Have you ever tasted Shuang Pi Nai It’s a classic Cantonese (广东的) dessert. Its name means “double-skin milk”, and making it is like doing a fun science experiment! It mixes cooking with science in a tasty way. What you need: ☆ 500ml fresh whole milk (use milk with enough fat) ☆ 3 egg whites ☆ 30g white sugar ☆ A bowl that can stand heat ☆ A pot with a cover Steps to make it: ◆Heat the milk in the pot until you see small bubbles (气泡). Do you want to stay young longer A new study has good news for you: vitamin D might help slow down aging (变老). Scientists found that vitamin D may be good for telomeres, which are like the “protective caps” at the end of our DNA. They get shorter as we grow older, and when they become too short, they may bring health problems such as cancer.
To find out this result, scientists followed more than 1,000 adults for five years. Some of them took 2,000 units of vitamin D every day, while others took a placebo—a pill doesn’t work at all. During the study, scientists checked their telomere length three times: at the beginning, after two years and after four years.
The study results showed that vitamin D may helped slow the shortening of telomeres. This may mean vitamin D makes our biological aging slower. Besides, vitamin D has many other strengths—it helps keep our body strong, lowers blood pressure, and reduces the risk of heart disease. But remember that too much vitamin D is harmful to our health.
__▲__ There are three simple ways: spending some time in the sun, taking vitamin D pills, or eating certain foods, such as fatty fish and eggs. Doctors suggest that you’d better check your vitamin D level first, because for healthy people with normal vitamin D levels, extra pills are not helpful. After all, good sleep, enough exercise and a healthy diet are still the best ways to stay young and healthy.
56. What may happen when telomeres become too short
A. People may grow stronger. B. People may have health problems.
C. They may protect people’s DNA well. D They may help slow down aging quickly.

A. By giving ways to keep healthy. B. By telling stories about old people.
C. By showing the results of the study. D. By explaining how the study was done.

A. Rules. B. Dangers. C. Benefits. D. Interests.
59. Which sentence can be put in the “__▲__” in Paragraph 4

Have you noticed more students wearing volunteer uniforms at school In Guangdong, over 60% of middle schools now have volunteer clubs, and studies show that students who volunteer at least once a month are happier and more confident. Volunteering is not just about being helpful—it’s a fun way to learn by doing. Imagine turning a messy bookshelf into a well-organized one as a library helper, or guiding a new student around the school like a friendly guide. These are not only small acts of kindness, but also real-life practice. According to a survey, most of the students enjoy doing volunteering because they have improved their communication skills and made more friends through these activities. Why does volunteering bring so many positive changes Mr. Robot, a research psychologist (心理学家) says helping others releases (释放) “feel-good” chemicals in our brains, which makes us happier and less stressed. Also, by working as a team—whether cleaning the school garden or preparing for a class activity—students learn cooperation and responsibility in a natural way. These skills are like superpowers for future study and life. Schools in Guangdong are now encouraging volunteering in creative ways, such as holding volunteer story-sharing meetings and posting interesting photos of volunteer work. This makes giving back not only meaningful, but also enjoyable. In short, volunteering is a win-win activity: it helps others, brings warmth to the school, and helps every young volunteer grow into a better self.

书面表达
One possible version:
Dear Editor,
I’d like to share my volunteer experience with you. Last month, I joined a volunteer activity in a village school with my classmates. It is so meaningful that I will never forget.
We helped take care of the left-behind students in our school. We played games with them, helped them with their schoolwork, and shared interesting stories with them. We also prepared small gifts for them to make them feel warm.
Through this activity, I learned that giving love to others can bring great happiness. I felt proud to help those in need. I hope I can take part in more volunteer work in the future to spread warmth to more people.
Yours,
Li Ming
