(2025 ·浙江卓越联盟期中)Unlike most of her peers who left their rural hometowns, 34-year-old Ning Fenfang left her job in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in 2017 and worked as a village official in her hometown—a mountainous village in Cili County in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. Now she farms over 66.7 hectares of land.
Seeing much of the farmland had been deserted, Ning resigned from her post in 2020 and became a full-time farmer, renting the farmland and hiring villagers to work it. She founded a centre to hire housewives in the village to work her farmland during busy hours.
“It's never easy,” said Ning. It is very rare for young people to become farmers in rural areas, as farming is labour-intensive and requires constant work in the mud. What's more, farming is conventionally seen as a job “unsuitable” for both the post-90s generation and women.
Her decision to become a farmer confused many of her fellow villagers and farming was much more difficult than she had imagined. She experienced tremendous pain due to the intensive labour. At first, she didn't farm much through lack of farming knowledge, so she didn't feel pressured to succeed. Later, she decided to expand the scale and spent millions of yuan. “Most of the money is borrowed from banks, families and relatives, so there is no turning back,” she said. Weighing up the pros and cons, her husband ultimately gave up his enterprise to work with her.
She has tried to turn farming into a “trendy” job. Instead of traditional farming methods which rely on human labour, Ning promotes mechanized farming, such as using harvesters, cultivators and drones. She also plans to explore the agricultural tourism resources in Zhangjiajie for children living in urban areas to experience farming.
Being elected to the 14th National People's Congress has motivated Ning to feel more responsible for fellow farmers. “NPC deputies from the grassroots need to consider rural farmers' needs and bring their voices to the two sessions,” Ning said.

(2025·安徽十校期末联考)The robots are coming! In science fiction that is usually a terrible warning.Even if we know robots are not literally the murderous machines of films in which the inventor loses control of his creation, they can inspire fear.In the real world, they are able to kill off well-paid jobs in factories and warehouses.Nevertheless, the latest advances in robotics will bring real and fundamental benefits.
New “multimodal” AI models combine understanding of language and vision with data. This makes it possible to deal with robots using ordinary words. You can ask a robot what it is able to see or tell it to “pick up the yellow fruit”.Such models in effect allow robots a degree of common sense—in this case, knowing that a nearby banana is a kind of yellow fruit. You can tell a robot to adjust its behaviour simply by changing an instruction, something that would previously have required complicated reprogramming.
The new models enable robots to explain the reasoning behind their actions. That is useful when they behave in unexpected or unwelcome ways.So long as robots' brains are not confusing black boxes, programming and debugging (排错) them is fairly straightforward. The new models are also less likely to make things up, as the way they perceive things is rooted in observations of the world, and they aim to ensure that cognitive and physical reality match.
Labour markets across the rich world are tight—and getting tighter as societies age.Advanced economies will need more automation if they are to maintain their standards of living as they are aging rapidly.Without robots to help out, more people may have to work longer and retire later. In the coming years, attitudes could well change from fearing the arrival of robots to wishing that they would get here sooner.

Have you ever felt the urge to input critical financial information on a not-so-familiar business' website Would you dare to entrust your credit card details or passwords to potentially unsafe trading platforms
Researchers from the University of Vienna have tackled this dilemma by designing an unconditionally secure system for conducting trade in such situations. This solution is “quantum (量子)-digital payment” which combines cryptographic (加密的) methods with the properties of quantum light.
In today's payment ecosystem, customers' sensitive data is replaced by sets of random numbers, and the uniqueness of each trade is secured by a classical cryptographic method. However, companies with powerful computational resources can break these codes and recover customers' private data, and for example, make payment in their name.
A research team led by Professor Philip Walther from the University of Vienna has shown how the quantum properties of light can ensure security of digital payment. In an experiment, the researchers demonstrated that each trade cannot be copied. They replaced classical cryptographic techniques with a quantum protocol (协议) using single photons, a unit of energy.
During the course of a classical digital payment trade, the client shares a classical code called “cryptogram” with his payment provider. This cryptogram is then passed on between the purchaser, businessmen, and payment provider. In the demonstrated quantum protocol, this cryptogram is generated by having the payment provider sending particularly prepared single photons to the client.
The researchers successfully conducted quantum-digital payment, connecting two university buildings in downtown Vienna. Digital payment currently operates within a few seconds. “At present, our protocol takes a few minutes of quantum communication to complete a trade. This is to guarantee security in the presence of noise and losses,” says Philip Walther. “However, these time limitations are only of technological nature. We will witness that quantum-digital payment reaches practical performance in the very near future.”

