The talented boy not only paints but also sells his artwork and donates the money. It all started when his parents bought him a set of painting tools for his 8th birthday. Once he had his own materials, he began spending much of his free time putting color on his canvas. As Arsh's paintings began to grow in number, he decided to give them as gifts to friends and family. Receiving a positive response from people around him, he soon realized his pieces had the potential to get much more than smiles and praise. His light bulb moment came shortly: he would sell his artwork and donate the money to charity. His first plan was to raise $1,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which he accomplished in around nine months by selling his paintings on social media and at local art shows. Since then, he's broadened his reach to benefit other organizations, including the childhood cancer nonprofit Compass to Care and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He's raised over $16,000 for charities so far.Arsh's artwork is often colorful and cheery, as one might expect from a youngster, but it showcases the impressive technique of a gifted artist. Some pieces are more abstract in nature; others feature realistic renditions (视觉形象) of flowers and animals. They range in size and complexity, and, accordingly, price. Small paintings might sell for $10 while larger canvases, up to five feet, have gone for $800.Last year, Arsh won The Diana Award, an honor presented by a UK charity founded on Princess Diana's belief that young people have the power to change their country. And the young artist has advice for other kids who want to make a difference. “Helping others doesn't have to be, like, money or anything. It can be your time, your skills, your talent,” he says, “and overall, just be kind to other people to make their day better.”【解题导语】 本文是一篇记叙文。 1.What made Arsh interested in painting?( )A.A birthday present from his parents.B.His parents' deep love for painting.C.The encouragement of others around him.D.His fascination with the beauty of nature. 根据第二段中的“It all started when his parents bought him a set of painting tools...putting color on his canvas.” √3456789102121112.Why did Arsh decide to sell his artwork?( )A.To pay for his painting materials.B.To get more attention from others.C.To attract children's interest in art.D.To help those people who are in need. 根据第三段中的“His light bulb moment came shortly: he would sell his artwork and donate the money to charity.” √3456789101211123.What can we learn about Arsh from the passage?( )A.His fundraising plan is going well.B.He will turn his attention to his studies.C.All his paintings sell at high prices now.D.He is going to teach other children to paint for free. 根据第三段中的“His first plan was to...over $16,000 for charities so far.” √4567891021211134.What does Arsh want to say in the last paragraph?( )A.Every child has a unique talent.B.Everyone has the ability to help others.C.Talent plays an important role in learning art.D.Helping others is the mission of young artists. 根据最后一段中阿尔什说的话“Helping others doesn't have to...your talent”可推知,阿尔什的意思是每个人都有帮助别人的能力。√356789102121114BAn American country music star has used artificial intelligence (AI) to make music again, years after suffering a stroke (中风).Randy Travis was a popular country music performer in the 1980s and 1990s and won several Grammy Awards during his career. But in 2013 he suffered a stroke, which made it hard for him to speak, not to mention making music and returning to the stage.Kyle Lehning, Travis' long-time music producer, said Where That Came From was a song that fit Travis' way of singing. When Travis was at the top of his career, he was known for a more traditional kind of country music. It was a contrast to the pop-country songs that were popular in the late 1980s.Lehning talked about the process of making the song. First, another singer recorded the song in what is known as a “demo (试样唱片)”. Then the AI system analysed the song and added Travis' voice to it. Then Lehning worked with Casey Wood, a recording engineer who knew Travis well, to get it perfect. The two music professionals made changes to the speed of some of the sounds. At last, a song “sung” by Travis was created.“I really wish somebody had been here with a camera,” Lehning said about the experience of watching the computer apply Travis' voice to the song.“And it was shocking to me, because how good it was!”The final version of the song is much different from the outcome when a computer programmer uses AI to create something without permission.“I seemed to be on the top of the world.” Mary Travis said about the chance to hear her husband's voice in a new song.“Owing to the advanced technology, I have the chance to listen to what I have been wanting.”She added that her husband had a thoughtful look on his face when he first heard the song.“I think he went through every emotion in those three minutes of just hearing his voice again,” Mary Travis said.【解题导语】 本文是一篇记叙文。 5.What can we learn about Randy Travis?