March is the month to learn from Lei Feng in China. Lei Feng is probably one of the most famous Chinese soldiers. He helped many people during his 22 years of life. In 1963, Mr Mao called on the nation to learn from Lei Feng, and named 5 March as “Lei Feng Day”.
Once, a group of Malaysian (马来西亚的) students from Changsha Social Work College joined their Chinese schoolmates as volunteers. They served passengers at Changsha Railway Station. They carefully helped passengers get on the train and book tickets.
“I was excited and proud when people called me the ‘Living Lei Feng’! That was the highest praise for me as a volunteer!” said Lan Zhicong, a student from Malaysia. He learnt about Lei Feng’s stories when he was in Malaysia. After coming to Changsha, Lei Feng’s hometown, he became the “Living Lei Feng” and continued to pass “the spirit of Lei Feng” with his actions.
Changsha Social Work College held an activity called “Learn from Lei Feng in Lei Feng’s hometown”. The students, like Lan Zhicong, truly enjoyed being volunteers. They realized volunteer work brought joy to both others and themselves.
Let’s all carry the spirit of Lei Feng forward and make the world a better place.

回答问题
The name “orangutan (红毛猩猩)” means “man of the forest” in the Malay language.
A century ago, there were about 230,000 orangutans in the wild, but now there are only about 112,000. They are in danger.
People have destroyed some forests so it’s hard for orangutans to find wild fruit they feed on. People also kill many orangutans. So many baby orangutans do not have moms to teach them what they need to know.
That’s why an animal organization(组织)called Four Paws built schools for orangutans. The schools teach baby orangutans how to live in the wild.
Orangutans go to different schools. Usually the youngest babies go to Nursery(育儿所). People feed them and look after them all day long. When the orangutans are 2, they go to Baby School. They learn how to climb trees and look for food. When they turn 4 years old, they go to Forest School. They stay in the forest at night. Now they can do more without the help from people.
After a few years, the orangutans have learned everything they need to know. People take them into the forest and let them go.
The orangutans will grow up in the forest. Maybe one day they will have babies. They can teach them everything they’ve learned at orangutan schools.

Dear Thompson,
How have you been lately I want to share my new hobby with you—I’ve fallen in love with Yingge Dance (英歌舞), a traditional Chinese folk dance!
A month ago, I saw a Yingge Dance performance in my community. The dancers wore colorful costumes and moved to lively music. I was so curious about this special dance that I asked my friend Jeff to learn it with me. We joined a local training class. At first, the steps were a bit difficult, but our teacher was patient. We practiced every weekend, and soon we got the hang of it.
Last week, we performed Yingge Dance at our school’s cultural festival. It was amazing to dance with the group and see everyone cheering for us! Now, I even teach my little brother Luca some basic moves. He’s not very good at it yet, but he enjoys it a lot.
Through learning Yingge Dance, I’ve learned more about Chinese history and culture. It’s not just a dance—it’s a way to pass down traditions. I think it’s one of the most interesting cultural activities I’ve ever tried. I’m so proud to experience this part of Chinese culture.
What’s your recent hobby Write back soon!
Best wishes,
Ben

Lonesome (孤独的) George was a giant tortoise (龟). He was a very rare (稀有的) animal. He was the last tortoise of his kind in the world. Giant tortoises were not always rare. When dinosaurs lived, there were millions of giant tortoises. Many of them lived on Pinta Island.
Many years ago, pirates (海盗) came to Pinta Island. Giant tortoises were good to eat. So they took many away on their ships. Tortoises can live a long time with little food or water. So they were good food for pirates on long trips. Soon, there was only one left. This was Lonesome George.
It was very exciting for scientists to find Lonesome George. He was the only one of his kind in the world. Scientists thought he might be seventy or eighty years old. This is not really old for a giant tortoise. Some can live to be two hundred years old.
Lonesome George couldn’t be left on Pinta Island. He was taken to a place where scientists could take care of him. There was a lot of space for him in his new home. Many people came to see Lonesome George. He really looked like an animal that lived with the dinosaurs.
There are many other giant tortoises in the world. However, none of them are the same kind as Lonesome George was. When Lonesome George died, his kind became extinct (灭绝). They are gone forever, like the dinosaurs.