【改编自外研选必三U4】
Mr Anderson said, “Where's Jimmy, dear?” “Out on the crater,” said Mrs Anderson. “Robutt is with him.Did he arrive?” “Yes.He's at the rocket station, going through the tests.I haven't really seen one since I left Earth 15 years ago.”
“Jimmy has never seen one,” said Mrs Anderson.
“Because he's Moon-born and can't visit Earth. That's why I'm bringing one here. I think it's the first one ever on the Moon.”
Jimmy was out on the crater, as his mother had said. His arms and legs were long and agile. He looked thicker and stubbier with his spacesuit on, but he could handle the lunar gravity as no Earth-born human being could. The outer side of the crater sloped southward and the Earth, which was low in the southern sky, was nearly full, so that the entire crater-slope was brightly lit.The slope was a gentle one and even the weight of the spacesuit couldn't keep Jimmy from racing up it in a floating hop that made the gravity seem nonexistent.
“Come on, Robutt,” he shouted.Robutt, who could hear him by radio, squeaked and bounded after.
Jimmy, expert though he was, couldn't outrace Robutt, who didn't need a spacesuit, and had four legs and tendons of steel. Jimmy couldn't go wrong while Robutt was around, tripping him when he was too near a rock, or jumping on him to show how much he loved him, or circling around and squeaking low and scared when Jimmy hid behind a rock, when all the time Robutt knew well enough where he was.
He heard his father's voice on his private wavelength. “Jimmy, come back. I have something to tell you.”
Mr Anderson was smiling. “We have something for you, Jimmy. It's at the rocket station now, but we'll have it tomorrow after all the tests are over.”
“From Earth, Dad?”
“A dog from Earth, son.The first dog on the Moon. You won't need Robutt any more.We can't keep them both, and some other boy or girl will have Robutt.” He seemed to be waiting for Jimmy to say something, then he said, “You know what a dog is, Jimmy. It's the real thing. Robutt's only a mechanical imitation, a robot-mutt.That's how he got his name.”
1.Why can't Jimmy visit Earth
A.He doesn't have a spacesuit.
B.He is too young.
C.He is Moon-born.
D.There are no rockets available.

2.What does the underlined word “agile” mean in paragraph 4
A.Flexible. B.Clumsy.

3.What can we infer from the passage
A.Jimmy will be happy to get rid of Robutt.
B.Robutt will be destroyed after the dog arrives.
C.Jimmy is not excited about the dog.
D.Mr Anderson is looking forward to seeing Jimmy's reaction to the dog.

(2025·济宁名校联盟质量检测)Chinese material scientists have found the soil on the moon may potentially be able to generate oxygen and fuel, an awesome discovery that means more possibilities of humans' using lunar resources for further exploration of the moon and beyond.
The researchers at Nanjing University showed that the lunar sample brought back by China's Chang'e 5 contains active compounds (化合物) that can change carbon dioxide into oxygen and fuel. Initially, they hoped to design a system that took advantage of lunar soil and solar radiation, the two rich resources on the moon, according to a study published on Thursday in the journal Joule.
After analyzing the lunar soil, the team found the sample contains metal-rich substances, which can work as a catalyst (催化剂) to make oxygen using sunlight and carbon dioxide. The team proposed a strategy using lunar soil to electrolyze water from the moon and the astronauts' life support system into oxygen and hydrogen. The process was powered by sunlight. The carbon dioxide breathed out by moon inhabitants could be collected and combined with hydrogen to produce the fuel, also catalyzed by the lunar soil, according to the study. The researchers said with this method, no external energy apart from sunlight would be used to produce oxygen and fuel to support life on a moon base.
“We use the environmental resources to minimize the rocket payload, and our strategy provides a scenario for a sustainable and affordable living environment for life in the cosmos,” said the paper's first author Yao Yingfang from Nanjing University, expressing his assumption.
“The challenge lies in the fact that catalytic efficiency of lunar soil is lower than catalysts on the Earth,” said the researchers. They are testing different approaches in order to improve the design. The team is looking for an opportunity to test the system in space with China's future manned lunar missions.

(2025·德州期末)Buried under ash after Vesuvius' eruption, hundreds of scrolls have kept their secrets hidden for centuries. But archaeologists have now been able to reveal some of the ancient text with the help of artificial intelligence.
Discovered in the ruins of a villa, the Herculaneum scrolls are a collection of around 1,000 scrolls, along with other relics. In earlier times, many people tried to unlock the secrets of scrolls but in vain, mainly because most of them were fragile (易碎的) and would shatter into pieces if unrolled.
Until now, the only way to read what's inside the scrolls is to put together the thousands of pieces, which may take 500 years to reveal their content. Fortunately, a team led by professor Seales had already pioneered a way to “virtually unwrap” an ancient scroll using X-ray tomography (层析成像). But that was not enough to read the barely visible ink on the ancient documents. The chemistry of the ink from the ancient world is different from the chemistry from medieval times. It's largely invisible to the naked eye even when caught by the X-ray.
In 2019, they did come up with a solution based on artificial intelligence to “see” the ink, but it needed much data. So they launched the Vesuvius Challenge to accelerate the work and released software and thousands of 3D X-ray images of pieces and two rolled-up scrolls, in the hope that global research groups would take up the challenge.
In the end, a team of three students shared the grand prize. They could read 2,000 letters from the scroll after training machine-learning algorithms on the scans. After they created a 3D scan of the text using a CT scan, the scroll was then separated into segments (部分). A machine learning model—an application of AI—then detected the inked regions, allowing them to decipher the text.
Mastro, a professor at the University of Naples, called the technique “revolutionary”. “We worked literally day and night to study them, but I am more excited that using this method we can reveal what has been hidden in the scrolls for almost 2,000 years,” said Mastro.