( )A.His music featured a fast rhythm.B.He stopped his career after a stroke.C.He was once known for classical music.D.His music has been popular since the 1990s. 根据第二段中的“But in 2013 he suffered a stroke...returning to the stage.” √3467891021211156.What was the function of AI in making the music?( )A.Recording a demo of a singer.B.Analysing the voice of Randy Travis.C.Applying Randy Travis' voice to the song.D.Changing the speed of the recorded song.√345789102121116解析:推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Then the AI system analysed the song and added Travis' voice to it.”和第五段中的“Lehning said about the experience of watching the computer apply Travis' voice to the song.” 3457891021211167.What can be inferred from Mary Travis' words?( )A.The new music with her husband's voice excited her.B.The final version of the music was far from satisfying.C.Creating something without permission was annoying.D.The process of making the music was smooth and easy.√345689102121117解析:推理判断题。根据第六段中的“I seemed to be on the top of the world.”和“Owing to the advanced technology, I have the chance to listen to what I have been wanting.” 3456891021211178.Which is the best title of the passage?( )A.AI Improved a Music Star's Singing AbilityB.AI Has Made Great Advances in Making Music C.AI Connected Singers' Experiences with Music D.AI Helped a Music Star Without Speech Make Music解析:标题归纳题。 √345679102121118C(2025·合肥六校联盟期中)Using X-rays to peer into the chemical structure of a tiny speck (微粒) of the celebrated work of art Mona Lisa, scientists have gained new insight into the techniques that Leonardo da Vinci used to paint his groundbreaking portrait of the woman with the mysterious smile. The research, published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, suggests that the famously curious, learned and inventive Italian Renaissance master may have been in a particularly experimental mood when he set to work on Mona Lisa early in the 16th century. The oil-paint method Leonardo used as his base layer appears to have been different for Mona Lisa, with its own distinctive chemical signature, the team of scientists and art historians in France and Britain discovered. “He was someone who loved to experiment, and each of his paintings is completely different technically,” said Victor Gonzalez, the study's lead author and a chemist at France's top research body, the CNRS. Gonzalez has studied the chemical composition of dozens of works by Leonardo, Rembrandt and other artists.Specifically, the researchers found a rare compound, plumbonacrite (水白铅矿) in Leonardo's first layer of paint. The discovery confirmed for the first time what art historians had previously only assumed: Leonardo most likely used lead oxide powder to thicken and help dry his paint as he began working on the portrait. Plumbonacrite is a byproduct of lead oxide, allowing the researchers to say with more certainty that Leonardo likely used the powder in his paint recipe. “Plumbonacrite is really a fingerprint of his recipe,” Gonzalez said. “It's the first time we have confirmed it chemically.”After Leonardo, Dutch master Rembrandt may have used a similar recipe when he was painting in the 17th century. “It also tells us that those recipes were passed down for centuries,” Gonzalez said. “It was a very good recipe.” But Mona Lisa and other works by Leonardo still have other secrets to tell. “There are plenty, plenty more things to discover, for sure. We are barely scratching the surface,” Gonzalez said. “What we are saying is just a small piece of the knowledge.”【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。 9.What kind of person was Leonardo da Vinci according to the new findings?( )A.Adventurous and creative. But as technology rapidly advances, there's a growing debate over whether AI-generated art should be respected just as highly. Just on November 7, a portrait of mathematician Alan Turing became the first artwork created by a humanoid robot to be sold at auction (拍卖) , getting $1.08 million at Sotheby's, New York. The portrait of Turing, titled A.I. God, was created by Ai-Da, an AI-powered robot introduced in 2019 by British art specialist Aidan Meller. Ai-Da, named after Ada Lovelace who was thought to be the world's first computer programmer, is regarded as “the-first-ultra-realistic humanoid AI robot artist”. The work honors Alan Turing, the pioneering mathematician whose work laid the foundation for modern computing and artificial intelligence.Although A.I. God was first expected to get up to $180,000, a series of 27 bids (投标) drove the price over $1 million. Sotheby's said in a statement, “Today's record-breaking sale price marks a moment in the history of modern and contemporary art and reflects the growing communication between AI technology and the global art market.”The robot Ai-Da first came up with the idea to create A.I. God during a discussion about “AI for good” with others in her studio. She then decided on the style, color, and tone of the portrait. Then she used the cameras in her eyes to process an image of Alan Turing as a reference. With her robotic hand, Ai-Da then painted on a small canvas, and the completed image was later enlarged using a printer.A.I. God was exhibited in 2024 at the UN during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva. Alongside her portrait of Turing, the exhibition included a self-portrait of Ai-Da herself and a painting of Ada Lovelace. Ai-Da, who uses AI to speak, said her art “invites viewers to think about the God-like nature of AI while considering the ethical (道德的) and social influence of these advances.”