For many, travel isn’t just about the destination — it’s about making the most of the journey. However, for a lot of people, the journey is often ruined by an uncomfortable experience often accompanied by vomiting, known as motion sickness. If you’ve ever felt the unwelcome urge to vomit while reading or using your device in a moving vehicle, you’re not alone. Recognizing this common issue, a company has stepped up to offer a revolutionary solution: the Vehicle Motion Cues feature.
Motion sickness occurs when there is a disconnection between what your eyes see and what your body feels. When you’re in a moving vehicle, your body senses motion through its vestibular system (the inner ear), but if your eyes are focused on a still screen that doesn’t reflect this movement, the brain receives mixed signals. This sensory conflict can lead to dizziness, nausea, and overall discomfort — symptoms all too familiar to motion sickness sufferers.
The new Vehicle Motion Cues feature is designed to bridge this gap and bring relief to those likely to experience motion sickness. This revolutionary feature works by displaying animated dots, around the edges of your screen, which move at the same time and speed as the motion of your vehicle. These moving cues help keep the motion your body feels in line with what your eyes see, effectively reducing the sensory mismatch that causes motion sickness.
The magic lies in the simplicity and effectiveness. The animated dots move in consistency with the vehicle’s motion, providing a visual representation of the movement your body is experiencing. By matching the visual input with the physical sensations of motion, your brain is less likely to experience the confusion that leads to sickness.
Early reports and user feedback indicate that Vehicle Motion Cues is receiving high praise for its effectiveness. So next time you embark on a journey, whether short or long, remember that the company has got your back — or rather, your brain — helping you make the most of every mile with ease and comfort.
24.Which type of people can be interested in Vehicle Motion Cues
A.Frequent travelers. B.Book lovers. C.Vehicle operators. D.Sport scientists.
25.What is paragraph 2 mainly about
A.The principle of the new design. B.The cause of motion sickness.
C.The functions of the new design. D.The symptoms of motion sickness.
26.By displaying animated dots around the screen, Vehicle Motion Cues is able to ________.
A.ease sensory conflicts in the brain B.tell the mismatched physical sensations
C.balance the movement of our eyes and body D.increase the effectiveness of vehicle motion
27.Which can be the best title of the passage
A.Make the Most of Your Journey: A Company Bridges the Gap
B.Find the Magic of a Moving Vehicle: A Company’s Got Your Back
C.Enjoy Your Reading: A Company Offers a Revolutionary Solution

Scientists have taken to the salon (美发厅) after realising hairdressers may be an “under-recognised” force in fueling climate action. Alongside their craft, hairdressers are known for their conversation skills, who often act as an agony aunt, adviser and friend rolled into one. New research from the University of Bath’s Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST) reveals this is what makes hair salons centers of trust that could be used to encourage conversations around climate change.
The research team interviewed 30 UK salon owners about sustainability, and then ran a nationwide intervention in 25 sustainable salons using Mirror Talkers, where eco-tips are placed on salon mirrors to engender discussions on sustainable haircare practices.
“The carbon footprint of shampoo (洗发水) is mostly in the hot water used,” says Denise Baden of the University of Southampton. “Simple messages like ‘most of us use too much shampoo and shampoo too often’ can spark conversations about how shampooing less and at lower temperatures saves time, money, energy, water and is better for your skin and hair.”
The study found nearly 73% of salon clients were likely to change their haircare routines after conversations sparked by the Mirror Talkers, some even switching to eco-friendly products, using cooler water, and adopting greener habits at home.
Researchers say this demonstrates how hairdressers have an “untapped ability” to weave climate change into everyday conversations and actions. They are now urging policymakers to roll out tools like Mirror Talkers nationally. “If we’re serious about building a public movement for climate action, then it’s time to invest in these unsung influencers because real change starts in everyday conversations,” says Dr Sam Hampton of CAST.
Matilda Collins, a senior director and stylist, says the Mirror Talkers initiative could gain positive outcomes if the experience “feels natural and engages clients without being overly virtuous”. She adds, “Ultimately, the trust a stylist builds with the client is what will drive potential positive changes in behaviour. It could be a great education platform and a conversation starter, however.”
28.What does the underlined word “engender” in paragraph 2 mean
A.Stimulate. B.Maintain. C.Simplify. D.Control.
29.What is the focus of the third paragraph
A.The importance of saving water. B.The harm of overusing shampoo.
C.The function of eco-tips in salons. D.The strategy of starting conversations.
30.What can we infer from Dr Sam Hampton’s words
A.Sound policies encourage investment.
B.Daily conversations can make a difference.
C.Unsung influencers need professional training.
D.Mirror Talkers has gained nationwide popularity.
31.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text
A.Salons: Overlooked Centers to Build Trust
B.Haircare: A Hidden Source of Carbon Footprint
C.Mirror Talkers: A Platform to Show Fashion Trends
D.Hairdressers: Secret Weapons Against Climate Change

