My initial exploration of the world of comic books happened through the comic strips (连环漫画) in newspapers. It began with a fondness for Garfield and his adventures, and led to the discovery of a range of comic books like Champak and Archie. While my access to comics as a child was limited to what was printed in the newspaper, this changed once I grew older and started visiting bookstores to buy the books that I wanted to read.
Having grown up on a diet of image-heavy books, I regarded diving into all-text novels as a formidable undertaking. As I searched for books that lay somewhere in between, I came across a copy of Bhimayana — a graphic novel. It felt familiar due to its comic-like theme and design. Plus, understanding complex narratives through pictures was relatively easier and more fun. Growing older, I found myself graduating to graphic novels from childish comic books. They deal with serious topics in a more engaging manner and literally show me what was going on.
Fast-forward a few years to when I was given a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. While I was impressed by the compelling (扣人心弦的) nature of storytelling in his novel, I am not sure if I would have been able to visualize and enjoy his text-only version so much had I not read Charles Dixon’s The Hobbit first. Thanks to Charles Dixon, I had a picture of whatever had happened, and that made it easier and more fun to understand J.R.R. Tolkien’s version.
From black and white strips to illustrated graphic novels, this transformation has come a long way. While my romance with books is still ongoing, in the long run, my love for illustrated novels is more substantial and here to stay.
24.What can we learn about the author as a little kid
A.He mined newspapers for knowledge. B.Comics struck him as shallow.
C.He cared little for book categories. D.Comics were his main reading joy.
25.What does the underlined word “formidable” in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Discouraging. B.Rewarding. C.Entertaining. D.Enlightening.
26.What can be inferred about Charles Dixon’s The Hobbit
A.It contains rich visual material. B.It presents a complicated plot.
C.It focuses on the latest news. D.It shapes Tolkien’s writing style.
27.What could be the best title for the text
A.Welcome to the World of Literature B.Can’t Get Enough of Graphic Novels
C.Let Comic Books Shape Who I Am D.Find Myself through Reading Novels

For a long time, space exploration depended on large, heavy satellites that cost a huge amount of money and required powerful rockets to launch. These machines could weigh several tons and take years to design and build. But in recent years, tiny satellites have completely changed how humans explore and use outer space.
Mini-satellites (微型卫星) are no bigger than a small box. Some are even just the size of a book. At first, many space experts doubted whether such small machines could work well in outer space. They worried the tiny tools would not be strong enough to stand the environment outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
Early mini-satellites had clear limitations. They could carry only simple instruments and had short working lives. Most could not change their direction once in orbit, and their signals were easy to lose. Yet scientists refused to give up. They kept testing new materials and smaller, smarter electronic parts to solve these problems.
Modern mini-satellites are far more powerful than their early forms. Special light metals and plastic protect them from extreme temperatures and space rubbish. They are equipped with small cameras, sensors and communication systems that can record data and send messages back to Earth. Some can even move gently in orbit by using special low-power engines.
What makes these tiny satellites so useful is their ability to work in groups. Instead of launching one large satellite, scientists send up tens or even hundreds of mini-satellites at the same time. They spread out in orbit and cover larger areas than any single big satellite. This group work helps with weather recording, environmental monitoring and space mapping.
Another important advantage is the cost. Mini-satellites cost far less to build and launch. Universities, small research groups and even private companies can now afford to design and send up their own satellites. This has opened space research to far more people around the world.
Today, mini-satellites are helping humans study the weather, watch over forests and oceans, and even support communication in remote areas. They have proved that size does not decide value in space. As technology continues to improve, these small but strong satellites will play an even bigger role in the future of space exploration.
28.What protects mini-satellites from space risks
A.Thick, heavy metal covers.
B.Light metals and special plastic.
C.High power, strong engines.
D.Small, clear camera lenses.
29.What does the underlined word “limitations” in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Clear, useful advantages. B.Clear, obvious weaknesses.
C.New, useful functions. D.Old, serious problems.
30.What was a shortcoming of early mini-satellites
A.Short, limited working lives.
B.Strong, clear signal strength.
C.Easy, quick direction changes.
D.Heavy, complex material structure.
31.What is the best title for this text
A.Large, heavy old satellites
B.Space rubbish and its bad effects
C.Rocket launch costs and methods
D.Small satellites, big space value