【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。 √3456789102121111.What can be learned from paragraph 2?( )A.The title of the portrait is “Alan Turing”.B.Ai-Da is considered as an AI robot artist.C.Alan Turing is the first computer programmer.D.Ai-Da is named after her creator Aidan Meller. 根据第二段中的“Ai-Da, named after Ada Lovelace...is regarded as ‘the-first-ultra-realistic humanoid AI robot artist’.” 2.What is special about the portrait?( )A.It has made history in art.B.It is the first artwork created by AI.C.It is thought highly of by the public.D.It is sold at a price lower than expected. 根据第三段中的“Sotheby's said in a statement, ‘Today's record-breaking...between AI technology and the global art market.’” √3456789101211123.How did Ai-Da create the portrait?( )A.Ai-Da created the painting on the computer.B.Ai-Da enlarged the portrait with her robotic hand.C.Ai-Da used an image of Alan Turing for reference.D.Ai-Da used cameras to take a photo of Alan Turing. 根据倒数第二段中的“Then she used the cameras in her eyes to process an image of Alan Turing as a reference.” √4567891021211134.What is the best title for the passage?( )A.The Portrait of Alan Turing Caught Public AttentionB.How Was a Portrait of Alan Turing Created by Ai-DaC.Should Artworks Created by AI Be Respected as HighlyD.An AI-created Portrait Gained a High Price at an Auction√356789102121114解析:标题归纳题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“Just on November 7, a portrait of mathematician Alan Turing...getting $1.08 million at Sotheby's, New York.” 356789102121114BAt the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, among mountain songs and ethnic costumes and special ceremonies, I am noticeable despite my modern dress, as my green “VOLUNTEER” nametag brands me as a perfect target for curious tourists.I have volunteered to learn about global customs; my knowledge of my native culture is limited. The rubbing, the tracing (描摹) of characters onto a piece of paper, reached its golden age during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).To do this, a thin piece of paper was placed over the surface of the stone tablet (石匾) carved with characters. Then water, or later, ink, was applied smoothly to the back of the paper with just the right amount of pressure, to soften the paper and allow the details to move onto it. The paper was left to dry and then be lifted off the stone surface, carrying with it a copy of the original (原作).Repeated hundreds of thousands of times during the Song era, this hands-on skill enabled educated members of Song society to have a chance to learn from masters' calligraphic works either from their own times or from earlier dynasties. Oftentimes, the original calligraphy, or even its stone version, became lost over time, thus making the rubbings the only surviving copy of the masterworks that had once existed. In that sense, the Song rubbings, and those behind them have helped to preserve a cultural relic much valued then and now. Now, art lovers have the chance to visit it at an exhibition held at Beijing's Palace Museum on the theme of the Song rubbings. It was clear that she needed help badly. A poorly dressed man went near her car. He was hesitating to speak to her but still approached. The lady pulled down the glass of the driver's seat. She looked worried. She tried to wear a smile seeing a needy man approaching her.The man opened his mouth, “Hello Ma'am, can I help you?” The lady looked puzzled and said, “Yes.” “Please wait inside your car and let me see if I can solve the problem. By the way, I am Thomas Anderson,” Thomas said. Thomas discovered that she got a flat tire. Soon he went to fix the problem. After he finished, the lady began to talk to him.She said, “I really don't have enough words to thank you. How much should I pay you?” She was actually ready to reward him for his kindness. Thomas was surprised. He had never expected any reward from her, though his family needed money badly, for their baby was going to be born the very next month. He told her, “That's so nice of you, Ma'am. But if you really want to pay me back, the next time you see someone who needs help, please think of me and help that person. I hope this chain of love will not end with you.” He smiled and went away before the lady could further say anything. The lady was so touched. Anyone who saw the ragged man would think how much he needed help. But he just told her something that she never thought of.On her way, she found a small café down the road. She wanted to have a cup of warm coffee. As the lady went inside, a waitress came up to her