At first, many students and parents thought the drills were boring and useless. But Principal Ye never gave up. He kept practicing and improved the escape rules every time. Students learned to bend down, cover heads, walk in order and follow the right route.
In the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, many buildings fell down. But in Sangzao Middle School, more than 2300 teachers and students escaped safely in 98 seconds. No one was hurt at all. The usual and strict earthquake drills saved everyone’s life.

B篇
Typhoons are strong storms with heavy rain and strong winds. They usually come from May to September in China. Before a typhoon comes, the sky turns dark and the wind gets stronger. The weather report will tell people to prepare.
When a typhoon is coming, you should stay indoors. Close all the windows and doors, and move furniture away from the windows. If you live near the sea, move to a higher place before the typhoon arrives. Do not go outside, even if the wind seems weak. There may be big waves or falling trees.
If you are outside when a typhoon hits, find a strong building to hide in. Do not stay under trees or near power lines. Keep away from flood water. It may be deep and carry dangerous things.
Typhoons can be dangerous, but if you know what to do, you can stay safe.