Jack Norworth reportedly had never seen a Major League Baseball game.He did not see one until thirty-three years after he wrote the song.People still sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during baseball games. In the game, near the end everyone stands up and stretches their arms and legs. Most often, they sing the song together.

Recently, I found myself back at the Tube station. It had been my home station when I first lived in London in my 20s. When I stepped off the train and onto the platform, a strange thing happened. For a moment, I felt time collapse, and my feet automatically (自动地) picked up the way they'd followed every day for seven years.
At that time, I couldn't have told you whether I was 24 or 42. The girl from the past and the woman here now were one and the same. I felt her enthusiasm and sense of self-belief, realizing them as real and as a memory at the same time. When I came out of the station, my body was made to go left—to follow the path home—until my mind corrected it, turned me right, and sent me off into the day. At that moment I was very clear about what I was thinking, but it made me wonder about what it would be like to go back.
When I stood at the station, however, I saw the advantage in looking back. I asked myself if my 24-year-old self would be proud of me today. Perhaps there would be something that she'd be excited about—the people I've worked with and the friends I've kept. Maybe that's what she'd cherish, while I tried to explain to her the concepts of “cost-of-living” and mortgage (按揭贷款).
Looking back also allowed me to remember how big she dreamed and how enthusiastically she believed in things. I remembered her love of fun and how much she enjoyed a party. A few days after, I found myself turning to music lists belonging to my 24-year-old self and dancing to them, timelines merging once again. Looking back gives me the energy to move forwards.

Out in the Atlantic Ocean, roughly 60 miles off the northwest coast of Africa, lie the Canary Islands. In the 1950s, the boom in package tourism showed promise as a new cash crop. But while the Canary Islands had the sunshine, warm climate and ease of access from Europe needed for this new industry, they were missing a vital element—picture-postcard sandy beaches.
So the developers on Tenerife in the Canary Islands constructed a breakwater (防波堤) over half a mile long. And then, from the Western Sahara on Africa's northwest coast, they shipped in 270,000 tons of sand.By 1973, the project was complete. As anticipated, tourists arrived.Along the engineered beach, rows and rows of tourists relax on beach chairs under umbrellas or walk across soft sand to cool down in the water.
Unanticipated was what their presence gave to one of the world's most endangered fish species, angel sharks—visibility. The gentle wind creates tiny waves on the water's surface, a magical cover for what lies beneath—an angel shark nursery.Female angel sharks regularly migrate to these ideally sheltered waters to give birth to pups (幼崽), who remain in the shallows for about a year.Feeding on small fishes, they grow to around the same length as a newborn human baby.
Surveys have shown that other beaches in the Canary Islands are also potential nursery sites.Interestingly, most of them have been remade to make them more attractive to people.Playa Chica has another long sweep of imported sand. It's an attraction for divers as well as angel sharks, so the number of sightings of mature angel sharks of this shoreline is one of the highest in the islands.
Normally, environmentally disruptive projects are bad for wildlife. But what's clear is that after the breakwater was built and the sand arrived, people followed, and in the calm, shallow waters they began to see baby angel sharks. And unlike how many an association between humans and wildlife ends—in conflict and dead animals—this time it led to conservation.

Robot guide dogs may soon become available to the 17 million visually impaired people in China thanks to researchers from Northwestern Polytechnical University, who achieved a breakthrough using an artificial intelligence language model.
The AI guide dog can provide assistance in life such as crossing streets, using elevators and guiding indoor spaces without having to be connected to the Internet. It is a big step in exploring the application of involved intelligence—an intelligent machine with a physical form that can interact with the environment in real-time using sensors to conduct instructions or make decisions. The research makes it possible to provide better guidance services for visually impaired people, especially for emotional companionship.
“Though in recent years there have been some electronic navigation aids (导航助手), such as electronic navigation helmets, navigation canes, and electronic guide dogs, they cannot engage in conversations with people or fully understand human instructions,” said Sun Zhe, an associate professor at the university‘s School of Artificial Intelligence, Optics and Electronics. “They can only perform tasks according to pre-designed programs. They are just cold machines. That's not enough.Visually impaired people face numerous challenges in daily life, including navigation difficulties and possible dangers, but smart guide dogs using the language model can offer them more convenient and safer guidance, effectively improving their life quality.” Sun said.
The research team began developing the smart guide dog based on the AI model at the end of last month. Its findings have been published in the Communications of the Chinese Computer Society.“The current results prove the possibility of this approach, but there is still some way to go before it can be put into practical application,” Sun said.“We will put more effort into it and make it available for those in need as soon as possible.”