with a very clean towel so that she could wipe her hair. Housed in an old railway building, this world-famous art museum features some of the best-known paintings from the Impressionist movement of the 19th century. As I wandered through the Impressionist gallery, I appreciated masterpieces like The Ballet Class and The Card Players. Even though I had admired them hundreds of times on my computer screen, nothing could have prepared me for the wonder I felt when I finally laid eyes on the real thing. While it was hard to pick a favourite painting out of so many amazing works, the artists who made the deepest impression on me were two of the greatest Impressionist painters, Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.I could see from Monet's works that he was greatly inspired by nature. In the last three decades of his life he painted mostly scenes from his garden. One of these scenes is shown in the famous piece Blue Water Lilies, which I studied for quite a while in the gallery. I couldn't believe it when I heard he did around 250 paintings of the same water lily pond, all in different colours and styles. It is amazing that every time Monet studied this simple scene, he brought the pond's beauty to the canvas in a unique way.Renoir, I noticed, preferred to paint scenes of everyday life. For me, the most interesting of his paintings is his 1876 masterpiece Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette, which shows life in a busy neighbourhood of Paris on a Sunday afternoon. When I saw it up close, I was struck by the small areas of light across the painting, and the way the soft edges of the figures seemed to mix together. There's so much going on, but so little clear detail. This effect makes the lively movement of the dance almost jump out at the viewer.1.Where is the Musée d'Orsay housed?( )A.In an old railway building.B.In an old school building.C.In an old library building.D.In an old factory building.3421√2.Which of the following paintings did the author study for quite a while in the gallery?( )A.The Ballet Class.B.The Card Players.C.Blue Water Lilies.D.Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette.3412√3.What did Renoir prefer to paint?( )A.Scenes of nature.B.Scenes of everyday life.C.Scenes of history.D.Scenes of fantasy.4213√4.What can we infer from the passage?( )A.The author didn't like Monet's paintings.B.The author was not impressed by Renoir's works.C.The author had visited the Musée d'Orsay many times before.D.The author had a deep understanding of Impressionist paintings.3214√[过能力 综合提升]Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2025·龙岩高一期末)In an amusing atmosphere at a historical palace in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood of the Egyptian capital Cairo, a large audience of different ages interacted lively during an Aragoz show, the traditional Egyptian hand puppet (木偶) performance. The three-day event was meant to shed light on Aragoz as a unique art performance, give people a chance to see the beauty of puppet shows, and save the art that faces the danger of extinction.Aragoz is a classic form of Egyptian theater art using traditional hand puppetry.During the performances, puppeteers remain hidden inside a small portable (便携式的) stage while an assistant interacts with the puppets and the crowd.Aragoz takes its name from the main puppet, whose unique voice is created with a voice modifier (修改器). Performers and the audience interact throughout the show, which creates a comic and entertaining atmosphere, and practitioners must be skilled in controlling the puppets. The art used to be presented by traveling performers, who moved from one folk celebration to another. However, as these performances began to decline (衰退), performers and their assistants settled permanently (永久地) in fixed places. The number of surviving practitioners has decreased, while many of those who once put on stories have now disappeared. Many people see the need to protect the Aragoz show, explaining that it is not only an important traditional cultural heritage in the country, but also serves to entertain the public, especially the children.“The audiences were enjoying our shows. Many of them only saw Aragoz on TV and in movies, while those who saw live Aragoz performances recalled childhood memories,” said Bahgat, a professor of theater at Helwan University.“We are now in the era of technology and direct communication has become limited, so I think that we have an opportunity to spread this art again because virtual social media could not make up for the human need to watch such live shows,” he stressed.【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。 1.Why does the author refer to the three-day performance?( )A.To tell a story.B.To introduce the topic.C.To highlight an opinion.D.To explain an argument. √345678212.What can we learn about the puppeteers?( )A.They create the puppet's unique voice.B.They interact directly with the audience.C.They perform without being observed by the audience.D.They must be skilled in interacting throughout the show. 