Meat, milk and cheese are just some of the things provided by goats. Now, we can also count fire safety on this list. Wildfires hurt a lot of places on Earth every year, and goatherds (牧羊人) might help us lower the chance of this happening.
Wildfires are made possible by hot, dry weather conditions as well as dead plants that can be fuel (燃料). We may not be able to control the first factor, but we can control the second. Reducing the amount of fuel can lower the possibility of wildfires happening. This is where we can turn to goats to provide a solution. Goats are being used for grassland management in a number of places around the world, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, Chile and parts of the United States.
Goats have a very strong digestive system (消化系统). Many kinds of plants that are toxic (有毒的) to other animals can be easily eaten by goats. Besides, they are skilled mountain climbers and when standing on their back legs, they can reach up to two meters to eat plants that humans can hardly reach.
Because of this, using goats can reduce both the possibility of workplace accidents and the amount of money spent on fire protection. Cost and safety aren’t the only benefits. Goats are quieter than machines and people usually prefer to see goats walking rather than lots of herbicide (除草剂) being sprayed on the land. Children are often fascinated to see the goats at work and this provides an opportunity to educate people about preventing wildfires.
56. The phrase "grassland management" in paragraph 2 refers to_____________.
A. Planting new grass fields B. Controlling and maintaining grassland areas
C. Building fences around grasslands D. Studying grass growth patterns
57.Which ability of goats makes them particularly useful for wildfire prevention
A. They can produce milk and cheese B. They can predict weather changes
C. They can digest poisonous plants D. They can carry heavy equipment
58. What can we infer about traditional wildfire prevention methods compared to using goats
A. They are more expensive and dangerous B. They are more educational for children
C. They work faster but less effectively D. They are preferred by local communities
59. All of the following are advantages of using goats EXCEPT_________________.
A. Reducing workplace accidents B. Lowering fire protection costs
C. Creating educational opportunities D. Providing entertainment for tourists
60. The primary purpose of this article is to_______________.
A. Describe different goat breeds worldwide
B. Explain how goats can help solve wildfire problems
C. Compare goats with other farm animals
D. Discuss the nutritional value of goat products

Li Ziqi is a popular short video creator who usually posts videos to show rural life and Chinese culture. After more than three years away, she made a surprising comeback on November 12th. She posted a new video on social media showing how she made wardrobe (衣柜) doors using traditional Chinese lacquerware (漆器) techniques, an important cultural heritage. People from all over the world were excited about her return and amazed by the complexity (复杂性) of the lacquerware, which requires great skill and patience.
In the video, Li climbs trees around 20 meters tall to collect the lacquer sap (漆液) herself. This process is quite dangerous because of both the height and the harmful sap. Lacquer sap is collected from lacquer trees by making small cuts in the bark (树皮), called “lacquer mouths”. The sap flows slowly and is carefully collected, cleaned, and stirred (搅拌) before being ready for use in lacquer art. As she showed in the video, the lacquer must be mixed with water.
★ First, several coats of lacquer are put onto a surface, with each coat drying before the next is added. Once enough coats are applied, the surface is polished to a smooth finish. Next, artists carve (雕刻) complex designs on the surface with small tools, creating raised patterns. After carving, the piece is sanded, polished, and wiped to give it a shiny surface. Li’s work is even more complex than usual because she rubbed the items with oil and used ink-rubbing techniques to make the patterns clear, making the process take more time and effort.
Although modern techniques have appeared, traditional lacquerware methods should not be forgotten. With video creators like Li Ziqi, the beauty of the traditional Chinese lacquerware has been seen, praised and respected by more and more people all over the world.
61. What are “lacquer mouths”
A. Small cuts made in the bark of lacquer trees to collect sap.
B. Special containers used to store lacquer sap.
C. Traditional tools for carving designs on lacquerware.
D. The final polished surface of a lacquerware piece.
62. According to the passage, why is collecting lacquer sap dangerous
A. Because the sap is colorful and attracts wild animals.
B. Because the weather conditions are always bad.
C. Because the process requires expensive tools.
D. Because the trees are very tall and the sap is harmful.
63. Which sentence can be put in ★
A. Before starting the process, artists must first sketch their designs on paper to ensure accuracy.
B. Creating lacquerware is a careful process.
C. The lacquerware tradition dates back over 3,000 years in Chinese history.
D. Putting coats of lacquer onto a surface is hard.
64. What is the correct order of making traditional lacquerware according to the passage
a. Carve designs on the surface. b. Apply several coats of lacquer.
c. Polish the surface to make it smooth. d. Collect and prepare the lacquer sap.
A. d→b→c→a
B. b→a→d→c
C. a→b→d→c
