s first phone is nine. Many children spend hours a day on their phones. This can cause sleep problems and do harm to family relationships. As AI and technology become part of life, they also create more challenges for face-to-face communication. All of these can influence one’s mental health.
A team of experts are calling for action to protect young kids’ mental health. They think parents and teachers should make rules about phone use for kids and teach them how to use technology safely. Teenagers should also find a balance between using technology and taking care of their mind and body. This will help build a healthier future for young people.
59.What is the new study mainly about
60.Who is more likely to have mental health problems as adults
61.According to paragraph 4, how does the writer feel about kids’ phone use now
62.Who should play a part in protecting young kids’ mental health

However, I hurt my right hand badly one month before the competition. I couldn’t play the piano anymore for a long time. I felt very sad and hopeless. I cried every day and didn’t want to talk to anyone. I thought I would never love piano or play it again.
My mother noticed my pain. She didn’t blame me or push me to practice. Instead, she sat next to me and said, “Pain is part of life. It doesn’t mean the end, but a chance to become stronger.” She encouraged me to relax and listen to beautiful piano music instead of playing it. Slowly, I started to change. I learned to accept the pain and understood that it’s okay to feel sad sometimes. I began to read more books about music and learn about great musicians. Most of them also had hard times in their lives, but they never gave up their love for music. After three months, my hand got better.