Dear Brian,
Are you feeling better now It's a pity that you missed Mr. Smith's wonderful lecture because of illness last week. And I'm writing to share something about it with you.
The lecture consisted of three parts. First of all, Mr. Smith showed us several brilliant pieces of English writing. Then, he introduced us to some useful writing strategies, for example, reading more and noting down beautiful sentences. They are good for improving our expression skills. In the end, he suggested that we practice writing on a regular basis.
This lecture was really wonderful. It made me more interested in writing.
  Best wishes!
Yours,

When I was young, I lived in a small village in Melaka. The spirit of good neighborliness was very strong then. The village had a variety of trades to serve the needs of the villagers. There was a barber, tailor, coffee shop owner, grocer and so on. All of us were quite poor but we got by. However, there was a family which could be considered to live a marginal existence. It was the Lim family living in the bicycle shop opposite our dwelling.
Mr. Lim, the bicycle mechanic, had a large brood of children—twelve to be exact. My mother was a kind-hearted soul. Often, she would remark that his children were dressed in ragged clothes and looked malnourished (营养不良的). My family was relatively better off in the village. My parents would bring whatever food we could spare to the Lim family.
I remember one particular year when times were very hard. Even my family had to make do with two meals a day. We stopped the practice of giving food to Mr. Lim. One day, I noticed my mother looking troubled. She had learned that the Lim family had not been eating for the past two days. She decided to sacrifice a portion of our meals for the family despite the protests from my brothers that were too hungry. Fortunately, the lean spell (困难时期) did not last long, and the children in our family resumed our three meals a day.
As time went on, the number of customers at Lim's shop increased rapidly. Business at his shop took off like a rocket. The family was much wealthier than before.
It was at this time that my father's health was worsening. We were confused by the mysterious illness he was suffering from. Because of lack of attention to his grocery store, the business became worse. My father then sold our family car to pay off the mounting bills. My brothers and I had to stop schooling because we could not afford the fees.

With the help of Mr. Lim, the situation in my family took a turn for the better. ____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
They say that one good deed deserves another. Mr. Lim, our neighbor, learned of our plight and stepped in to help. He stated simply that it was his turn to repay the kindness that my parents had shown to him in the past. Mr. Lim arranged for my father to consult a famous doctor. Not only was this doctor's diagnosis of my father's medical condition accurate, but the doctor was also able to cure my father. Besides, he arranged a loan for my father's business. He also told my brothers and me that we should not give up our education and arranged to finance our education.
With the help of Mr. Lim, the situation in my family took a turn for the better. My father recovered from his illness gradually and his business recovered the next year. My father is now the proud owner of the village's mini-market. Mr. Lim has expanded his business, too. My brothers and I are among the top students in the school. Whenever my parents met up with Mr. Lim, they would thank him for his past help. He would just say that he was merely repaying a kindness. The children in both families have brotherly friendship now. The story between the Lim family and my family has proved a saying that kindness leads to kindness.(共26张PPT)

[1]William Dunn grew up in Miami in a rough area. His dad ran a lobster business in the Florida Keys, and William helped with it. He and his dad had a great relationship. Fishing was a huge part of that. “Fishing was so peaceful,” William says. “It was like an escape.”
[2]After graduating from a college in town, William married his girlfriend Lily, his college classmate and settled in Lakeland, Florida. They had a happy family and raised two lovely kids. Amy, an eight-year-old, always wore a smile while talking, while Ted, aged 5, loved getting into trouble at home.
[3]During the week, William worked as a tire salesman. On weekends, he would take his family to fish in a lake nearby. The kids always enjoyed the happy time on the water, casting their lines into the shining lake as the sun dipped low on the horizon. They laughed and chatted excitedly. Each tug on the line brought a burst of anticipation, and when they finally reeled in (拉回) their catch, their faces lit up with pride and joy. Between fishing, they paddled around in a small boat, dipping their hands into the cool water and marveling at the tiny fish beneath the surface. The day was filled with the simple pleasures of nature, creating memories they would cherish for years to come.
[4]The neighborhood was friendly, houses neatly arranged with a checkerboard of green lawns. Everyone was willing to lend a hand when someone was in need. Next to William and Lily's was Mrs. Douglas and her only child, Camran. The single mom didn't get along well with her six-year-old. William noticed a couple of times Camran storm out of the house, shouting at his mom. One day, William saw the boy outside and started a conversation. Camran shared that his dad wasn't in his life.

(2016·全国卷Ⅱ阅读)A new collection of photos brings an unsuccessful Antarctic voyage back to life.
[Frank Hurley's pictures would be outstanding—undoubtedly first-rate photo-journalism]①—if they had been made last week. [In fact, they were shot from 1914 through 1916, most of them after a disastrous shipwreck (海难), by a cameraman who had no reasonable expectation of survival]②. Many of the images were stored in an ice chest, under freezing water, in the damaged wooden ship.
The ship was the Endurance, a small, tight, Norwegian-built three-master (三桅船) that was intended to take Sir Ernest Shackleton and a small crew of seamen and scientists, 27 men in all, to the southernmost shore of Antarctica's Weddell Sea. [From that point Shackleton wanted to force a passage by dog sled (雪橇) across the continent. The journey was intended to achieve more than what Captain Robert Falcon Scott had done.]③ Captain Scott had reached the South Pole early in 1912 but had died with his four companions on the march back.
As writer Caroline Alexander makes clear in her forceful and well-researched story The Endurance, adventuring was even then a thoroughly commercial effort. Scott's last journey, completed as he lay in a tent dying of cold and hunger, caught the world's imagination, and a film made in his honor drew crowds. Shackleton, a onetime British merchant-navy officer who had got to within 100 miles of the South Pole in 1908, started a business before his 1914 voyage to make money from movie and still photography. [Frank Hurley, a confident and gifted Australian photographer who knew the Antarctic, was hired to make the images, most of which have never before been published.]④

