Once, my grandparents, Edna and John, found a wallet in the park. "There are two passports in it," my grandpa said to my grandma. Although they were in a hurry to get to a concert, they understood how people would feel if they lost their passports. So they sat down and waited to see if the owners came back. Sure enough, about twenty minutes later, they saw two tourists searching in the park. They were the people in the passport photos! The tourists were so happy to get their passports back. They asked for my grandparents' address and sent them postcards when they travelled!

Police officer Jack Collins didn't like dogs. He said he was afraid of them because one bit him when he was a child. However, when he found a homeless dog one day, he thought he couldn't leave it on the street. He took it to the vet, and the vet helped the dog for free. The dog got better and Jack named her Leia. He took her to work with him and everyone liked her so much. Now, Leia stays at the police station. She always wags her tail to welcome every visitor. She's a member of the team now!

Robert was running a 3,000-metre race and he was winning. However, about 50 metres away from the finishing line, he fell and hurt his foot. He struggled to get up, but he couldn't run. He started walking towards the finishing line and Daniel soon caught up with him. It was easy for Daniel to run past him and win the race, but Daniel decided not to. He slowed down and walked behind Robert. They crossed the finishing line with Robert in first place and Daniel in second. Daniel said later that he didn't want to win that way. Robert tried to give his medal to Daniel. However, Daniel refused. He said that Robert's act of offering the prize was worth more than what he did for Robert.

一般现在时 一般过去时 am/is/are → was/were
现在进行时 过去进行时 am/is/are doing → was/were doing
一般将来时 过去将来时 will do → would do
现在完成时 过去完成时 have/has done → had done
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Grammar Discovery
He said, "I like it."
变后:He said (that) he liked it.
She said to me, "You are right."
变后:She told me (that) I was right.
直接引语中的 he, she, it, they 保持不变。
原句:Tom said, "She is late."
变后:Tom said (that) she was late.

(Demonstrative Pronouns)
(Indirect)
this (这个) that (那个)
these (这些) those (那些)
(Adverbs)
(Indirect)
now (现在) then (那时)
today (今天) that day (那天)
tomorrow (明天) the next day (第二天)
yesterday (昨天) the day before (前一天)
ago (以前) before (之前)
here (这里) there (那里)
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Grammar Discovery

Choosing between homework and a party
Last month, I faced a hard choice. My best friend invited me to her birthday party on Friday evening, but I had a lot of English homework to finish.I really wanted to go to the party, but I knew studying was more important. I called her and explained the situation. Then I stayed at home to finish my homework.I think I made a good choice. I got a good grade in the test, and my friend understood me. The principle I follow is to put study first.