In the era of the internet, AI, smart homes and autonomous cars, there’s one thing we just can’t stop producing data. We are expected to generate 394 trillion zettabytes of the stuff every year by 2028, according to the analyst company IDC. Every time we watch a YouTube video, send an email, or ask an AI chatbot a question — data is created. Although data seems invisible, it is processed and housed in physical places — data centers, for which demand is now proving unsatisfiable.
The problem of storing this rapidly growing data has inspired novel solutions. One such approach is “memory crystals,” developed by Peter Kazansky, a researcher from Kyoto University. By burning tiny perforations into the glass, data can be encoded in five dimensions, using differences in light orientation, strength, and spatial position (individual 3D pixels with x, y, z coordinates). This method allows for extremely high density, with up to 360 TB stored on a 5-inch glass disk.
Another promising solution is DNA storage, first proposed by Soviet physicist Mikhail Samoilovich Neiman. In this method, digital data is mapped onto DNA’s four bases (A, T, C, and G), represented as 01, 00, 11, and 10, creating a physical form of data. A favorite line among DNA data storage researchers is that “you could store all of the data in the world in a teaspoon.” But its practical application still faces hurdles, especially in terms of cost and data access efficiency.
Heinis, a professor in data management at Imperial College London, says: “Kazansky’s ‘memory crystals’ is a direct competitor to DNA storage. But DNA might have an edge for we will always be able to read DNA, due to its wide-ranging medical applications. With other technologies, like ‘memory crystals’, the question is how long the read device will be around.”
Of course, solving the long-term data storage problem is an important part of the solution to energy-guzzling data centers. But do we really need all the data that we produce
32.What problem does the author point out in paragraph 1
A.The rapid growth of global data production.
B.The rising demand for automated equipment.
C.The efficiency of data-processing technologies.
D.The challenge of storing the ever-growing data.
33.What gives memory crystals their high data density
A.Heat-resistant glass. B.Computer-controlled drilling.
C.High-intensity light. D.Multi-dimensional encoding.
34.What can be inferred from Heinis’s words
A.DNA storage has stronger reliability.
B.DNA storage keeps larger data storage capacity.
C.DNA storage owns a wider range of application.
D.DNA storage will soon replace memory crystals.
35.What does the author suggest in the last paragraph
A.Reduce data center noise. B.Cut data centers’ energy use.
C.Stop over-storage of data. D.Upgrade storage technology.

For high school students, free time is a precious gift that should be cherished. 36 Many students fall into aimless scrolling through social media or end up feeling bored and unfulfilled. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can turn these spare moments into meaningful and rewarding time — one that enriches our lives, promotes personal growth, and brings us joy, not just keeps us busy with useless tasks.
37 For example, to improve English, you can plan to read one short English article or learn 10 new words every day. Specific goals not only avoid aimlessness but also give your spare time a clear direction and purpose. When you know exactly what you want to achieve, every minute counts.
Also, focus on activities that bring you joy and help you grow. 38 Whether it’s painting, playing an instrument, or coding, these hobbies not only relax your mind but also develop your creativity and practical skills, making your free time more fulfilling. The key is to find something that challenges you just enough to keep you engaged without causing stress.
Learning to say “no” to unimportant things also matters a lot. 39 Many students feel pressured to join every social event or help others with trivial tasks, which ends up wasting their precious free time. Politely declining these invitations frees up more time for what truly matters to you. Remember, your time is limited, and you cannot please everyone while still taking care of yourself. 40
So start your plan now and make every free moment meaningful.
A.An important step is to set achievable goals for your free time.
B.This way, your free time becomes a source of genuine fulfillment.
C.You don’t have to fill every minute of your free time with activities.
D.This skill allows you to prioritize your own needs over others’ demands.
E.It is important to balance productivity with relaxation in your free time.
F.You can take up a hobby that challenges you while bringing satisfaction.
G.Yet in reality, these hours often slip through our fingers before we notice.

