UNICEF is part of the United Nations. During World War Il, many schools and homes were destroyed, and many children suffered. UNICEF was set up in 1946 by the UN to help children and young people in difticult situations.
Now UNICEF is a powerful champion of children's rights around the world. It works in over 190 countries and areas. It provides clean water and food, education and healthcare to children. Moreover, UNICEF acts quickly in emergency situations and makes sure that children get help in time. Besides, it works closely with governments to develop programmes to help and protect children.
Through its great efforts, UNICEF is making great progress to create a better world for children.