Music is an important part of life today. It is a source of entertainment, and it is a way to express emotions(情感). But music is not only all this, it is also something that can be used to create a strong focus while people are working and is generally beneficial to the human brain and specifically the adolescents' (青少年) brain.
Music can reduce anxiety and depression, as well as improving mood and memory. Adolescents represent a stage in development when stress levels are unsteady. An analysis shows that listening to music lowers the stress hormone in the brain. Ashford University also states that music has also proven to be effective across a variety of treatment ways for conditions ranging from premature birth to depression to Parkinson's disease.
Music is also a way to stimulate the brain and help increase productivity. In Elena Mannes' study “The Power of Music” through National Public Radio (NPR), she declares the fact that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function. Tests have also shown that listening to background music can increase productivity. “In majors we listen to music as we do our work,” says visual artist, Tova Engel, “It is super helpful because it allows us all to do our own thing to create more art.”
Research done by Dr. Jonathan Burdette, a professor at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, further proves the benefit of music on the brain. Dr. Burdette conducted a study where he and his fellow investigators used a technique called functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI), to find changes in blood flow in the brain. To summarize, Dr. Burdette's research shows that listening to music that you like will improve brain connectivity, especially when doing independent work that requires a lot of internal thought and reflection. As adolescents spend a lot of time working on computers or even just doing work on paper alone, music can help teens concentrate on their thinking.
32.What's the main idea of paragraph 2
A.Music is mind medicine. B.Music is good for the brain's growth.
C.Music helps adolescents free from stress. D.Music helps patients recover from cancer.
33.Why does Tova Engel like listening to music according to the text
A.It stimulates his body. B.It helps her remove stress.
C.It gives her more strength. D.It can improve her creativity.
34.What's Dr. Burdette's attitude to listening to music that people like
A.Worried. B.Supportive. C.Uncaring. D.Doubtful.
35.What is the best title for the text
A.Music Helps Students Get Rid of Stress B.Music Makes Adolescents Fond of Art
C.Music's Benefit to the Adolescents' Brain D.Music's Function on the Brain Development
StoryTree is a website for sharing, encouraging, and recording personal and family memories and history. It can be done online or offline, in real-time, or in your own time, all in a fun and simple new way. 36 All of them work well together to support each other.
37 StoryTree is different. It lets you “tap” those photos and stories into your digital journal and topical memory books. Everyone belonging to your StoryTree can add and read the entries in real time, or at any time!
Additionally, once a week StoryTree sends everyone in a StoryTree group an interesting prompt (提示) into their StoryChat as well as to their emails, to help bring back memories and encourage reflection and discussion. 38 (But if your brother tells a big fish story, you will surely want to correct it with the true version!)
And if you prefer to save your stories and memories in an additional “private journal”, you can simply create a synchronized (同步的) personal StoryTree that only you can see. 39 In fact, create as many StoryTrees as you like, and synchronize as many as you like too!
40 It’s like having a kind and curious author come to your home whenever you want and have her interview you to compose your personal or family biography. Who doesn’t want to have a personal history book written for them There are over 700 questions in five categories the StoryBook interviewer can ask you, all about your life and family, at your leisure.
The fourth and final key tool is StoryBox. It can hold all your old photos, videos, memorable documents, talks, artwork, schoolwork to either store or to sort out later.
A.StoryTree does all of this through four key tools.
B.Memories can only be shared and preserved alone.
C.Each person can read it and respond, or not, as they like.
D.StoryTree can also serve as an “automated life-story writer”.
E.Or just use StoryTree as a private journal without any group Tree at all.
F.It can record whatever you put into your group StoryTree — automatically!
G.Most apps let shared photos and life experiences be “Here today, gone tomorrow”.

