Tan Ailing is an ordinary but great woman from Jiangmen, Guangdong.She used to work in a hospital and now spends her time caring for her family and helping others.In October 2025, she was named one of China's Good People, which is a big honor for her kindness.
Tan has a big family to look after.Her mother was over 90 years old and had many illnesses.When her mother fell and broke her leg in 2017, Tan took great care of her.She cooked food and soup at home, and took buses to the hospital four times a day to feed her mum.She also helped her mum do exercise until she could walk again.Later, her mum fell again and couldn't take care of herself.Tan never got tired of helping her eat and move.
Tan also loves her younger sister very much.Her sister has had a mental disability since she was little and can't work.Tan's nephew had a bad accident in 2010 and became disabled too.Tan and her husband used all their savings, and even sold their house, to pay for his hospital bills.She looked after him in the hospital for two years and helped him learn to live by himself again.
Even with such a busy family life, Tan has kept doing volunteer work for nearly 10 years.She joined the Red Cross in Jiangmen and has spent more than 8,000 hours helping others.She tells people about being polite in the city, helps keep the streets clean, and visits old people in nursing homes to chat with them.
