Pets like dogs and cats are usually popular with people. If you keep a dog or a cat, do you always turn on the radio or TV when you’re not in just because you don’t want your pet to be lonely (孤独的) A study shows that some of the British people with dogs would like to turn on the radio or turn on the television. But do pets really like this
Sometimes dogs respond (作出反应) to music. A study shows that when there is light music playing, many dogs seem to be silent. When it comes to rock music, those dogs seem to be very excited. They make little response to popular music.
For cats, they hardly respond to music because their hearing spectrum (频谱) is different from humans’ (人类的), so what they hear when they listen to music is different from what we hear. Some studies show that cats respond to the sounds within their own hearing spectrum. Scientists once tried to see what would happen if they played “cat music” for the cats. They asked a professor (教授) to make special music for cats. And it showed that when they were playing it to 47 cats, some cats did respond to it.

Traveling is a wonderful way to relax and learn new things. Most students love traveling during holidays. Last summer vacation, I took a four-day trip to a beautiful mountain city with my parents. This pleasant journey left me with unforgettable memories and special experience.
We set off early on the first morning by high-speed train. Looking out of the window, green mountains, clear rivers and wide farmlands came into our sight one after another. The fast and steady train ride made us feel comfortable all the way. It took us about five hours to reach our destination. After checking in a quiet hotel, we had local special food for lunch. The taste was totally different from the food in our hometown and we loved it very much.
On the second day, we climbed the famous local mountain. The mountain road was winding but safe. Along the road, there were all kinds of strange stones and tall old trees. Many colorful little birds sang happily in the branches. When we climbed to the top of the mountain, we could overlook the whole city. Houses, streets and lakes looked small and lovely from high places. The fresh mountain air made all tiredness disappear quickly. We took many photos to record the amazing scenery.
The third day was for city sightseeing. We walked around old streets and visited traditional museums. In the museum, we saw old tools, ancient paintings and hand-made works. The guide told us interesting local history and old stories. I gained a lot of knowledge that I could not get from textbooks. Local people were warm and friendly, they greeted visitors politely and introduced local culture patiently.
On the last day, we bought small gifts for relatives and classmates. Before leaving, we enjoyed the quiet lake view in the city park.