I have always been indecisive when it came to travel. I’d watch endless videos of destinations and read scores of 41 online. But more often than not, 42 fell far short of what was promised. The colourful images I’d come across online would turn out to be totally disappointing in real life.
So, a year ago, I made a change. I banned myself from too much 43 for a trip. Instead, I chose an area I wanted to 44 . I couldn’t rely on my phone. It wasn’t easy at first. I felt rudderless (漫无目的的) without my phone to guide me while wandering through 45 neighbourhoods. I was so accustomed to 46 every detail about each place I visited and without that, I was exposed.
But that’s exactly why it’s so fun. Going in unprepared opens you up to 47 . Without being glued to directions on my phone, I was 48 so much more of my surroundings, noticing details that would otherwise have 49 passed me by.
Travelling without planning has made me more 50 with making decisions. I no longer 51 if the view isn’t as breathtaking as in the photos — because I’m not comparing my 52 to anyone else’s.
Trying to have the 53 holiday is no longer the point for me; it’s about living in the present and making good 54 . And in an era where we can see the best of everything through our phones, it’s been totally 55 to have an experience that’s entirely mine.

On hot summer days, when high temperatures often reduce people’s appetite, cold desserts tend to sound far more refreshing than a bowl of hot noodles. In ancient China, nobles enjoyed a special cold food known as Sushan, 56 many scholars regard as the earliest form of ice cream.
The name Sushan, meaning crispy mountain, originally 57 (come) from its shape as well as its breakable structure. It looked like a small mountain of shaved ice 58 (combine) with milk, butter and sugar, and 59 (make) it more popular on special occasions, it was sometimes decorated with flowers and leaves.
During the Tang Dynasty, the emperor’s court 60 (far) developed this dessert. Milk was sweetened, sometimes thickened with flour, and then iced through advanced 61 (cool) methods. Metal containers holding the mixture were often placed in ice with saltpeter (硝石), 62 substance that lowers the freezing point of water. This technique made it possible for the upper class to enjoy cold dishes 63 the fact that the weather itself was not that cold.
Although Sushan was not exactly the same as modern ice cream, it shared several essential characteristics, and 64 (present) in a partly frozen state occasionally. It reflected not only the 65 (innovate) of ancient Chinese people, but also the special status that frozen desserts held in court life.

I lived in an old apartment complex where the walls were thin. For weeks,my new neighbor upstairs was keeping me awake every night between ten and midnight. What I heard was slow, forceful footsteps mixed with crying, as if someone were pacing with the weight of the world on shoulders. To cope with the noise, I would sink into the old rocking chair (摇椅) by the window. The rhythm somehow quieted my mind.
But tonight, the noise was just unbearable. I posted in the building’s group chat, “Can the 3C neighbor keep it down after 10 ” Almost immediately, Lena, a cashier at a local market, replied, “Same here. Haven’t slept well for weeks.” And Tom, who ran the secondhand shop on the corner, added, “Don’t they realize how loud it is ” A few others responded, but 3C never did.
I’d had enough. “That’s it,” I thought aloud, pulling on my slippers. “I’m going up there!” I stormed to the third floor, playing my angry speech in my head, “Keep it down! Some of us need to work tomorrow!” The moment the door opened, I blurted out (脱口而出),“Do you have any idea how much noise you’re making ” But the rest of my prepared speech got stuck in my throat. A young woman stood there, eyes red, swaying (摇晃) gently back and forth in a desperate attempt to comfort a crying baby. The apartment behind her was humble-no dining table, no chairs, not even a lamp, only a mattress (床垫) and a few empty baby food packets on the floor.
“I’m so sorry, Madam,” she whispered, managing a weak smile, “I’m just trying to get her to sleep.” That was when my anger disappeared. A familiar rhythm surfaced in my mind as I saw her sway the baby tiredly. “I have a chair downstairs that might calm your baby,” I smiled softly. She looked up, eyes widening in disbelief.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
“Let me fetch it for you,” I said and rushed downstairs.