根据短文回答下列问题,每题答案不超过6个词。
A different culture keeps my eyes and mind open. When I stayed in Russia as an exchange student, I learned about it.
One day, a Russian friend invited me to a well-known restaurant in Moscow. I looked forward to trying local food. After arriving there, I found nothing on the table but several small plates, on which there were nuts, a few slices (片) of tomatoes, and several pieces of onions.
Although the dishes were simple, we drank a lot and I felt the passion (热情) from the bottom of his heart. In China, when we invite friends or relatives, we always treat them to a big dinner. We buy as much food as we can to show our friendliness.
What a different culture it is! Even though we try our best, it’s very difficult to get used to their customs.
Another Russian custom also impresses me deeply. As we know, it is very cold in winter there. When winter comes, Russians love to swim. They even take their kids outside together. Like their parents, Russian kids rub (擦) their bodies with snow before jumping into the water. Although the water is freezing cold, they all play happily in it.
What fun it is to know about a different culture!

Sirish Subash, a 14-year-old student from Snellville, Georgia, US, recently won the 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
He made a tool that can find pesticides (农药) on fruits and vegetables. This won him $25,000 (about 180,000 yuan) and the title of “Best Young Scientist in America”.
Subash’s idea for the tool came from a simple yet important question. His mother always told him to wash fruit before eating it. The boy wondered if the action did any good.
He learned that 70 percent of fruits and vegetables have pesticides. They can bring health problems like cancer. Washing only gets away part of the pesticides. “If we could find them, we could avoid eating them and lower the risk of those health problems,” Subash said.
This led Subash to invent PestiSCAND, a small tool that people can carry around. It works by shining lights and seeing how light reflects (反射) off food. With the help of a sensor (传感器),a screen and an AI learning model, the tool can find out if there are pesticides around.
To use it, users must point PestiSCAND at the fruit or vegetable to see if they need to wash it again. They can use an app on phones to check the results. During testing, PestiSCAND was right more than 85 percent of the time in finding pesticides.
Subash plans to improve his tool and hopes to get it to market by the time he starts college. His love for science will never go away. “In 15 years, I hope to be designing and building devices (设备) that can help make the world a better place,” said Subash.

Spring is a beautiful season with blooming flowers and warmer weather. However, it is also a time when respiratory illnesses (呼吸道传染病) become common. These illnesses affect (影响) your nose, throat, and lungs, making it hard to breathe comfortably.
Why are respiratory diseases more common in spring One reason is the changing weather. Temperatures can go up and down suddenly, which weakens our body’s defense. Also, people spend more time indoors during rainy spring days, making it easier for viruses to spread. Another reason is pollen (花粉) from trees and flowers. For some people, pollen causes allergic reactions.
In many places, people easily get spring respiratory diseases from March to April. Children, teenagers and elderly people are at higher risk because their immune (免疫) systems are either still developing or weaker.
Understanding these diseases helps us stay aware. If you have symptoms (症状) like a high fever or trouble breathing, it is important to see a doctor. Remember, spring is a wonderful time, but staying aware of these illnesses helps you enjoy the season better.

Do you know what teamwork is Teamwork means working well together as a team.
Teamwork offers many benefits. First, the team can break down a large project into smaller tasks. When dealing with a large project, everyone can take on a smaller part of the work instead of placing all the burden on one person. Second, teamwork creates more opportunities. When people work together, they can solve difficult problems in the project from different perspectives (视角). People can communicate with others who have different experiences and opinions. Third, teamwork helps people recognise their strengths and weaknesses. Because when they work in a group, they may often try to consider and think about their behaviors carefully.
However, there are some disadvantages of teamwork. First, teamwork may be unfair. Sometimes the work isn’t distributed equally (平均地). Hard-working members may receive the same rewards as the lazy ones, which is unfair. The team might fall apart. Second, it can lead to unhealthy competition. When people are placed on the same team, they may compete with each other naturally. If this becomes the group’s focus, the quality of teamwork may drop, Finally, some people who are used to working by themselves will work better alone than in a team. And their working style might not be good for team unity.
In a word, every coin has its two sides. Teamwork can really help us do better if we use it right.