I stared at myself in the mirror: blue tights, yellow vest, a fish tail trailing behind me, and large eyes sitting at op my head. I raised my eyebrows and sighed.
“Mom, I don’t think this costume is right,” I said. “Maybe the makeup will add something,” Mom replied hopefully.
Somehow Mom had convinced me to play the Fish Footman in Alice in Wonderland. I can’t say it’s been the time of my life.
“What if I forget my lines ” I hesitated.
“Oh Riley, is that what you’re afraid of I know you’ve been rehearsing for two months, you were the first off-book in your scene, and I couldn’t be prouder of you.” Mom said, kneeling down and hugging me.
The next day we pulled into the parking lot, and I stepped out of the car, wearing the questionable costume. I shrank inside myself, but Mom pulled me toward the makeup room. When the makeup was done, I looked at myself in the mirror. My jaw dropped.
“Mom! I can’t go onstage like this!” I cried.
“Why not ”
“I’d be a laughing stock (笑柄)! ”
“Riley, look around you! You’re not the only one in an odd costume.”
“What if we just sneak out No one will miss me.” I whispered.
Mom’s lips disappeared into a thin line, and I knew I had gone too far. “Riley, I’m going to watch you go out on that stage tonight. And that’s the end of it.” Then mom disappeared into the audience. I sat there, alone and bored, as the play began and the curtain rose on.
The two boys dressed as Two of Clubs (梅花2) near me chatted casually about this and that. Suddenly, they asked, “You’re awfully quiet. Is this your first show ” I tried to respond, but my voice caught in my throat and refused to escape. I coughed and nearly yelled, “YES!”
The Ace of Diamonds (方块A) sitting nearby laughed. “The audience will certainly hear you if you talk that loud. But you might have to clear your throat first, she chuckled. I gave them a weak smile.
“Don’t worry about us,” the Ace said. “We’re only teasing.”
“Yeah,” the Two said. “When you’ve done as many shows as we have, projecting will be second nature to you.”
Paragraph 1:
When my name was called, I stepped onto the stage uneasily.
Paragraph 2:
Suddenly I was determined to make a lasting impression.

This sensory conflict can lead to dizziness, nausea, and overall discomfort
根据第三段“These moving cues help keep the motion your body feels in line with what your eyes see, effectively reducing the sensory mismatch that causes motion sickness. (这些动态提示有助于让身体感知到的运动与眼睛看到的景象保持一致有效减少引发晕动病的感官失调。)”以及第四段“your brain is less likely to experience the confusion that leads to sickness. (大脑就不太可能产生引发运动病的混乱。)” 可知,通过在屏幕边缘显示动态圆点,该功能能缓解大脑中的感官冲突,从而减少晕车。故选A。
【答案】28.A 29.C 30.B 31.D
根据划线词所在句“where eco-tips are placed on salon mirrors to engender discussions on sustainable haircare practices (将环保小贴士贴在美发厅镜子上,以engender关于可持续护发实践的讨论)”和下文第三段中“Simple messages... can spark conversations about how shampooing less and at lower temperatures saves time, money, energy, water and is better for your skin and hair. (简单的信息……可以引发关于减少洗发频率和降低洗发水温如何节省时间、金钱、能源、水以及对皮肤和头发更有益的对话)”可知,环保小贴士的目的是“引发”或“激起”讨论。故划线词engender意为“引发;激起”,与“Stimulate”同义。
29.主旨大意题。根据第三段““The carbon footprint of shampoo (洗发水) is mostly in the hot water used,” says Denise Baden of the University of Southampton. “Simple messages like ‘most of us use too much shampoo and shampoo too often’ can spark conversations about how shampooing less and at lower temperatures saves time, money, energy, water and is better for your skin and hair.”
根据第五段中Sam Hampton的话“If we’re serious about building a public movement for climate action, then it’s time to invest in these unsung influencers because real change starts in everyday conversations (如果我们真的想发起一场公众参与的气候行动运动,那么现在就该投资于这些默默无闻的影响者,因为真正的改变始于日常的对话)”可知,Sam Hampton博士认为日常对话可以产生影响。
通读全文,结合第一段“Scientists have taken to the salon (美发厅) after realising hairdressers may be an “under-recognised” force in fueling climate action. (科学家们开始关注美发厅,因为他们意识到理发师可能是推动气候行动的一支“未被充分认识”的力量)”以及第五段“Researchers say this demonstrates how hairdressers have an “untapped ability” to weave climate change into everyday conversations and actions. (研究人员表示,这表明理发师具有一种“未被开发的潜力”,能够将气候变化融入日常对话和行动中)”可知,文章主要讲述了理发师可以通过日常对话来鼓励环保行为,从而成为推动气候行动的秘密武器。故D项“Hairdressers: Secret Weapons Against Climate Change (理发师:应对气候变化的秘密武器)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题。
【答案】32.D 33.D 34.A 35.C
根据第一段中的“Although data seems invisible, it is processed and housed in physical places — data centers, for which demand is now proving unsatisfiable.(数据看似无形,却要在数据中心进行处理和存放,而如今对数据中心的需求已无法被满足。)”
根据第二段中的“By burning tiny perforations into the glass, data can be encoded in five dimensions, using differences in light orientation, strength, and spatial position (individual 3D pixels with x, y, z coordinates). This method allows for extremely high density, with up to 360 TB stored on a 5-inch glass disk.(通过在玻璃上烧制微小微孔,可利用光的偏振方向、光强、空间位置(带有 x、y、z 三维坐标的独立 3D 像素)这五类维度对数据进行编码。该存储方式存储密度极高,一张 5 英寸玻璃圆盘的存储容量最高可达 360 太字节。)” 可知,多维编码让记忆晶体拥有超高数据存储密度。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段中的““But DNA might have an edge for we will always be able to read DNA, due to its wide-ranging medical applications. With other technologies, like ‘memory crystals’, the question is how long the read device will be around.”(“但 DNA存储或许更有优势:由于DNA在医学领域应用广泛,人类永远有办法读取它。而对于记忆晶体这类其他存储技术,一个问题是:对应的读取设备能存续多久、未来还能不能用。”)” 可知,DNA存储具备更强的可靠性。
35.推理判断题。根据原文最后一段中的“But do we really need all the data that we produce (但我们真的需要把产生的所有数据都保存下来吗?)”