It began with a fondness for Garfield and his adventures, and led to the discovery of a range of comic books like Champak and Archie.(我对漫画世界的初步探索,始于报纸上的连环漫画。
根据划线单词所在语境“Having grown up on a diet of image-heavy books, I regarded diving into all-text novels as a formidable undertaking. As I searched for books that lay somewhere in between, I came across a copy of Bhimayana — a graphic novel.(从小到大我读的都是图文并茂的书,因此一度觉得通读纯文字小说是件……。就在我寻找介于两者之间的书籍时,偶然发现了一本图画小说《Bhimayana》)”可知,作者一直读图文并茂的书,因此觉得纯文字小说是有难度、让人却步的事,才会寻找介于两者之间的书籍。“formidable”在此处表示“令人却步的、有难度的”。选项A“Discouraging”意为“令人气馁的、让人却步的”,与此相符。故选A。
根据文章第三段“While I was impressed by the compelling (扣人心弦的) nature of storytelling in his novel, I am not sure if I would have been able to visualize and enjoy his text-only version so much had I not read Charles Dixon’s The Hobbit first. Thanks to Charles Dixon, I had a picture of whatever had happened, and that made it easier and more fun to understand J.R.R. 故选A。
根据全文内容以及最后一段“While my romance with books is still ongoing, in the long run, my love for illustrated novels is more substantial and here to stay.(虽然我对书籍的喜爱仍在继续,但长远来看,我对图画小说的热爱更加深厚,且会一直延续下去。)” B“Can’t Get Enough of Graphic Novels(对图画小说爱不够)”精准概括作者的核心情感与文章主旨。故选B。

They could carry only simple instruments and had short working lives. Most could not change their direction once in orbit, and their signals were easy to lose. (早期的微型卫星有明确的limitations。它们只能携带简单的仪器,工作寿命短。大多数在进入轨道后无法改变方向,信号也容易丢失)”可知,此处列举的是早期微型卫星的缺点和不足,因此“limitations”指的是“明显的弱点”。故选B项。
30.细节理解题。根据第三段中“They could carry only simple instruments and had short working lives. (它们只能携带简单的仪器,工作寿命短)”可知,早期微型卫星的一个缺点是工作寿命短暂有限。故选A项。
通读全文,结合第一段中“But in recent years, tiny satellites have completely changed how humans explore and use outer space. (但近年来,微型卫星彻底改变了人类探索和利用外层空间的方式)”以及最后一段中“They have proved that size does not decide value in space. (它们已经证明,在太空中,大小并不能决定价值)”可知,本文主要讲述了体积虽小但价值巨大的微型卫星。故D项“Small satellites, big space value (小卫星,大太空价值)”能概括文章内容,最适合作为文章标题。故选D项。

【详解】32.主旨大意题。根据第二段“Music can reduce anxiety and depression, as well as improving mood and memory. (音乐可以减少焦虑和抑郁,改善情绪和记忆力。青少年代表了一个发展阶段的压力水平是不稳定的。一项分析表明,听音乐可以降低大脑中的应激激素。阿什福德大学还表示,音乐也被证明在各种各样的治疗方法中都是有效的,从早产到抑郁症再到帕金森氏症)”可知,第二段的主旨是音乐是精神药物。故选A。

