Director: Lan Hongchun Story writers: Lan Hongchun, Zheng Xuanxuan, Yang Leng Release Date: Apr 30, 2026, Wu Shaoqing Duration: 118 minutes
It’s amazing that the actors are not famous, but they really did a great job! The story is quite close to Minnan Culture. It reminds me that my family used to receive lots of “qiaopi” — letters that overseas Chinese sent home with money.
I remember one line that says, “The sea is wide, but as I miss you so much, it’s not far anymore.” In this fast-developing world, it tells us that handwritten letters can still carry strong feelings. That is why I love this story.
I was greatly touched by the love story between Musheng and Shurou. Besides, it shows many Chaoshan traditions like the Gongfu tea and Yingge Dance. I’m so proud of being a local!

Kristin Schell moved to Texas with her family ten years ago. She wanted to know her neighbors, but soon noticed a problem. People seldom invited others into their homes because they worried their houses were not tidy enough or they had no time to prepare well. Kristin realized that this was keeping neighbors apart.
One day, Kristin bought a few picnic tables for a backyard party. The delivery(配送) driver set one table down in her front yard by mistake. Instead of sending it back, Kristin decided to paint it green and place it right there in the yard. Soon, neighbors began to stop by. Strangers sat down to talk. Workers took their lunch breaks at the table. No one needed an invitation, and no one needed to prepare anything.
Then one neighbor asked if she could put a green table in her own front yard too. That small step changed everything. Kristin then started the Green Table, a group that encourages people to connect with their neighbors. Today, thousands of green tables can be found in all 50 states in the US and in 13 countries around the world.

Scientists have found for the first time that bonobos like playing pretend(假装) games. Bonobos are one of the closest relatives of humans. Human children usually start playing with unreal objects (such as having a tea party without real tea) when they are 2 to 3 years old.
Experts once thought only humans could play pretend, but actually bonobos also have this kind of imagination. Wild bonobos, especially young females, have been seen carrying pieces of wood as if they were dolls(玩偶). A bonobo called Panbanisha also pretended to pick and eat blueberries shown in a picture.
Scientists started to guess that bonobos liked imaginative play, but they could not prove(证明) it for many years. To test their thoughts, two researchers studied a very clever bonobo called Kanzi, who was raised by humans. He died last year at the age of 44. By then, he could understand thousands of English words, play computer games, and use pictures to communicate.
The scientists wanted to see if Kanzi could have a pretend tea party. First, they taught Kanzi to pick a cup with juice instead of an empty cup. Then they prepared a “tea party”. In front of Kanzi, a researcher pretended to pour juice into two cups, then pretended to pour one cup back into the bottle. More than half the time, Kanzi chose the “full” cup, even though it was empty. This proved he was playing the game and understood the idea of unreal juice. They did the experiment again with pretend grapes. Two thirds of the time, Kanzi still chose the unreal grapes.
“Bonobos can clearly tell the difference between real things and unreal things,” said Christopher Krupenye, a scientist from Johns Hopkins University, “This shows that these animals’ minds are much richer and smarter than people think.”
56. How does the writer start the passage
A. By telling a story. B. By showing a fact.
C. By asking a question. D. By listing numbers.
57. According to paragraph 2, experts used to believe that ______.
A. bonobos had poor imagination B. bonobos liked blueberries best

A. The background of the research. B. Some skills of wild bonobos.
C. The reasons of Kanzi’s death. D. The personalities of bonobos.

60. What can we learn from Christopher’s words
A. People have known much about bonobos.
B. Bonobos are much cleverer than humans.
C. Bonobos are more intelligent than we realize.
D. Bonobos can learn different things from humans.

Have you ever seen a robot run Can a robot run faster than a human On April 19, 2026, in Beijing, a robot called “Lightning” finished a half marathon(半程马拉松) in just 50 minutes and 26 seconds — breaking the human world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
Many robots fell down on the ground and couldn’t get up again in the race last year. Only 6 teams out of the 20 finished the race. The winning robot took nearly 3 hours. This year, however, 47 teams completed the race and 4 made it in under an
hour. “It is unbelievable that AI has come this far in such a short time,” said Chu Tianqi, a university student who watched the race.
So how did this happen Robots faced different problems from humans during long runs — not tiredness, but too much heat and running out of power. Engineers made three key improvements to solve these. The most important was changing from air cooling to liquid cooling(液体降温), which allowed robots to keep running at full power. In addition, instead of being controlled by people far away, robots could now use autonomous navigation(自主导航) to read the road and make their own decisions. Being able to replace their battery(电池) without powering off also saved valuable time.
But why does it matter to have robots run a marathon As an engineer Du Xiaodi said, “The marathon isn’t really about speed. It’s about pushing robotics technology beyond the lab and into places like factories, hospitals and stores. The marathon is just one step forward.”
61. What can we know about the half marathon in paragraph 1
A. Lightning is the name of the marathon.
B. The race took place in April in Shanghai.
C. The human world record was set this year.
D. A robot finished the race within an hour.
62. What is paragraph 2 mainly about
A. The difficulties robots faced in the race.
B. The number of teams that joined the race.
C. The progress robots made during the year.
D. The thoughts of university students on AI.
63. What does the underlined word “these” in paragraph 3 refer to
①long runs ②tiredness ③too much heat ④running out of power
A.①② B.②③ C.③④ D.①④
64. What can we infer from the last paragraph
A. Robots will be used in more areas.
B. More robots will join the marathon.
C. Labs are the best place to test robots.
D. There will be fewer workers in factories.
65. What would be the best title for the passage
A. Building Robots that Can Run
B. The Winning Robot in 2026
C. Robots Racing into the Future
D. The Cooling Systems of Robots

Plans for Autumn Holidays
Recently, our school made a survey on students’ plans for autumn holidays. 74% of the students want to relax by taking a trip. 18% plan to help others by joining volunteer work. Only 8% hope to improve themselves by reading books.
I think we should balance relaxation and growth. We can travel to enjoy beauty and also read or do some volunteer work. In this way, we will have a meaningful holiday.