As artificial intelligence(AI) systems become more advanced, we can expect them to be used more often in the world of human medicine and healthcare.AI is designed to imitate the human brain in decision making and learning,so with the computing power to learn tasks in days or even hours, it is possible to create medical AIs that rapidly outperform doctors in certain tasks.
Data plays a hugely important role in helping AI systems learn about human medicine.AI systems are trained on large data sets gathered from real-life cases.Providing detailed patient information in quantities is a crucial factor for their success.
One of the most important areas for influencing global health is in the field of epidemiology (流行病学).Predicting disease outbreaks can save millions of lives by having resources ready if the worst should happen.Startup AIME has successfully combined public health data with machine learning and AI to create a prediction engine capable of anticipating epidemics months in advance with great accuracy.
Another field where medical AIs are making rapid advances is in diagnostics (诊断学).Doctors base a lot of decisions on information from X-ray,CT and MRI images.Speeding up diagnoses from patient scans can rapidly improve patient care and puter vision AIs use pattern recognition to work through these images with incredible speed and accuracy. They have been able to outperform junior doctors and even senior specialists in some tests.
Cardiologist (心脏病专家) Rima Arnaout developed an AI that beat human experts at correctly interpreting echocardiograms (超声波心动图) by 92 percent to 79 percent. She said that despite the result there is no prospect of AI replacing human doctors any time soon.“As cardiologists,we read the images and then go to see the patient,” she said.“So we're both reading images and practicing medicine.I don't think that the second piece will be taken over so quickly.”
The acceptance of AI in medicine will continue to gather pace in the future as it becomes more widespread.

In the words of Professor Stephen Hawking, artificial intelligence will be “either the best, or the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity”.Technology of Tomorrow Forum wants to hear your thoughts on AI.Is it our greatest human achievement so far?Or is it the biggest threat to our existence
Millenniumbutterfly
Thanks to AI, I've got my own super-smart personal assistant built into my phone. She always has an immediate answer for any question I put to her, and even uses my answers to learn more about my preferences. It used to feel like 50 per cent of my time was spent researching new restaurants. In contrast, my PA only needs a few seconds to find the right place. Every recommendation she gives me is great since she can predict if I will like a particular restaurant.
And speaking of hanging out, I'm hoping that self-driving cars are available soon. I've been taking driving lessons for over a year, and still haven't got my licence. Self-driving cars can learn to drive in the same way that we do, and can make judgements based on information. And as they won't be susceptible to human error, they'll certainly be a lot safer. The only thing is that there might be a few machine-learning problems when the first cars hit the market, so perhaps I'd better learn to drive first. Still, I do think that developments in AI will on the whole make doing day-to-day things a lot easier.
Pink_haze
Machine learning is something we have come to accept as a part of our modern world. I believe most of the value of AI lies in its capacity to analyse and interpret vast amounts of data, which means it can even solve problems that are too challenging for human experts.
But while super-intelligent AI could be the biggest leap forward in human history, if it goes wrong or falls into the wrong hands, it could also be the most dangerous. However, AI is not going to go away. We have no choice but to embrace it and regulate it. One thing I think we all agree on, though, is that saying “My AI did it!” won't be any excuse for illegal or immoral behaviour!

(2025·清远高二检测)Advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) have enabled authentic-sounding speech synthesis (语音合成) to the point that a person can no longer distinguish whether they are talking to another human or a deepfake (深度伪造). If a person's own voice is “cloned” by a third party without their agreement, bad guys can use it to send any message they want.
Computer scientist and engineer Ning Zhang has developed a new method to prevent unauthorized speech synthesis before it takes place: a tool called AntiFake.
Traditional deepfake detection methods only work after the damage is done. However, AntiFake prevents voice data from being synthesized into an audio deepfake beforehand. This tool turns the tables on cybercriminals (网络罪犯) by using similar voice cloning techniques they employ, but for voice protection.
The software complicates voice data extraction and feature identification crucial for voice synthesis. “We're using an opposite AI technique originally used by cybercriminals, but now we're using it against them,” Zhang explained. “We slightly change the recorded audio, just enough to make it unusable for voice clone training while still sounding natural to humans.”
Ben Zhao, a professor of computer science at University of Chicago, says that the software, like all digital security systems, will never provide complete protection. But, he adds that it can raise the bar and limit the attack to a smaller group of individuals with significant resources.
AntiFake can already protect shorter voice recordings against cloning. The creators of the tool believe that it could be extended to protect larger audio documents or music from misuse. But the methods and tools that are developed must be continuously adapted because cybercriminals will learn and grow with them.
【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一种名为AntiFake的新技术工具,该工具旨在通过预先阻止未经授权的语音合成来应对语音深度伪造的问题。