根据最后一段中“Research done by Dr. Jonathan Burdette, a professor at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, further proves the benefit of music on the brain. (维克森林浸信会医疗中心的教授Jonathan Burdette博士所做的研究进一步证明了音乐对大脑的好处)”以及“To summarize, Dr. Burdette's research shows that listening to music that you like will improve brain connectivity, especially when doing independent work that requires a lot of internal thought and reflection. As adolescents spend a lot of time working on computers or even just doing work on paper alone, music can help teens concentrate on their thinking. (总而言之,Burdette博士的研究表明,听自己喜欢的音乐可以改善大脑连接,尤其是在做需要大量思考和反思的独立工作时。当青少年花很多时间在电脑上工作,甚至只是在文书工作,音乐可以帮助青少年集中他们的思考)”可推知,Burdette博士支持人们喜欢的音乐。故选B。
35.主旨大意题。根据第一段“Music is an important part of life today. It is a source of entertainment, and it is a way to express emotions(情感). But music is not only all this, it is also something that can be used to create a strong focus while people are working and is generally beneficial to the human brain and specifically the adolescents' (青少年) brain. (音乐是当今生活的重要组成部分。它是一种娱乐的来源,也是一种表达情感的方式。但音乐不仅如此,它还可以用来在人们工作时产生强烈的专注力,这通常对人类的大脑,特别是青少年的大脑有益)”结合本文主要说明了音乐对于青少年大脑的益处,能帮助他们减小压力,刺激大脑激发他们的创造力,使他们更专注。故C选项“音乐对青少年大脑的益处”最适合作为文章标题,故选C。

37.根据下文“StoryTree is different. It lets you “tap” those photos and stories into your digital journal and topical memory books. (StoryTree是不同的。它让你把那些照片和故事“点击”到你的数字日记和主题记忆书中)”可推知,上文应先描述其他应用的不足之处,以突出StoryTree的不同。G项“Most apps let shared photos and life experiences be “Here today, gone tomorrow”.(大多数应用程序让共享的照片和生活经历“今天在这里,明天就消失了”)”描述了其他应用的缺点,与下文“StoryTree is different.”

40.根据下文“It’s like having a kind and curious author come to your home whenever you want and have her interview you to compose your personal or family biography. Who doesn’t want to have a personal history book written for them There are over 700 questions in five categories the StoryBook interviewer can ask you, all about your life and family, at your leisure.(这就像有一个善良而好奇的作者在你想让她来的时候来到你家,采访你,为你撰写个人或家庭传记。谁不想有一本为自己写的个人历史书呢?StoryBook采访者可以问你五个类别的700多个问题,都是关于你的生活和家庭的,在你方便的时候)”可推知,此处应引出StoryTree作为自动传记撰写工具的功能。D项“StoryTree can also serve as an “automated life-story writer”.(StoryTree还可以作为“自动化人生故事撰写者”)”概括了后文描述的自动采访和撰写传记的功能,符合语境。

故填came。
此处combine与a small mountain of shaved ice构成被动关系,故用过去分词作后置定语。故填combined。

Paragraph 1:
“Let me fetch it for you,” I said and rushed downstairs. I dragged out the rocking chair, wrestled it upstairs and set it down beside her. “It might work,” I encouraged her to try it. She sank into it, cradling her baby, and just like that, the crying softened into quiet breaths. Eyes glistening with tears of gratitude, she whispered, “Thank you.” I waved back, closing the door behind me. Returning home, I posted a message in the group chat, explaining the young mother’s difficult situation and calling on everyone to offer her simple, respectful support. (85 words)
Paragraph 2:
The neighbors responded to my post and agreed to gather at 3C instantly. Lena arrived with some baby food and Tom followed with two chairs, telling he’d bring a bed frame the next day. Warm blankets, a small lamp, and toys neatly piled up at her door. Enveloped in warmth, the new mum choked up, “Thank you all! Your support means the world to me.” We smiled at each other, knowing we’d given a helping hand. I realized the “noise” we had complained about was actually a cry for help, and our kindness had turned conflict into care. (85 words)
①拖出:drag out/pull out
②鼓励她尝试:encourage her to try it/motivate her to have a go
③带着婴儿食品来:arrive with some baby food/come with baby food