根据第二段中的“During the performances...with the puppets and the crowd.” √345678123.What made Aragoz performers settle down?( )A.The disappearance of many performers.B.The decline in popularity of the performances.C.The need to preserve the traditional cultural heritage.D.An increase in the number of surviving practitioners. 根据第三段中的“However, as these performances began to decline...in fixed places.” √456782134.What is Bahgat's attitude to the future of live Aragoz performances?( )A.Optimistic. But here's something parents can use to give their kids a reason to try: A study has found that playing a musical instrument may lead to better brain health in later life. That might not be enough to encourage a child who has better things to do, but it's good news for those who enjoy music.Researchers from the UK looked at data from an online survey of more than 1,000 people over the age of 40 who had been asked to talk about their musical experiences and exposure to music during their lives. They were also given tasks that tested their memory and skills in things like planning and focusing. The study found that playing a musical instrument, especially the piano, was connected with better memory and thinking skills. And continuing to play an instrument into later life was found to have an even more salutary effect. Singing was related to better brain health in older age too. The research team suggested that the social factors that came with singing in a singing group may also have had an effect. One of the researchers, Anne Corbett, who is a professor of dementia (失智症) research at the University of Exeter, said that encouraging older adults to return to music later in life could be a useful public health strategy. She said, “There is much evidence for the benefit of music group activities for individuals with dementia.” And she suggested that such activities could be used to reduce the risk of developing dementia.Of those who took part in the survey, 89% said they had played a musical instrument at some time in their lives, and about half still played one. Around seven out of ten said they had taken part in group singing.【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。 5.Which is a benefit children learning musical instruments can get according to the passage?( )A.Becoming famous.B.Getting courage to try new things.C.Obtaining the ability to do things well.D.Having better brain health in later life. 根据第一段中的“A study has found...lead to better brain health in later life.” √346782156.What does the underlined word “salutary” in paragraph 3 mean?( )A.Typical. Beethoven, who was almost completely deaf at this point in his life, was unaware of theaudience's response until one of the singers turned him around to face the crowd. Before him, he saw a sea of people all standing, clapping, and waving their hats and handkerchiefs to express their appreciation of his masterwork.Symphony No. 9 was Beethoven's last major piece of music in a vast body of works written throughout his remarkable life. As a gifted child, Beethoven was pushed by his father to study music day and night. Not long after, he began to be appreciated for his piano performances. By the time he was a teenager, he had already enjoyed a reputation as a wonderful young musician. Many important figures in the music world, including the brilliant musician Mozart, started making predictions about Beethoven's extraordinary future. However, life took a sharp turn. In his late twenties, Beethoven suffered one of the worst possible twists for a musician: he started to lose his hearing. The loss of his hearing deeply depressed Beethoven. He was so upset that, at first, he wanted to keep it a secret. In a letter to his brothers, he wrote, “...how could I possibly admit a weakness in the one sense which should be more perfect in me than in others, a sense which I once possessed in the greatest perfection...”Even in his darkest moments, however, Beethoven never abandoned hope. Despite his hearing loss, he was determined to find a way to continue living a life full of music. He used a variety of hearing aids to try to increase theamount of sound he could take in. When composing music at the piano, he would put one end of a pencil in his mouth and place the other end against the instrument so that he could feel the notes. Although Beethoven was able to continue composing music, it became increasingly difficult for him to perform in public. But after a long struggle, I found a hobby that changed my life.My depression really kicked in after my parents moved to the UK when I was about 11 years old. Having to adjust to life in a foreign country was very difficult. The friends I knew were gone, and the changes in my environment led to my depression. I had problems in many parts of my life, which made it impossible for me to carry on.At that time, I didn't understand that depression was an illness. I remember a particular day when I couldn't find enough strength to get myself home from playing in the park—it felt like I was carrying the world on my shoulders.Other times, I just felt so trapped. I never