China is likely to become the first country to bring Martian soil back to Earth in an ambitious science and engineering attempt. The nation plans to collect Martian samples and then bring them back to Earth around 2030 via a historic mission named Tianwen 3.
If everything goes according to plan, the samples could become the first to be returned to Earth from Mars, and will help scientists look for traces of life on Mars, learn more about the planet's geology (地质学) and inner structures, and understand its atmospheric cycles.
Yang Yuguang, a senior space industry observer and chair of the International Astronautical Federation's Space Transportation Committee, said on Friday that no one has ever attempted to bring samples back from Mars because it would be an extremely sophisticated procedure.
“First, anyone who wishes to get back Martian soil needs to, in the first place, take to the planet a craft which can lift off from the Martian surface to send samples to Martian orbit, and that means such a craft must be large enough to contain engines and propellants (推进剂).”
“And landing a large craft safely on the Martian surface would be exceptionally challenging, considering the fact that landing on Mars is far more difficult than a lunar landing due to the complex atmosphere surrounding Mars,” he said.
Even if the craft could land on Mars and it could lift off, Yang said that a new challenge would follow—how to guide it to carry out an accurate meeting and docking with the orbiter (轨道飞行器) flying around the planet to wait for samples.
“In our lunar sample-return missions, the most complicated part was the in-orbit meeting and docking between the sample-carrying craft and the orbiter, and that operation at least had Earth-based telemetry (遥控技术) and other types of technical support.By comparison, there will be virtually no technical assistance in the same process taking place in Martian orbit due to the very long distance,” the expert explained.
【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了中国计划通过天问三号任务在2030年前后将火星土壤样本带回地球,并阐述了该任务的重要意义与面临的挑战。

5.What do we know about the Martian mission named Tianwen 3

D.No country will bring samples back from Mars before it.
解析:细节理解题。根据第一段内容可知,天问三号的主要任务是收集火星土壤样本,并将其带回地球。

6.What does the underlined word “sophisticated” mean in paragraph 3
A.Experienced. B.Threatening.
C.Astonishing. D.Complicated.
解析:词义猜测题。根据画线词所在句中的“no one has ever...back from Mars”、第四段中的“that means such a... engines and propellants”、第五段中的“landing a large craft...would be exceptionally challenging”和第六段中的“a new challenge would follow...to wait for samples”可知,从火星带回土壤样本是一个极其复杂的过程,画线词意为“复杂的”,complicated与其意思接近。

7.According to the passage, what can we know about the mission
A.A large craft is needed to send samples to Earth.
B.Safe landing on Mars is difficult due to lack of air.
C.The in-orbit meeting and docking is the most challenging part.
D.Technical support is available to reduce its difficulty.

8.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage

Ellen Ochoa's life journey offers an outstanding example of how invention can lead to adventure. She first worked as a creative engineer and went on to become the world's first Hispanic female astronaut.
Ochoa graduated from San Diego State University in 1980 with a degree in Physics.Mindful of her mother‘s stress on the importance of education, she entered graduate school at Stanford University. When Neil Armstrong had first walked on the moon, Ochoa was 11 years old. It never would have hit her then that she too might someday become an astronaut. However, in 1983, when Ochoa was on the way to earning her PhD in Electrical Engineering, Sally Ride became the first female U.S.astronaut.This gave Ochoa the encouragement to aim high.Upon graduation, she applied to NASA to become an astronaut herself.
At Stanford, Ochoa specialized in designing optical (光学的) systems that study the objects that they “see”.After graduating, she continued this work at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sandia's work for NASA includes developing optical, computerized recordings and models of events and phenomena (现象) in space. In time, Ochoa became the co-inventor of three optical devices.Later, working at NASA's Ames Research Center, Ochoa branched off into developing computer systems designed for space exploration. Here she also managed a team of 35 scientists.
Ochoa‘s excellence in optics and computer hardware had caught NASA’s attention. In 1990, NASA accepted her into its astronaut training program, and in July 1991, Ochoa became an official U.S. astronaut. Less than two years later, Ochoa flew as a Mission Specialist on a Discovery Space Shuttle Mission.
Ellen Ochoa has won numerous awards for her success as an engineer, an astronaut, and a role model—not just for Hispanic or female ambitious scientists, but for anyone who believes that excellence will finally find its recognition and reward.