40.上文“Politely declining these invitations frees up more time for what truly matters to you. Remember, your time is limited, and you cannot please everyone while still taking care of yourself.(礼貌地拒绝这些邀请能为你真正重要的事情腾出更多时间。记住,你的时间是有限的,你不可能在照顾好自己同时取悦每一个人)”总结了珍惜时间、学会取舍的道理,B选项“This way, your free time becomes a source of genuine fulfillment.(这样一来,你的空闲时间就会成为真正满足感的来源)”承接上文,说明按照上述原则管理时间后的积极结果——空闲时间带来真正的满足感,其中“This way”指代上文提到的学会拒绝、优先照顾自己的做法,上下文逻辑一致。

Guess what We surprised our English teacher last week!
During the class break, we decorated the classroom with small balloons and cards. When our teacher walked in, we sang the birthday song together and handed her a carefully prepared gift. She was so moved that her eyes were filled with tears.

Paragraph 1: When my name was called, I stepped onto the stage uneasily. The bright lights blinded me for a moment, and I felt the weight of the audience’s expectant gazes. Despite that, my muscle memory took over. We had rehearsed so many times that I was like a robot, reciting my lines in the most monotone (单调的) voice imaginable. A small part of my brain whispered that I had said these lines much better in rehearsal, but I pushed that voice away. I just wanted to get off stage as fast as possible. Soon, the end of my scene was approaching, and I grew uncomfortably aware that the audience had indeed been very quiet during it. Had I done something wrong Did they not like me
Paragraph 2: Suddenly I was determined to make a lasting impression. I remembered the Two of Clubs and the Ace of Diamonds, their easy confidence. They, too, had started somewhere, likely just as nervous and uncertain as I was now. Then I straightened my spine, cleared my throat, and yelled with all the force I could muster. Obviously, the audience heard me. As the dialogue began, I found my voice, clear and strong, resonating through the theatre. I moved with purpose, embracing the absurdity of my costume and transforming it into a character that was both comical and endearing. With each passing minute, my confidence grew, fueled by the audience response of laughter and applause, their enjoyment tangible proof that I had overcome my fears. As the final curtain fell, Mom found her way backstage, her eyes shining with pride. “You were amazing, Riley,” she whispered. In that moment, I realized that stepping out of my comfort zone, despite the initial hesitation and fear, had led me to discover a strength within myself that I never knew existed.