really reached out for help, as I felt that there wasn't anyone who could help me out. What turned my life around, however, was my discovery of street dancing. I was introduced to it by a friend, and I started taking classes at a studio in London. After a few weeks, I began to go out and meet a lot of other dancers to practice and train with them on a regular basis. It gave me a purpose, and eventually the happiness I gained from it helped me manage my depression. The dancing helped me get my life back, focus on my studies, and get through university. My advice to anyone who might be going through something like I was is to reach out for help. The thing about life is that it changes, and you never know what might come your way. If someone had said to me during those dark moments that I would go on to achieve the things I have, I wouldn't have ever believed it.Just take each day as it comes, and remember that there's always someone, or something, out there to help you.【解题导语】 本文是一篇记叙文。 1.How did the author deal with his depression at first?( )A.He turned to his old friends for help.B.He talked about it with his parents.C.He put up with it by himself.D.He read many articles about it. 根据第四段中的“I never really reached out for help...help me out.” √345678212.How did street dancing benefit the author?( )A.It helped him find a good job.B.It taught him how to control his emotions perfectly.C.It let him find many true friends.D.It cheered him up and made him feel positive. 根据第五段中的“It gave me a purpose...get through university.” √345678123.What does the author advise people to do when they feel down?( )A.Always be confident about themselves.B.Find someone or something to rescue them.C.Wait for help to come patiently.D.Accept everything that life throws at them.√45678213解析:细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中的“My advice to anyone who might be going through something like I was is to reach out for help.” 456782134.What could the author think of his future?( )A.Hopeful. You may not know exactly where you are, what bird is making that strange sound, or what the hill ahead of you is called, but that's part of the fun of it. You don't need to know these things to feel the beauty of nature.Of course, if you do know your birds, trees and local history, a walk can be more attractive. Yet such knowledge comes slowly. It is picked up through experience. A true knowledge of nature cannot just be given to you through an app on your phone. Imagine pointing your phone at the hill and getting plenty of information on screen. Would that enrich your dreamy walk or ruin it Braggarts enjoy an app that allows them to show off their knowledge, for example, about baroque (巴洛克风格的) paintings. In fact, apps in museums try to provide on-screen art history at once just to encourage people to read their phones instead of looking at paintings. It is a mistaken idea that you need to be spoon-fed (灌输) amazing facts about a work of art in order to appreciate it. Our first experience of a work of art should be raw (自然状态的), unguided, and a bit puzzling, like following a path in the woods. Later, you might choose to do some personal research into the work. It can further increase your enjoyment and appreciation for it. Yet it is best done when you're away from the art itself, so that even when you return, the work still feels fresh.Anyone who thinks knowing some dates and details makes you better understand a work of art is wrong. We all need to put aside our screens and our supposed knowledge when we look at art. Let the paintings flow in;let your intuitions (直觉) fly off. Art is a journey in the wilderness or it is nothing at all.【解题导语】 本文是一篇说明文。 5.What does the underlined word “Braggarts” in paragraph 3 refer to?( )A.People who like showing off.B.People who like baroque paintings.C.Those who are good at appreciating art.D.Those who are good at painting with phones. 根据第三段中的“enjoy an app that allows them to show off their knowledge”可知, Braggarts喜欢一款能让他们炫耀自己知识的应用, 故画线词意为“喜欢炫耀的人”。√346782156.What's the main idea of paragraph 4?( )A.How to appreciate a work of art.B.How to do personal research into a work of art.C.How to keep your feelings about a work of art fresh.D.How to be spoon-fed amazing facts about a work of art. 根据第四段中的“Our first experience...your enjoyment and appreciation for it.” √345782167.What can we infer from the passage?( )A.Because of apps, art will be ruined in the future.B.A good piece of art is usually made about nature.C.Research work and intuitions can both help understand art.D.Museums are not supposed to allow the use of mobile phones. 根据第四段中的“Later, you might choose to do some personal research...appreciation for it.”以及最后一段中的“Let the paintings flow in;let your intuitions fly off.” √345682178.What does the author mainly want to say?( )A.Art is best with the help of apps.B.Art is best when hidden in mystery.C.Art is nothing compared with nature.D.Art is nothing when details and facts are known. √34567218Ⅱ.七选五(2025·哈尔滨六中期中)For people who are planning a trip, a visit to a museum might not be the first thing they think of.