Satellites are an important part of our ordinary lives. For example, the information about weather forecasts is sent by satellite. Some satellites have cameras which take photographs of Earth to show how clouds are moving. Satellites are also used to connect our phone calls.
Computer connections to the World Wide Web and the Internet also use satellites. Many of our TV programs come to us by satellite. Airplane pilots sometimes also use a satellite to help themselves find their exact location.
We use satellites to send television pictures from one part of the world to another. They are usually 35,880 kilometers above the equator (赤道). Sometimes we can see a satellite in the sky and it seems to stay in the same place. This is because it is moving around the world at 11,000 kilometers an hour—exactly the same speed at which the Earth rotates (转动). A satellite must move around the Earth with its antennae (天线) facing the Earth. Sometimes, it moves away from its orbit, so there are some rockets on it which are used to put the satellite back in the right position. This usually happens about every five or six days.
Space is not empty! Every week, more and more satellites are sent into space to orbit Earth. A satellite usually works for about 10-12 years. Satellites which are broken are sometimes repaired by astronauts or sometimes brought back to Earth to be repaired. Often, very old or broken satellites are left in the cosmos to orbit Earth for a very long time. Tragically, this is very dangerous because some satellites use nuclear power and they can crash into each other.

After years of observing human nature, I have decided that two qualities make a difference between men of great achievement and men of average performance—curiosity and discontent.I have never known an outstanding man who lacked either. And I have never known an average man who had both.
Together, these deep human urges (驱策力) count for much more than ambition. Galileo was not merely ambitious when he dropped objects of varying weights from the Leaning Tower at Pisa and timed their fall to the ground. Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why?”
Fortunately, curiosity and discontent don‘t have to be learned. We are born with them and need only to recapture them.“The great man,” said Mencius, “is he who does not lose his child’s heart.” Yet most of us do lose it.We stop asking questions. We stop challenging custom. We just follow the crowd. And the crowd desires only the calm and restful average.
Most of us meet new people and new ideas, with hesitation. But once having met and liked them, we think how terrible it would have been, had we missed the chance. We will probably have to force ourselves to waken our curiosity and discontent and keep them awake.
How should you start Modestly, so as not to become discouraged. I think of one friend who couldn't arrange flowers to satisfy herself. She was curious about how the experts did it.
The way to begin is to answer your own excuses. You don't have any special ability Most people don't; there are only a few geniuses. You don't have any time That's good, because it's always the people with no time who get things done.Harriet Stowe, mother of six, wrote parts of Uncle Tom's Cabin while cooking. You're too old Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel, and that Grandma Moses showed her first pictures when she was 78.
However you start, remember there is no better time to start than right now, for you'll never be more alive than you are at this moment.

Of all the places of interest in China, my favorite is the Great Wall. The Great Wall, originally built to resist the invasion from the North, now has become a well-known place of interest, attracting tourists from all over the world. As a saying goes, “One who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero.”
The reason why I am fascinated by the Great Wall is that it is a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization and one of the world's oldest and most magnificent man-made scenes. Given its outstanding architectural achievement and remarkable historical influence, the Great Wall was listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1987.
第二节(满分25分)
  阅读下面的材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When starting my sixth-grade year, I was nervous about many things. But nothing compared to the problem that I got to the age when my voice started changing. At first, the voice getting deep excited me. But then I learned before getting deeper, it can crack (变嘶哑).
The first time it happened I was so embarrassed. Surprisingly, my friends didn't make fun of me. In fact, they didn't even mention it. But in my self-conscious sixth-grade mind I was certain they made fun of me behind my back. They didn't have the same problem.
After my first voice crack experience, I was determined to make sure it wouldn't happen again. At least not in public. So, except for necessary times I said “cool” and “yeah”, I didn't talk. My logic was, “If I don't use my voice, it cannot crack.” However, I couldn't go without talking forever. I needed a new solution.
I began clearing my throat before speaking, which actually seemed to help. Limiting how much I spoke and clearing my throat made me much less stressed. This was great but there was a larger problem. I was much more scared of having a crack in my voice during class. My class had many new kids I'd never spoken with. I didn't want their first impressions of me to be based on a crack.
Unfortunately, one day my concern became a reality. It was about two months after the beginning of the term. On the day it happened everything was the same as always until I got into the classroom. I noticed that we had a substitute teacher (代课老师) and immediately started thinking about how he would take attendance. My permanent teacher never had to, since he already knew each student. I panicked. So many thoughts ran through my mind that I couldn't think straight. I calmed myself down by telling myself that I only had to say one word “Here”. “Easy enough, right?” I thought so until my name was called. I did my routine—cleared my throat, took a breath, and said, “Here.” The only problem was that while saying this, I had the worst crack in my voice.
  注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
The whole class turned to look at me._________________________
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“You know, the voice problem you encountered in class is normal,” a classmate came to me and said._______________________
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
The whole class turned to look at me. I felt my face turning red and wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole. The embarrassment was unbearable, and I couldn't even bring myself to meet anyone's gaze. After what seemed like an eternity, the substitute teacher finally spoke up, breaking the awkward silence. He chuckled and said, “Well, that's quite a lovely young voice!” The class laughed pleasantly along with him, and I managed a weak smile, wondering whether they were just trying to make me feel better. Finally, the bell rang and I rushed out to have some fresh air.
“You know, the voice problem you encountered in class is normal, ” a classmate came to me and said. “Everyone goes through it. It happens to most of us during this stage of life.” He explained how he had also experienced the same thing and how he had learned to embrace it as a natural part of growing up. I looked at him in surprise, grateful for his comforting words. My initial embarrassment and concern gave way to gratitude and confidence. My classmates were understanding and supportive, just as my friends had been from the beginning. With their encouragement, I gradually became more confident about using my voice, accepting the changes that came with adolescence without fear or shame.(共87张PPT)

Waves are a vital part of the ocean system, helping to control the rate at which the ocean absorbs heat and carbon dioxide and shape and sustain coastlines. And as ocean temperatures rise and weather patterns shift, they are changing, in some oceans growing bigger and more powerful.
This has frightening implications for coastlines and the coastal communities that bear the ocean's fury. But if harnessed effectively, waves and the energy they transmit may play a part in tackling the climate crisis.
The waves we see on the ocean's surface are mostly wind waves. Because wind pressure is never uniform, it creates tiny changes in the water's surface. As they move across the ocean's surface, these small changes interact and combine, first forming ripples, then longer and larger waves. Out on the open ocean, where powerful winds can blow on the water for hundreds or even thousands of kilometres without interruption, these eventually become the massive swells that crash onto shores in higher latitudes.
Waves can also be created by seismic events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The waves created by these events can be immense. Or the ocean itself can cause waves. The ocean is classified into distinct layers of different temperature and salinity, and just as waves form on the interface between the water and the air, the outflow of fresh water from rivers and glaciers or tidal forces can send waves rippling along the boundaries between these layers. Another is the gravity of the moon and sun that rolls around the planet, which create daily motion of the tides. These processes play an important part in ocean mixing, helping to transport denser, cooler water from the ocean's depths towards the surface and to transfer nutrients and carbon from the sunlit upper layers into deeper water.
While many scientists are concerned about the potential destruction and disruption of larger and more violent waves, others believe its role in tackling the climate crisis.

Laurie Joined the Busy Bee Society
Excerpt from Little Women
美国南北战争时期,一个普通家庭的四个姐妹的成长之路。
Laurie lay luxuriously① swinging② to and fro (来回地) in his hammock (吊床) one warm September afternoon, wondering what③ his neighbors were about, but too lazy to④ go and find out. He was in one of his moods, for the day had been both unprofitable (没好处的) and unsatisfactory, and he was wishing he could live it over again.
The hot weather made him lazy, and he had avoided his studies, tried Mr. Brooke's patience to the utmost⑤, displeased⑥ his grandfather by frightening the maid and after high words⑦ with the stableman (马夫) about neglect⑧ of his horse, he had thrown himself into his hammock to be angry about himself.
Then he heard the sound of voices. Peeping⑨ through the meshes (网) of the hammock, he saw the Marches⑩ coming out, as if on some expedition .
“What in the world are those girls about now?” thought Laurie, opening his sleepy eyes to take a good look, for there was something rather peculiar in the appearance of his neighbors. Each wore a large hat. Meg had a cushion , Jo a book, Beth a basket, and Amy a portfolio (画本). All walked quietly through the garden, out at the little back gate, and began to climb the hill that lay between the house and river.
“Well, that's cool,” said Laurie to himself, “to have a picnic and never ask me! I'll follow them, and see what's going on.”
Possessing of half a dozen hats, it took him some time to find one. Then there was a hunt for the key, which was at last discovered in his pocket. The girls were quite out of sight when he leaped the fence and ran after them.
Taking the shortest way to the boathouse, he first waited for them to appear, but no one came. Then he went up the hill to take an observation . Laurie peeped through the bushes, and spotted the sisters sat together, with sun and shadow flickering (闪烁) over them , the wind lifting their hair and cooling their hot cheeks.
Meg sat upon her cushion, sewing gracefully with her white hands, and looking as fresh and sweet as a rose in her pink dress among the green. Beth was sorting the pine cones (松果), for she made pretty things with them. Amy was sketching a group of ferns (蕨类), and Jo was knitting as she read aloud.
A shadow passed over the boy's face as he watched them, feeling that he ought to go away because uninvited , yet lingering because home seemed very lonely and this quiet party in the woods most attractive to his restless spirit. He stood so still that a squirrel (松鼠), busy with its harvesting (收获), ran down a pine close beside him.
But the squirrel saw him suddenly and skipped back. Beth looked up, found the face behind the trees, and signaled with a comforting smile.
“May I come in, please Or shall I be a bother?” he asked, advancing slowly.
Meg lifted her eyebrows , but Jo glared at him and said at once, “Of course you may. We should have asked you before, only we thought you wouldn't care for such a girl's game as this.”
“I always like your games, but if Meg doesn't want me, I'll go away.”
“I've no objection , if you do something. It's against the rules to be idle here,” replied Meg gravely but graciously (和蔼地).
“I'll do anything if you'll let me stay, for it's as dull as the Desert of Sahara (撒哈拉沙漠) down there.” Laurie sat down with a submissive expression.
“Finish this story while I set my heel ,” said Jo, handing him the book.
“Yes!” was the meek (温顺的) answer, as he began, doing his best to prove his gratitude for the favor of admission into the “Busy Bee Society”.
